Donato, that is a huge tip about the bic lighter, but I fear that I would just set some styrene on fire. I've used a candle before and had not too good results. Your bends look perfect. Okay if that is a rattlecan paint job, kudos to you. That paint is so smooth you have no reason to polish at all or even add clear unless you have already done that. Can't wait to see this one finished.

Trumpeter Ford GT40 with my twists

Ken, you really know how to lay the paint down with I'm assuming an airbrush. This is one of the best silver paint jobs I have seen. Did the air to the carb just come from the inside air of the vehicle or is there some kind of ducting that goes to that clear stack from outside the car? -
Thanks Steve and Bruce. I appreciate you stopping by and making a comment. No pictures today because I did more damage than good and did not want to post pictures that make the carb look worse than it had looked. Eventually it will be done, and I can move on to finishing the chassis and get this baby assembled. September will be the one-year anniversary of me starting this journey and I hope to never spend that much time again on one project. My next build should definitely be oob and oob only except for maybe more accurate wheels and tires. I might actually use my new air brush to paint the body if I get a low enough humidity day outside. I bought it to paint the wheels with AlcladII chrome because thats the only way you can apply AlcladII. With an airbrush. My old airbrush had bit the big one and just spit when I used it instead of giving a nice spray out of the tip.

Some more work on the carb. Scale wise it's going to be a little too big because I apparently made the manifold too big. But I won't tell anybody if you don't. It will be our little secret. I don't think anybody's following the wip anymore, so nobody knows anyway. Got lots of cutting and detail sanding on this which invariably leads to mistakes and redo's here and there. Somehow, I took a notch out of the top of the carb where it meets the air cleaner. the venturis have little tiny ports at the top of them, but I don't think there is any way I can model that. Most kit Holley's aren't that detailed either. Just want it to kind of look like a Holley.

Thanks for stopping by Edgar. I appreciate your input. Got the demarcation lines cut in the manifold. I still need to do some work on the valve covers to get them more alike and remove the voids.

Thanks, Ken. No air cleaner. Thats interesting. I guess they figure it's not needed for the life of these engines and the air flow has to be so much better without one. -

Excelent work as always, Ken. I was just sitting studying everything and wondered what is with the clear stack right above the carb and is the air cleaner made into the rear body or is it yet to come above the engine? -
Finally got most of the manifold done except for cutting a line between chambers going to the heads and adding a little putty here and there where voids showed up in the manifold and valve covers.
-
added some more to the valve covers to try to get them shaped right. Added some close out panels to finish up the manifold.

Wow, never thought I would actually see a Bonneville build in this Bonneville thread. Yours is Awesome and excellently put together. Used to see pictures of these cars in Motor Trend magazine back in the 50's and 60's when I was a kid and used to peruse the pages finding out about all kinds of competition vehicles. Those were always black and white photos. But magazines were about the only thing we had back then except for Wide World of Sports and CBS Sports Spectacular on TV which were also in black and white.
-
Started on the valve covers which I have to finish before I can close off the top of the manifold chambers. Then on to the carb.
-
Great start, Thomas. I can tell it will be a fine-looking build.
-
Looking great, Donato. I like everything about it. Hope you were able to get the decals for it. Thats one awesome looking modified.
-
Here is the manifold that looks fairly close to the ref pictures I have of the real manifold hidden by an air cleaner. I know that it is a single plane manifold.

Hurricane Beryl as a category 1 hurricane caused more damage than a lot of category 3 hurricanes we have had in the past. Finally got back to the build after 6 days without power. It's just too hard to do something fun in a hot house with battery powered lantern. I got more done on the manifold and found an image of a carb I will try to duplicate as best I can at 1/25 scale.

Pierre, so glad I am finally able to see the finished photos of this amazing build. I don't see what you're talking about when it comes to the paint finish. it looks perfect to me, and you really can't tell what the body is made of. All of your detailed parts and those fabulous wheels you obtained makes this a one of a kind superlative build. Anothe excellent build from your bench. -

Been without power since Monday from Hurricane Beryl. Finally got it back last night at 8:30. It has been very tough not having air conditioning especially at night when you're trying to sleep. The fuel filler and wind screens look perfect. Have i missed the final pictures? I will go check in the show room for this category. -
Found some pretty good ref pics of the manifold and trying to use them to make the engine look okay.

Totally agree about the color of the fog lamps. I guess that's what they are. That front of the car looks so real. You still have that cleanliness of build at a super high level. I don't know how you guys can do it so well. -

Ken, I can't get over how crisp and clean this build is. Its mind boggling. -
-
Yup. This build will never be entered in any contest, so I'm not worried about my ridiculous headers. Thanks for stopping by Ken. I really appreciate your input.
-
Just a little more to do on the header collectors and I can move on to completing the engine. I had to remove the stock intake and throttle body so I can add a single plane manifold and a Holley carb. I have to change the pulleys and fan belt set up and add an oil pump. I will also have to make an air cleaner if I can't find one in my stash. I also need to change the valve covers. They need to be a little bigger than the ones that come on the kit engine.
