  1. Thanks, Pierre. I think when its finally finished it will look okay. The future floor finish always tends to make things look better.
  2. This is the last coat of clear. I will polish it with Novus, then build the car, and then decal it, and finally future it, and call it done.
  3. Thanks, Pierre, but I think it's going to be good as its gonna get and I'm going to finish this baby. I've put too much work in it to scrap it now, even if it needs to be. Just hold your nose when you look at the final pictures.
  4. The completely different, which was daubing the paint, did not work at all, so I just mixed up another batch of blue and thinned it 150% and the paint flowed much better. I will lightly sand and then put another coat of clear which I will thin 100 % and then try the polishing step again. The directions for the clear say to thin it sparingly, whatever that means.
  5. No matter how I try, I cannot get rid of the brush strokes. Today I will try something completely different on a spare body and let y'all know if there's any hope with it.
  6. I agree. The body paint and decals are the most important aspect of model building.
  7. Excellent work on the engines, Pierre. If you had trouble with them, it sure doesn't show it on the final build shots. especially the Cobra mill. It looks so awesome.
  8. Yes, I polished it with the sanding pads, but very lightly. I did not want to go through to the primer.
  9. This is the body after the first coat of clear. I rubbed it with 6000,8000, and 12000 polishing pads before applying the clear. the clear has not been polished yet. I think I will just polish it with Novus and see how it looks and go from there. The frame is pretty much done except where the exhaust sticks out through the body.
  10. Thanks, Barry and the engine really doesn't look that much different from a street car except for the air cleaner.
  11. Primed the frame. Try to paint it tomorrow.
  12. Thanks, Pierre, Yes, I'm hoping to do a better job with the clear, so I get a better overall finish this time from the sanding and polishing. The decals should hide some flaws. What's weird is it's been weeks since I put the paint on, but it still feels a little sticky to the touch, and acrylic is not supposed to feel that way. I'm thinking it might be the retarder I added, but I really didn't add that much. Oh well, I'll see what happens.
  13. Thanks, Mike. I'm trying to do the minimum of what it takes to remove any trace of a street car left on it, that they didn't leave on it. The street car didn't have screws holding it together so I can leave those and I'm really looking forward to putting it together that way. It's so much easier using the screws.
  14. Wow, I just looked down and my magic one has disappeared. Sorry, I guess I'll be pulling my hair out on the next one. So, no on the shipping of your underbody. It would probably get lost in the mail, anyway.
  15. I just had to wave my magic exacto knife over the model, and poof, the o.e.m. exhaust was gone.
  16. Thanks, Jason. With the race not starting till 5 this afternoon, I'm getting a lot done on the frame today. Removing the exhaust is pain staking work. I hope it doesn't rain in Darlington for the race. There is nothing worse than watching a rain delayed race.
  17. Yes, you are correct.
  18. Thanks, David.
  19. Thanks, Dan. I appreciate your interest in the build.
  20. Thanks, Pierre. I think it's a little too tall, but I can't get it any closer, I need to add the reverse lock out release handles to the shaft. The only thing left is the fire extinguisher and the steering wheel. Then I can move on to the frame to remove the stock exhaust and add the competition exhaust. Then I can assemble and finally finish the body and hope it looks okay. I bought some new polishing pads.
