  1. Nice one, a great period look to it. Although scary that the '90s is already that long ago..... I've been thinking about doing the same thing with an AMT Viper I got cheaply just recently, and the MPC 1966/67 (I forget which) Charger I've had for a while - is the V10 much wider or longer than the V8?
  2. Good ideas there Roger, that's probably the easiest solution on the loadbay. The filler cap ring isn't pretty, wouldn't be a bad thing at all to see that gone. Mock-up round 2 to follow, at some point.....
  3. Another case of great minds thinking alike ? Looking at the photo of the 1:1 I think you're right about that line running through. To do that I can drop the fender flares on the sides, but to drop the whole bed which I think it also needs I'm going to have to either shave a bit off the top of the chassis, notch the bottom of the body deck or trim down its height (basically section it). I'm hoping for a combination of the first two, I'd like to avoid the latter. Looking at the photo of the 1:1 and the box art, it appears I have the fenders on the right way around with the filler on the left, but I don't disagree about the look.
  4. Nicely done, they've managed to avoid the front-heavy look some 2CV conversions have. We see Lomax kits here (which I'm no fan of), and others. Compare and contrast with these ones I've photographed over the years: 1984 Blackjack Avion by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Citroen 2CV (?) kit car by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Citroen 2CV6 Roadster by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
  5. That has a great period look to it, very nicely done.
  6. Very effective, great details like the disintegrating vinyl roof cover. It's going to look great alongside the Beetle.
  7. It looks good. Sadly I don't see them here in the UK. I missed out on a Revell Hilux a few days ago.
  8. I read you saying that somewhere else on here, an interesting thought. I don't have any of those Fords, but I do have this Mercedes Lieferwagon which needs building in some sort of rodded way one day: I was actually going to use the chassis and rear wings from my Monogram '37 Ford under it until I ended up rebuilding that one, so they're of similar size. Thanks Carl ? Not having built an AMT kit for some time, I was surprised at the softness of the plastic. I need to get on and move it forwards, but I haven't fully 'engaged' with it yet and there's no one easy thing to make a start on.
  9. Great combo, they're very nicely done.
  10. Very nice work Tom, it looks really good. Looks like there are some delicate details to handle on it.
  11. Looks excellent Tom. Is she pleased with it?
  12. Thanks everyone. Cars like this aren't really my 'thing', but it was good to try something different and I think it worked out OK. Like the Datsun 280Z, it was good to have something that fitted together in a simple, positive way and looks effective on the shelf. Shame I didn't have some decent sunlight to get photos, it might have made the Mica paint do its thing.
  13. Thanks. I don't think I will be rushing this one, looks like it needs a bit of work with all those separate pieces and lots of flash to clean up, as well as the mod's I want to make.
  14. Thanks guys, it was a slightly silly concept but it worked out OK and I have other Zs if I want to build something a bit more sensible. I got some ideas for future builds, also I'd always avoided masking before but I'm more confident with it now......
  15. Fantastic work, is this 1:24 scale? Interesting wiper arrangement!
  16. Both very nice. If I had to pick a favourite I'd go for the blue one, how much of that is down to colour/wheel choice and Revell vs. AMT I don't know. If the Revell version goes together as well as I found with the '66 Chevelle Wagon then I'd happily give it a go myself.
  17. That looks excellent, a fine tribute to your old 1:1.
  18. Great to see it's still moving forwards.
  19. Very nice, you've been busy getting these all finished! This one sits lower at the back then the '70, did you raise that one or is just differences in how they went together?
  20. Started off with this basic old Monogram kit: 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z Road Racer kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr WIP thread and backstory here: Finished it today, after having to repaint the RH wing twice due to paint peeling issues. My masking skills have at least improved a bit..... 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram Datsun 280Z kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Various Tamiya TS and automotive rattle cans used, Fujimi wheels, tyres and aluminium exhaust, Hasegawa arch flares, Monogram Corvette America door mirrors, Tamiya Audi Quattro Recaro seats and oil cooler from the Fujimi Datsun Fairlady I finished recently. Bumpers removed, rear valance cut and bent inwards to make it look a bit more realistic, plastic axles replaced with metal to suit the wheels and lowered as much as possible. These basic kits build-up really nicely, I have the red moulding road car version to do someday. Thanks for looking.
  21. Great minds think alike! It's as good as black ? Nice work on yours, looks like you found some better wheels too.
  22. I started this one in 2008 for a Ferrari build contest on another forum. It never got finished and for whatever reason it sat in a box gathering dust for nearly 12 years until my son recently suggested I get it finished. So with the holiday time I had at home I did just that...... 43 parts! It's a reissue of the basic Monogram kit from the mid-late '70s. I've just finished the Datsun 280Z in the same series, and with a bit of thought and care they can be made to look quite reasonable. It was painted Tamiya TS-64 Dark Mica Blue, which even over a silver base and in strong sunlight looks almost black. The important thing to me is that it's not red. I used some 5-spoke wheels from a Tamiya Nissan Skyline kit, with wider tyres, and fitted some Fujimi accessory brake discs. I lowered it a little bit, some of that just to get around the body and chassis not fitting together quite as tightly as I'd hoped. Otherwise I just worked with what was in the box. 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Thanks for looking.
  23. I keep seeing these come up for sale, these are the first I've seen built - you've done a really nice job on them. Any issues putting them together?
  24. Very mean, fits the brief perfectly.
