  1. Yup. This build will never be entered in any contest, so I'm not worried about my ridiculous headers. Thanks for stopping by Ken. I really appreciate your input.
  2. Just a little more to do on the header collectors and I can move on to completing the engine. I had to remove the stock intake and throttle body so I can add a single plane manifold and a Holley carb. I have to change the pulleys and fan belt set up and add an oil pump. I will also have to make an air cleaner if I can't find one in my stash. I also need to change the valve covers. They need to be a little bigger than the ones that come on the kit engine.
  3. Finally came up with a collector that will work but it looks nothing like anything that was on the real car or any car for that matter. Totally off the wall.
  4. Wow, so close to the finish and its looking spectacular all ready. The finish looks perfect.
  5. Ken, all I can say is WOW. This build just keeps at such a high level that its simply amazing and enjoyable to watch the progress...
  6. Perfect. Dude looks like a service manager I had back in the day. Adds a ton of interest to the build.
  7. Brent, it looks like mission accomplished. The second picture of the car looks a lot cleaner and crisper with the new decals. However, the paint seems orangier then the first photo. Possible lighting differences or camera setup or did you edit the photo with a program like photoshop? No matter, it looks Awesome.
  8. Excellent super clean build on the Harvick car. Looks like you got these NextGen cars figured out. Everything fits well and the stance is perfect on both of them.
  9. Great build, Jack. Does the driver have a stogey in his mouth. Gotta love Jimmy when he was doing his crying towel routine on the hub.
  10. Thanks, Wick. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I have a ton of old scale auto magazines, but I don't think I have the one you were talking about.
  11. James, I used Tamiya gold in the rattle can on my Smokey Chevelle. It's not as pretty as the one in this thread but it's pretty close. I just posted it over at Short Track models in the Darkside section if you want to see how the Tamiya looks
  12. Awesome that you got to work in his shop and speak with him. That t-bird looks great too.
  13. Beautiful build, Dave. I don't remember seeing it at Randy's. Can't quite make out the name. Who drove this car? And thanks for giving us a build to look at. I keep trying to put Randy's in my rear-view mirror, but I keep getting pulled back like Pacino said in Godfather part 2 or maybe it was 3. I can't remember.
  14. Try as I might I could not get those headers to fit so I had to come up with something totally off the wall and totally incorrect, but I had to figure out how to get the exhaust from the engine to the exhaust pipes, so I came up with these. Please don't laugh too hard when you see them. hardly anything else about this build is correct, so it really doesn't matter. I just need to get this thing finished. I have never not finished a build and I'm not going to start now.
  15. I'm getting very interested with all this talk about making a 61 Catalina correct from the Bonneville kit. I always wanted to do it but never got around to it because I didn't think I could pull it off. I hope somebody gives it a try. The 61 Pontiac was a very good looking Nascar Grand National race car.
  16. Pierre, that underside is looking so real. and I vote yes on the driver, but he has to have a Graham Hill mustache.
  17. Got the movie wrong. It was the Treasure of the Sierra Madres. But the point is, we don't need no stinking Facebook forums.
  18. Yup, officially gone. I'm really comfortable with this forum and the Short Track forum so we shall all move on and as the guy on a movie about seven-gun fighters said, we don't need no stinking badges, I mean , facebook forums.
  19. I agree, Bob. Talladega Nights was much more like real Nascar. Shake and Bake.
  20. Yes, Ken. Yours looks much better than the kit part.
  21. As I've heard around here. Yup. This certainly deserves a big one. Going to be another fabulous build.
  22. Thanks, Ken and Steve. Turned out better than I thought they would.
  23. Got them finished except for a little more sanding after adding some more putty to the tube connections. Also have to add the collectors.
  24. Oh yeah. That engine is downright beautiful with the varying shades of metal. And the wiring is so cleanly done I wonder how your fingers can perform the magic it must take to accomplish this precision.
  25. Ken, I am continually amazed with each new entry into this continuing saga on how to build a fabulous model. Every time I get a new e-mail informing me of a new post, I get downright giddy about it.
