1963 Chevrolet Nova... Dump Truck???
Ulf replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very good, I am very fond of 60-70-80's Peugeot pickups, your Nova feels very obvious as an American equivalent. -
Finally, really worth the wait.

Even though AMT has a central place in my heart, I am open to the idea that Revell/Monograms are a bit better, one argument for this is that Steve Boutte started from Revell/Monograms and it ended up in Rodders Journal. If you look on Facebook, Steve Boutte Kustoms, there are probably construction pictures.

Interesting, I have only worked with low air speeds and differences in speed between parallel air streams, but if you have the opportunity to measure a Jaguar E-type coupe in both directions, it would be nice to know if there is an ounce of truth in the expression that it has a better Cw value when reversing.

Pre-Paint check for Imperfections
Ulf replied to Ralphie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Daylight is your best friend. Daylight also reveals whether the stance is right. -
Very good interior. If you choose the salt method, put a layer of clear varnish first to saturate the salt grains, they otherwise absorb the paint so that there are rings around them with more color and varnish hatches and doors separately so that the salt grains are placed in and around the joints more convincingly.

Thanks for asking the question, as I admire your projects, it's really nice to have the chance to vote. First I read 215 carelessly and thought Buick 215, my dream engine in a model car but then I read again and yes, a inline 6 is so incredibly beautiful so 215 is my vote.

Great build, the car I want most from Revell or Moebius.

Brush painting Tamiya acrylics?
Ulf replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Painting with acrylic/water-based paints requires a different technique. Firstly, it needs something to stick to, not only to hold it once it has dried but also when it is applied, a primer. I am currently trying to learn how to brush paint Vallejo's primer. The paint itself has to be applied rather than brushed out if you want to benefit from self-leveling. Is it good, is it fun? It's not fast, but it's getting better and better for me. Vallejo primer in the right color helps because the paint is thin. Our beloved cat has problems with his tear ducts so I do not dare to airbrush even though I have suction etc. but it will have to wait until we get to the summer cottage. -
Wonderful store, Hobbybokhandeln=HobbyBookStore Stockholm Sweden, from the beginning they imported magazines that you could subscribe to, you picked up your magazines from an archive folder and paid. I have been shopping there since the late 80s. From time to time real rarities have turned up. The shops are important for the hobby. That shop is one of the reasons why I have returned to the hobby several times, I lived a couple of blocks away in the 90s and I couldn't resist starting again. One of the owners is a very good modeller by the way.

Tanks, tack I can honestly say that I have no contact with any car builders other than a hello at a show (I go to one occasionally to look and buy some odd stuff). To exhibit with all that it means with a whole day etc has not been on the map before but you should never say never, maybe it will come now when I retire. I saw that you liked my Nova project, it has its winter rest in the summer cottage and most of my modelling is in the thread below.

Very nice, you have really managed to build in the present without disturbing the spirit of the vintage kit, it is more difficult than you think, I have failed to do so myself with this particular kit by the way. Thanks for the material tips.

My Monogram Deuce obsession - a lifetime of hot rod models!
Ulf replied to alan barton's topic in Model Cars
Oh I really like right-hand drive 32s, it emphasises the sports car genes in hot rods. Of course I also have a right-hand drive 32 on my list of what I want to build one day. I have always had a good eye for English rods with Jago fibreglass bodies. -
Race of Gentlemen presents... California Drag Racing 2023 Build Thread
Ulf replied to Calb56's topic in Community Builds
Hi Tim Thanks for your encouraging message, it really came at the right time, our cat is a bit poorly. Regarding my project, I have been working on some details that are not visible in the little time I have had for modelling. I should have retired a week ago but I was asked (flatteringly) to work for another three months. I have also started my own WIP https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/187992-ford-34-a-street-hot-rod-who-did-not-reach-the-finish-line/ but due to work and a cat it has been put on hold. What have I done then? I have fit the steering column, seat, roll bar, headers and painted the body inside. In addition to this, I have fitted the 32nd masking to the radiator and the job that I am dreading a bit is to remove a crossbar on the frame and build a new injection. In my new life situation (retired), modelling (in daylight) will be a natural part of life. -
Round 2 Can We See The Chevette and stock Vega Again?

That one is a classic, I was thinking more shiny red with wheel tubs so big you can just put an oil bottle between them. Preferably I would put in a 1/24 engine ? . -
Round 2 Can We See The Chevette and stock Vega Again?

If I ever build a prostreet, it will be a Chevette. Maybe that "promise" will help those who want it reissued? -
