  1. I've been a bit tempted to build a car this way so I've had a closer look at some really nice ones. Polishing as Leica007 writes yes but a couple of really nice ones that I looked at and talked to the builder about have been painted on the inside of the body, the one a yellow he had painted first chrome silver, then black, then blue(?) interior roof. He had tested with black directly but then the car became mustard yellow. In short, his cars felt solid. By the way, he is very careful to paint all the back sides black, outside interior, top chassis etc.
  2. My favorites, the aluminum piece with perpendicular holes in it is good help to glue straight and right, the aluminum profiles support both parts and the eye measure. Edit Ironically, I discovered right after I posted the post that I cut off the wrong axles from the sprue and glued tree of six... no jig helps against such mistakes. This time it was salvageable because I use Revell's glue and the return wheels were reversible.
  3. I say matte black which means I would choose a dark gray(almost black). The few Funny Cars I have been close to have been like that, one in the late 70's was black in the coupe but chalk white from the windshield on. I actually think it gives the driver better visibility or at least the feeling of it.
  4. Unfortunately it is easy to build tension into the car if you have fixed fix points. I sometimes build something like the picture to make it easier to handle, I have glued a millimeter paper to help me see if I am building straight, the 34 pear shape is a challenge.
  5. Not good, sad but which edition of AMT 51 Chevrolet has these wonderful slot mags ?
  6. It looks great ! It looks credible.
  7. Try putting the parts in a plastic bag, soak a little and put in the freezer, a few turns in and out so that it can thaw to freeze again so maybe the glue will release from the freezing blast. I tried it in the 90s and managed to get a one piece glass in an AWB kit. A couple drops of dish soap in the water actually increases the penetration. Some of the old glues were partly porous and if they have had time to dry on the surface there may be a small gap. Glycol creates leaks you learn as a plumber but I think dish soap is more appropriate.
  8. Next week, when I sew the patch on the jacket, it goes from hobby to lifestyle.? I was thanked the other week and my boss(female) had bought me a plastic model kit in addition to the usual Michelin restaurant gift card(guess what I was most excited about).
  9. A Meyers beach buggy from Tamiya, the Beatle is European and Tamiya already have that. 1970s Peugeots 404, 504, Break and pickup, big numbers worldwide. And like drogd wrote regarding the 993, ”normal”, we are grown ups now.
  10. Volvo truck 1971, it has an exemption from the environmental zone introduced in 1996 so that it can deliver coal to S/S Blidösund.
  11. Incredibly stylish and tasteful, you have also integrated Parts by Park's aluminum discs perfectly in(not on) the build.
  12. This kit made me realize several things; 1. what does a 70 Camaro really look like, I was actually a little surprised when I looked closely at pictures. Pictures of spare parts on wwww are often good to look at. 2. this kit will have to wait a while, it's been three years now. Honestly, I think it is easier to succeed in sanding off mold lines and possibly filling if you first apply a very thin layer of primer. It’s easyer to see whit some primer on.
  13. Hello Pierre This thread and your post interests me a lot, are you able to share any tips? For various reasons I have not been able to use my airbrush since the summer but the need to build is stronger than ever, in addition, the range of colors is not what it has been so I have bought a lot of Vallejo colors, read, watched Youtube, tested and tested again and a brief summary of the status today is that I'm starting to get a picture, a feeling for how to do and what materials are needed, the visits to the hobby shop were a bit like switching from 110 to 230 volts. Everything is new in the painting dep. wetpalette, great so that you have some wet paint left to improve with hours later. Paint shaker, indispensable because the colors become absolutely wonderful by 20 seconds of shaking. Stainless steel balls to put in the paint cans. Vallejo primer, these are polyurethane based and much more durable than the colors, a thin layer is enough, these primers are available in colors which is good as the colors are a little transparent which in turn gives the opportunity to pre shade. Vallejo paint and clear coat. Vallejo clear coat polyurethane, these are just like the primer more durable. Vallejo airbrush thinner. now, some parts are in soaking in the bath as the clearcoat could not be thinned with water, which was not visible until it dried, test test and test again ... So to what was most difficult to understand without Youtube, you do not brush out the color like Humbrol but rather apply quite fluidly with the brush so the color levels out and it dries quickly. The brush is not as important as you might think, not like painting whit enamels. There are more videos whit handpainting(not brush) gunpla’s(WHAT is that ??) than 1/25 cars on Youtube. Next up for my training is a one colour tank model kit. Yes, acrylics are fragile but it’s better after a few weeks drying and as always, if you want to remove the paint, it sit rockhard.
  14. Wow, how good it turned out. This kit really has the right rims, in real life the type of rims is sensitive on these BMWs.
  15. In the neighborhood, everyone became even happier.
  16. Correct, a Sonett III 1970-74 Sonett is actually written Sånätt in correct Swedish, Sodainty, Sosmall
  17. From my own point of view, when I was a child I dreamed of top of the line. Now that I am of age I like the understated, four doors, some chrome, small hubcaps, even small engine. Pickup kits give room to build that style actually, Moebius in particular. I think today there is a bigger market for four-door kits than there was in the 70s and 80s when what was released time and time again was brought out. Revell has in modern times made some 55-57 Chevrolet not ht.
  18. Over the last thirty years in my work/professional life (which ends today) I have met several professional modelers, house models were built almost exclusively with cardboard for several reasons, cheap, easy to work whit. House models are unpleasantly expensive and the consequences of a house model failing can be great in terms of being shown to the CEO, board and investors. Reactions with different adhesives are another problem that makes the professional modelers often use cardboard and white glue. I have picked up some knowledge over the years and what they really pointed out is the importance of not letting unpainted styrene lie in the sunlight year after year in the workshop, in addition to the importance of buying quality (styrene flakes and profiles) and getting to know the materials and adhesives you use. Any cavities must be ventilated so that solvents do not become trapped, this is especially true of small ones, the construction must be solid and also without too much tension, shape, fit in and glue with as little glue as possible, I always use Revell's pipe glue.
  19. Nice, Z3 is a car that I appreciate more today than when it came which is completely in line with my personality... It will be fun to follow your build. English as a native or not, I use Deeptranslate and it works well for me(Swedish/English). What is really worth mentioning is that I not only had fun reading on the forum, learned a lot about modeling but also developed my reading comprehension by reading American everyday English which has been incredibly fun. Porsche Boxster

Nice, I really like the textile feel of the cockpit, I have a 987 and it's very cozy, probably wouldn't last long without that sound deadening.
  21. Ulf

    AMT Capri 2

Interestingly, Capris have a place close to my heart as does the contemporary Escort.
  22. Tools Revell 53 Chevrolet Bel Air, jack AMT 49 Mercury, toolbox: modified onepiece MPC. Maybe it will be ready for winter…
  23. The window glass rattled, exhilarating. If it wasn't for the fact that we were waiting to go to the vet (all went well) this would have been a perfect day for model building, an inch rain.
  24. Look great !
