A beautiful Nova with a hot small block was standing outside the door when I went out. Such a nice chat and look under the bonnet that I was almost late for lunch. -
Revell '69 Pontiac GTO/Judge kit HPI guys review.

”all that Monogram goodness!” yes! The question is if Monogram is the new Jo-Han. In the absence of old pristine Jo-Han you can still find old Monogram and also new white ones. In addition, they are easy to build. -
The primer is on, Humbrol 145(bluegrey). It will dry for a few weeks now while I do some work. My intended palette, scale matte black, i.e. dark gray, just a few chrome parts, various shades of gray, orange engine, yellow traction bars, brown interior, blue seats, red primer floor.

Summer cottage construction is progressing, aiming for a body in primer before it's time to work again.

1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II by Minicraft Models: WIP
Ulf replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
A reasonable alternative is actually the Chevrolet small block, apparently a fairly common conversion in the US in particular. There are probably exhaust systems that give the right whisper. -
a quick mock up A few thick coats of paint on the chassis and the absence of details and my vacation construction may not be visible....

MPC's Nova there is knowledge and opinions about and MPC- "multiple plastic challenges"... My idea was a low budget street car, maybe he does some street racing what do I know. Google or search on Youtube for flat black Nova 1977 and you will find my inspiration. My wife shouted before the holidays, have you packed your clothes ? Yes darling... (Some different rims, Bucket seats, Steering wheels, A small block, Headers & Two different fans) I wanted to keep the soul of the kit and not replace the chassis. Since the interior is apparently wrong but the body ok, the focus was on making the interior acceptable. I have an idea of scale matte black, i.e. dark gray.

Happy Van Ford Econoline
Ulf replied to Ulf's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
In primer, paint soon. This is the first van I have ever built and quite honestly not the best kit but I will do it again but maybe a little differently. -
1:16 Scale 1962 Ford Consul Cortina by FROG kits
Ulf replied to Anglia105E's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Cool, I had a Russian-made one that was unfortunately not built thirty years ago. The box was made of paper as porous as egg cartons, more like a paper bag... The problem with mine was that the pressing on the body side lacked its crispness, today when I am a little more experienced I could probably fix it. Really fun to follow. We deserve a new 1/24 kit ! -
What was your first model car?
Ulf replied to Kit Karson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1975 a JO-HAN Richard Petty Plymouth Belvedere (1/25), it was a bit cheaper than AMT, my mother paid. JO-HAN is since then my favorite. -

MCM is now almost two years old and in recent weeks I have been rewatching old episodes. MCM really stands the test of time. -
Fantastic, Airfix 1911 Vauxhall 'Prince Henry', you saw it in the Airfix catalog once upon a time. Very nice build.

Any Chance Of The Monogram Capri II Coming Back?
Ulf replied to oldcarfan's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There is a Capri mkII(?) from AMT 1/25 and an early 1/24 curbside from a Japanese manufacturer. There really should be a market for either of these especially in light of Round2's Craftsman kit without engine. -
Scale model building good for the brain
Ulf replied to atomicholiday's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
All of a sudden I became curious to try building a kit from a design sketch, project plan, schedule and budget... Not that I think it will be better or more fun but maybe it will make me a little smarter ? now that I stop working on projects professionally ! One thing is for sure I will not become more beautiful. -
Scale model building good for the brain
Ulf replied to atomicholiday's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The great relaxation in model building is that it is not a disaster if you fail. It's what really gives the brain rest and recovery, which it also needs to develop (the brain develops well into old age provided it is stimulated and rested). You control the design, budget, schedule, forecast and quality. -
Race of Gentlemen presents... California Drag Racing 2023 Build Thread
Ulf replied to Calb56's topic in Community Builds
oops, I really have a lot to learn from that build and Kit Karson's 33 coupe project. I haven't spent many hours in hot rod garages in the last 25 years and it shows so I really appreciate having other projects to look at every now and then -
Oh, I like the color combination on Tudorn, palette cleaner at its best. I am saving that image for the future.

Wow, I really like all the details. Now I have a couple of weeks at home and hope to get some bench time with my coupe. -
What non-auto model did you get today?
Ulf replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Oooh, one of the very few classic racing Porsches I've seen in person. I was really shocked by how worn and scruffy it was, far from even a utility car. -
