  1. There has been at least one 30-32 Ford hot rod sporting a Volvo 1,8 l B18 in Sweden, one of the resin 1/24 from Tradera* straight mounted ? *Swedens EBay
  2. When I first read it I thought you had put in a Volvo engine which would not be unreasonable but that was not the case. Anyway, it looks great.
  3. I really need to look at the pile of unbuilt kits to not order one or two... The thing in favor of ordering is that the 1/8 scale makes Evergreen's 1/8" pipes with brass wire inside so perfect for building the front legs and rear in the frame more correctly, a challenge but it should work based on the availability of material in the right dimensions.
  4. Well done, congratulations on fulfilling a childhood dream and congratulations on being privileged enough to have a kit made by Tamiya themselves. Boxsters are wonderful cars, my wife gave me one fifteen years ago. Porsche's designs are great but I often find myself thinking that the previous design is better than the latest and that is certainly the case with the Boxster. Your original model is actually better looking than my 2006 987 but you forget what it looks like as soon as you start driving.. Edit, wow, it’s an American Snap kit.
  5. Maybe I'm too old for this, but I'm up and running. Iron Maiden ?? no, it will be spot welds. Usually the goal is to get a nice body to paint, this time the goal is the opposite and it's just as difficult actually.
  6. There really is a difference with thin and round spokes
  7. Wow, I will be following this build closely. You've really got the height and wheel arches right. Transverse leaf spring on a big sedan is incredibly focused.
  8. Now I have lowered the body 2-3 mm above the frame, I think it looks better anyway. The inside of the door and dashboard make sense now. A little adjustment is needed to get the body in balance. The wheels from a Moebius pickup might be Annsons from Peagasus to justify my sidepipes. Feel free to comment on the height.
  9. A very nice build. So in short, this is a conceptualization of the re-release of the Revell 5-window coupe that we desire.
  10. Sorry, My English is probably not that good. What I meant was that my body sits too high on the chassis. Maybe it's the math, the top of the floor lines up with the bottom of the cabinet doors but AMT probably should have made the frame rails lower, the kit floor would be 25 mm 1:1. Your 70's van looks spot on my picture of what it looked like.
  11. Thanks Tony Unfortunately we don't have access to that page (overseas..). Sidepipes, happy ! I have tried to make my own now the hardest part is still to file the tailpipe 45 degrees. Iwas a bit surprised when I put the body over the chassis, even though everything is probably glued correctly it gives the wrong look. I will try to lower the body 3 mm over the chassis.
  12. We understand, you dragged the body out of the bushes to compete in the race.It turned out really well.
  13. It's easy to forget, but a lot of horsepower and driving pleasure are rarely directly linked. A zippy VW, a well performing Volvo, the right road(traffic, width, curvature) can be super fun but a straight road with cameras can be boring in a Porsche, I know. Balance and harmony are more important than power on public roads. You don't even need horsepower all the time for driving pleasure... I met a colleague and got to test drive.
  14. Yes, we may be surprised today at what we managed to glue together then. Today I have a can of Tamiya liquid glue with old runners on the table to bridge the fit in some old kits.
  15. Very nice build, even though it's an old kit you can't get away from the fact that the shape is spot on.
  16. Thank you for the kind and encouraging words. I had to take a creative break and build on an AMT(!) Ford Econoline(TROG service car ?) but I'll be back soon.
  17. I felt I needed to take a short break from my ambitious TROG project in the Community Builds Race of Gentlemen presents... California Drag Racing 2023 Build Thread Although I've always had a good eye for Ford's Econoline vans, I've never built AMTs until now almost fifty years after their release. I'm really grateful for Round2's program of reissuing old kits and was even happier when I found White spoke wheels in the box even though they are not mentioned on the box art. Unfortunately, one was missing... Unfortunately a piece of drop list is also missing so I'll have to try and fix that with plasticard. I probably have some rims in the scrap box, important is that they are not expensive rims I think, expensive cars are rarely the source of joy. Right from the start I decided it was going to be a happy car, it's easy to go the road worn rusty and dirty delivery car but not this time. Happy yes, sun yellow, sky blue happy light dirt, beach dust, happy straight 6, happy V8 n that's in the box, ok then The van culture never took hold in Sweden so I don't have any good references but I found a Japanese magazine with cars where there were some vans that looked happy or at least had owners who radiated relaxed joy. We had vans when I worked as a plumber in the 80s but building one doesn't feel like a priority. Google ”Van Japan” gave http://deezer.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/ A bit what I was looking for unlike for sale pages with rusty wrecks on a gravel field. The chassis will be there strong, straight and sturdy thats it. Crowe-t showed in a post how he detailed the inside of the body, thanks ! I will try to get something in the same style.
  18. I like all your build so this is for all. The 69 Camaro is my favorite.
  19. When the pandemic broke out, I went to the hobby shop, it was the moment to start again. Once inside the shop I was faced with one of my life's decisions, 1/25 or 1/24 ?? The thought of all the Jo-han kits with amazing box art was the deciding factor. Sure, after that I've twisted and turned on both Tamiya and Monogram boxes but only one Fujimi Porsche has ended up in the pile so far. I know, some kits aren't right but somewhere in the back of my mind are memories of AMTs with Monogram wheels in my boyhood bedroom. The diffuse engraving in old AMT kits and the fight against the drop angle has its charm.
  20. Is now the time to choose a number ? I'm up for the challenge of painting a 5.
  21. A small update. My idea is to put thin round plasticard in all the holes around the sheet metal on the roof as spot welds, we'll see how it goes. Next step is small dents.... a coupe with a top chop this questionable can't be straight in the sheet metal. It bears pointing out, it's not going to be a rat rod but a little dented I'll try to get it.
  22. Jaguar spirit, we had a wreck, everyone smiled, waved and let us through then my wife gave me a Porsche and all the nice fellow drivers disappeared the moment I suddenly sat a foot lower. Everyone loves Jaguars.
  23. Now I've seen the latest episode of Model Car Muse, good as usual, a highlight Saturdays every other week. It's surgeon level model building really but always with the encouragement not to forget to have fun. BTW, I watch all the Donn Yost videos too, really good and a bit different angle. What they have in common is that, like good writers, they follow their formula, their person.
  24. Nice, I'm going to try to get my hands on a pair of those marvelous late Halibrand solid face magnesium wheels for my 34s rear wheels. Thanks for the point about colours, Tim Boyd mentioned it in an SAE article, they certainly didn't have the same wide range of colours, I guess even the pigments evolved a bit over time.
  25. Hi After reading the forum for a couple of years and writing a few posts I have now started a project in Community Builds, Race of Gentlemen presents... California Drag Racing 2023 Build Thread I have been building plastic models off and on for 50 years, they have always been in the back of my mind but for a long time there hasn't been time. Now and in the future there always will be. I guess I differ from many here in that I never save any finished models, the process is always most important to me, the result is uninteresting as soon as it is finished. Anyway, now I'm working on a generic diorama that will fit all the cars I build, so they'll have to sit in a display case for a while waiting for the next car to be finished. Now I'm building the AMT Ford 34 and waiting for spring when we go to the summer house where I airbrush and build on the cars I didn't finish this summer. EDIT: I’m a AMT-fanboy. All The Best
