Great build, thanks for adding some reference photos, the shop truck was cool. Now to my question, how is the plastic in this kit ? Somewhere I read that it can neither be filled nor glued ??!

Old Family Cars
Ulf replied to iamsuperdan's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Jaguar XJ40 1993 3,2 l. A cheaper model with the big engine but with a shorter stroke and no sport mode, a nice car. We had it in a garage on the island where we have our summer house. My brother-in-law got it when I got the Boxster from my wife. Before the digital era, we rented wrecks on the island, at that time old Volvos, some became favorites, they were quite adjusted dreams to drive. -
Off black paint for scale effect.
Ulf replied to D.Pack's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm also quite convinced that the scale effect is quite small on the type of cars we build, but it's very much a matter of references. If you choose to paint with a broken black, e.g. black and skin color (pink type), you can with the full black blur what should not be visible, e.g. a not detailed wheelhouse on a slammer ... A little OT, my dream in professional life has been to build a house where the color black is prohibited, high up among the project goals because the deep black details are like holes when you look at the finished house. -

Very useful, the Panel Truck is incredibly cool. It would be something for AMT to further develop its 1960 F100 pickup.

opening 32 ford roadster doors
Ulf replied to Paul Payne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A friend did it on an AMT 29 Roadster in the 90s and he glued the floor, the firewall and a wall between the backrest and the rumble seat(mother-in-law hatch in Swedish..) in the body before starting. Probably he also adjusted the width of the floor a little so that it fit perfectly to the whole(he is morbidly accurate). See also the latest episode of Model Car Muse on Youtube, it was very hands on regarding opening up doors and hatches. -

Unfortunately, it is not only the bonnets that are at risk today. Last summer I prepped and painted a Revell 56 Chevy body, primer, sanded, matte paint (had no other) and it looked good until I put on the clear coat. Then stripes appeared across the roof. The body is so thin because Revell detailed the headliner and maybe it had been taken out of the mold one or two seconds too early. It was not visible as long as the roof was dull or at least I did not see it but when it became shiny the waves were loose. Now I have bought another kit and filled the folds with super glue, filling and sanding remains before primer. Instructive in short.

Ferrari Boxer triple build - The 'Brigette Bardot' cars
Ulf replied to beeRS's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wonderful, the wheels are half the car. The last super sports cars with an adult profile on the tires, a favorite. -
Thanks for respons. No worries, I'll skip the work of drilling out this time(too). The kit is a challenge in itself and I'm a bit on edge building with a limited number of tools etc in the summer cottage. It feels like an open goal for Moebius to make a more modern Nova, the design itself and it is probably possible to build everything on such a kit. pet peeve, I had to Google, I have lots of those in life.? I skip the bezel around the headlights, see my inspiration. I have filed away the rubber on the bumpers and glued plasticard strips, next time if there is a next time I will think of another way, possibly I will glue a thin plasticard on the height to get the upper pressing better. The black is preshading.

Thanks for the response, I will try gray Scotch-Brite but above all be really careful and prep in all corners.

A follow-up question, I have had some bad luck with ordinary (cheap) universal primer flaking on a Car. What do you think, should I have used Tamiya's primer, have I neglected to sand or have I applied the color wrong? I have washed with detergent and toothbrush. I read about someone who scrubbed with some abrasive paste in corners that are difficult to access.
-
Something went wrong with the Humbrol color that I airbrushed just before we went home from the summer cottage to work for a couple of weeks, so when we came back I bathed the body (something I thought, I will never do...). Now it was ordinary universal primer, for next summer I will order Tamiya primer to the island. Today I mounted round headlights that come from the AMT 65 Ford Mustang via the scrap box, it became a completely different expression (the remains of the original are at the side).

If there's room and it's a flat surface, you can clamp about 1/8 inch plasticard on both sides and drill through these incrementally larger.
-
I'm probably not the only one who was surprised when the primer dried, I take à lot of pictures with my smartphone and watch in peace and quiet. Teamsmeetings are becoming a little more productive in fact.

Resurrection of a Super Stocker
Ulf replied to dust collectors's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Nice project, now I understand why my MPC Nova looks like it does or rather looked like (I have sawn and glued a little..) it is a later generation release of your today unique body. Really fun that you build on this body. -
Starting a new old project, tubbed '77 Volare Road Runner

Fantastic project, nice work on closing the sun hatch. Replacing the sun and targa roofs really requires skill. It's inspiring to see some different cars here at the forum. -

Visby Gotland Island Sweden, sometimes we also see the bronze-colored 57 that appeared in the crushing scenes in the movie American Graffiti but today we had to settle for this... not bad at all. -
Building a New York taxi from the Revell Caprice Snap Kit
Ulf replied to OldNYJim's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Interesting build, please tell us in detail about primer paint weathering and clear coat. This is one of the four taxi kits ? AMTs Ford 1970, an English Austin (old London taxi) and Airfix easy builder (like Lego) modern London taxi.
