This is the body after the first coat of clear. I rubbed it with 6000,8000, and 12000 polishing pads before applying the clear. the clear has not been polished yet. I think I will just polish it with Novus and see how it looks and go from there. The frame is pretty much done except where the exhaust sticks out through the body.

Thanks, Barry and the engine really doesn't look that much different from a street car except for the air cleaner.

Thanks, Pierre, Yes, I'm hoping to do a better job with the clear, so I get a better overall finish this time from the sanding and polishing. The decals should hide some flaws. What's weird is it's been weeks since I put the paint on, but it still feels a little sticky to the touch, and acrylic is not supposed to feel that way. I'm thinking it might be the retarder I added, but I really didn't add that much. Oh well, I'll see what happens.

Thanks, Mike. I'm trying to do the minimum of what it takes to remove any trace of a street car left on it, that they didn't leave on it. The street car didn't have screws holding it together so I can leave those and I'm really looking forward to putting it together that way. It's so much easier using the screws.

Wow, I just looked down and my magic one has disappeared. Sorry, I guess I'll be pulling my hair out on the next one. So, no on the shipping of your underbody. It would probably get lost in the mail, anyway.

Thanks, Jason. With the race not starting till 5 this afternoon, I'm getting a lot done on the frame today. Removing the exhaust is pain staking work. I hope it doesn't rain in Darlington for the race. There is nothing worse than watching a rain delayed race.

Yes, you are correct.

Thanks, Dan. I appreciate your interest in the build.

Thanks, Pierre. I think it's a little too tall, but I can't get it any closer, I need to add the reverse lock out release handles to the shaft. The only thing left is the fire extinguisher and the steering wheel. Then I can move on to the frame to remove the stock exhaust and add the competition exhaust. Then I can assemble and finally finish the body and hope it looks okay. I bought some new polishing pads.

John, I had to go grab the model off the shelf to be sure, but yes, the roof numbers have a thin black border around them. Thank you for the question.

We went to the Indy Car race in downtown Houston when it was still run there. It was awesome. When they switched it to the astrodome we stopped going. They never could really get up to speed there. They had a long straight away when they ran it downtown. We walked all over the course and had many different vantage points. I had a small cooler I could stand on to see over people in front of me. -

Okay, thanks. It will probably be a while before I get to those trans am cars. -

Thanks for the link. It looks like the Halibrands are sold out. I wonder if that means they won't get any more. They also have minilites that I need to do some trans am cars. I had to make my own minilites and halibrands that were a pain to make and didn't turn out that good, so seeing some good ones from this site will help a lot for future builds. -

With the primer on you can really see the improvements you have made to the body. Are those Halibrand wheels, and did they come in the kit?
