  1. Thanks Steve, I'll try it. As for polishing, The most I've ever done is light sand on blemishes then compound, polishing compound then liquid wax. I have never used a clear topcoat yet on anything but I guess I probably should as I attempt to do more quality work.
  2. Good color combo and I assuming plane jane 150 stock right??
  3. Phew, I'm glad you're OK with it but actually I really do want to know what the "front scuttle" is. I've been sitting on 2 of the Black Widow kits waiting for the time to build them. Is that the kit engine, it almost looks resin?
  4. Hope I didn't offend you!! Mike
  5. Welcome Steve. That really is a cool, simple clean build. ?
  6. "Bootlid", "front scuttle"!! OK Geoff, translation ???? Just poking fun at ya LOL.
  7. Good info here guys. Good to hear the Duplicolor clear works well.
  8. Ya know, you may have a point there Peter, the one I have is the ultra chrome and I am comparing to the older regular chrome. Hmmm.
  9. Thanks Steve, I'm definately thinking its the way to go. Would any laquer primer work and what not too expensive clearcoat??
  10. Does anyone looking at this thread think the newer foil is thinner and harder to work with. Curls up when strips are cut to put in place and seems to tear off easier if the knife cut is not deep enough.
  11. You KNOW i'll be watching Geoff.
  12. Steve I see the Scalefinishes saturn gold. I assume the basecoat is laquer. 2 oz enough for 1 model???
  13. Very nice clean OOB unmodified build Tom. Finishing a mild modified version of the same kit.
  14. MTrumpet player here. Was in a very popular cover band named SOUTH in New Orleans in the late 60's to mid 70. Big Chicago and BST fan of course (horns) and now into Dave Mathews Band (DMB). Rashawn the trumpet player is one of the best I have ever seen.
  15. Looks Great Marty. I'm finishing up a mild custom street Bug right now.
  16. Steve, what automotive laquer do you use. I'll be doing a Saturn Gold 71 Cutlass (as a replica of one I owned) and finding that color is kinda giving me fits.
  17. Very cool cars in your garage there. And yep George "Lizardracing", that Dual Quad 425HP 409 was a beast and a legend. Hemmings had one in their auction, fully retsored convertable I believe it was for a cool $125,000.
  18. Any one on the forum have a good decal making instructional? Having an exact replica of the emblem would be very useful for us '57 affectionado's.
  19. Are you gonna build it just like the 1:1 car picture Geoff??
  20. Thats a tough one Dan. I'm sure you googled. I thought I'd give it a try too and nothing. Even the George Klass website georgeklass.net did'nt have a picture, and he has a whole lot of old Corvette drag car (and of course other)pictures. Good luck, Mike
  21. I sprayed Duplicolor Mica Ford Toreador Red over a medium gray primer and it's pretty dark. I should hve did the gold undercoat but its done now. I'll know better next time.
  22. Just wondering here. When rattle can spraying a pearl color, say a red in this case, does it really make a difference if the undercoat is a primer or say a gold metallic?
  23. Decided I better buy a second Lindberg 66 Chevelle SS to go with the one I already have because I want to be an as delivered to the dealer then as I modified mine back in 66. I saw one in Hobby Lobby a month or two again and did'nt buy it so would'nt you know, they're now a "rare" kit. Geez!!!!
  24. Cant't wait to see that onr built!! Your in China????
  25. Very cool, the car and the color. Gotta get one......the model that is LOL!!
