Vintage Revell Parts Packs -complete set
Ulf replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I did it yesterday, I bought the Fiat specifically for the Cadillac engine and chassis part. It feels safe that the stuff is in the stack if I fall out of the armchair and can't get to the hobby shop. Given what was in the box and that they were not chromed, it did not feel expensive even though it was about 10-20-25% more expensive than, for example, new Revell Oldsmobile and Ford Mustang or Round2. It was what I could see quickly no flash, hardly any lines either -
Very nice build, nice colours, well invested effort to pick rims from three other kits, the hubcaps do a lot for the whole. Very nice light in the pictures.

Very tasteful construction, it is a cultural achievement of Revell to produce this kit. Your choice of parts really impresses.

Just a good ol’ boy. Never meanin no harm
Ulf replied to Crapy Builder's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It should be fun to build, I sometimes build with the same attitude as I had as a child and it is very fun, a few moments in adult life where I do not have responsibilities and duties.? I also prep the bodies with kitchen pads, mold lines and especially sharp edges. Light pressure or nothing and letting the pad fly over the edges gives decent results. I start with the edges of the chassis if the kitchen pad is brand new and then it will be reasonably worn to the body. -
My favorite, so much so that I reinforced the box with cardboard on the inside and soaked the fifty-year-old cardboard with Pledge so that it can be there when I build whatever I build. JO-HAN and sunshine , life at its best. My absolute favorite kit is AMT (no surprise) #6809 FORD F-150 XLT and with that the box becomes a good second.

For me who for several years had AMTs 72 GMC (and 49 Ford) as a bread and butter kit when it was sparse in the hobby shops shelves, this is wonderful news. It would be nice if Moebius released military variants of these, NATO gave northern Europe a substantial contribution with hot rod raw material via surplus sales in Germany in the eightes.

Very good results, building a replica of a real car is much more difficult than being able to compromise.

Great build, thanks for adding some reference photos, the shop truck was cool. Now to my question, how is the plastic in this kit ? Somewhere I read that it can neither be filled nor glued ??!

Old Family Cars
Ulf replied to iamsuperdan's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Jaguar XJ40 1993 3,2 l. A cheaper model with the big engine but with a shorter stroke and no sport mode, a nice car. We had it in a garage on the island where we have our summer house. My brother-in-law got it when I got the Boxster from my wife. Before the digital era, we rented wrecks on the island, at that time old Volvos, some became favorites, they were quite adjusted dreams to drive. -
Off black paint for scale effect.
Ulf replied to D.Pack's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm also quite convinced that the scale effect is quite small on the type of cars we build, but it's very much a matter of references. If you choose to paint with a broken black, e.g. black and skin color (pink type), you can with the full black blur what should not be visible, e.g. a not detailed wheelhouse on a slammer ... A little OT, my dream in professional life has been to build a house where the color black is prohibited, high up among the project goals because the deep black details are like holes when you look at the finished house. -

Very useful, the Panel Truck is incredibly cool. It would be something for AMT to further develop its 1960 F100 pickup.

opening 32 ford roadster doors
Ulf replied to Paul Payne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A friend did it on an AMT 29 Roadster in the 90s and he glued the floor, the firewall and a wall between the backrest and the rumble seat(mother-in-law hatch in Swedish..) in the body before starting. Probably he also adjusted the width of the floor a little so that it fit perfectly to the whole(he is morbidly accurate). See also the latest episode of Model Car Muse on Youtube, it was very hands on regarding opening up doors and hatches. -
