  1. From my own point of view, when I was a child I dreamed of top of the line. Now that I am of age I like the understated, four doors, some chrome, small hubcaps, even small engine. Pickup kits give room to build that style actually, Moebius in particular. I think today there is a bigger market for four-door kits than there was in the 70s and 80s when what was released time and time again was brought out. Revell has in modern times made some 55-57 Chevrolet not ht.
  2. Over the last thirty years in my work/professional life (which ends today) I have met several professional modelers, house models were built almost exclusively with cardboard for several reasons, cheap, easy to work whit. House models are unpleasantly expensive and the consequences of a house model failing can be great in terms of being shown to the CEO, board and investors. Reactions with different adhesives are another problem that makes the professional modelers often use cardboard and white glue. I have picked up some knowledge over the years and what they really pointed out is the importance of not letting unpainted styrene lie in the sunlight year after year in the workshop, in addition to the importance of buying quality (styrene flakes and profiles) and getting to know the materials and adhesives you use. Any cavities must be ventilated so that solvents do not become trapped, this is especially true of small ones, the construction must be solid and also without too much tension, shape, fit in and glue with as little glue as possible, I always use Revell's pipe glue.
  3. Nice, Z3 is a car that I appreciate more today than when it came which is completely in line with my personality... It will be fun to follow your build. English as a native or not, I use Deeptranslate and it works well for me(Swedish/English). What is really worth mentioning is that I not only had fun reading on the forum, learned a lot about modeling but also developed my reading comprehension by reading American everyday English which has been incredibly fun. Porsche Boxster

Nice, I really like the textile feel of the cockpit, I have a 987 and it's very cozy, probably wouldn't last long without that sound deadening.

    AMT Capri 2

Interestingly, Capris have a place close to my heart as does the contemporary Escort.
  6. Tools Revell 53 Chevrolet Bel Air, jack AMT 49 Mercury, toolbox: modified onepiece MPC. Maybe it will be ready for winter…
  7. The window glass rattled, exhilarating. If it wasn't for the fact that we were waiting to go to the vet (all went well) this would have been a perfect day for model building, an inch rain.
  8. Look great !
  9. Airbrush Vallejo Air and brush paint over the lights ? I think that with clear coat over it is not possible to see a difference provided that you put enough paint on the body so that the color becomes solid. Vallejo Air is good to brush paint which I have not succeeded with, for example, Tamiya.
  10. NHRA drag car they sponsor on display out in front of the Revells main building 1973 or 74. Fate gave me this movie in the Youtube lottery, eight views in three days is far too little so I spread it further on MCF.
  11. A five wheeler, that’s high class. Using the Columbia 2SPD Overdrive impress me also, this build is real nice.
  12. It is difficult with these 32s, they have been rebuilt and unimaginable many new ones have been built with fiber glass and newly made sheet metal bodies. What did they really look like from the beginning? I photographed a hiboy with original sheet metal body in the 90s, the owner had been very careful not to transform the body and the backrest was not against the body for example.
  13. I find the spare tire tub very interesting, early editions of AMT's 32 roadster have 5 or 6 wheel fenders. It’s a four cylinder car.
  14. I have saved some pictures of the underside of an original car from the web but I am a little hesitant to post these, English is not my mother tongue so trying to read what applies is no idea.
  15. Exciting, all the world's modelers deserve an easy-to-build state of the art stock 32 Ford ? I made a quick sketch of the tool that I told you about in previous posts. The white rectangle is the frame rail in profile and the tool is the steel gray. The frame that I was shown was certainly not milled out but the small edge really gave effect, an illusion of an open C profile.
  16. Very interesting, good pictures. A gentleman in the same town as me backdated a Revell frame 25 years ago with parts from AMT's Victoria chassis, it became very weak so he glued the body floor into the frame a bit against his original idea. He shaped the side of a hobby knife blade and managed to drag it along the inside of the frame rails to give the illusion that the frame was not boxed. A very nice build in the end which unfortunately has only been shown at a vintage car club. I tried to buy one of the front axles that he cast in silver but unfortunately I did not get it.
  17. The 5 lug rims and tires look look good, a bit too good for a trailer(read kitbash).
  18. I'm so glad you asked, it warms my heart. The situation is that many things that have stood in the way of model building, are almost over in the days including that our beloved cat had her last teeth removed and is doing well again. I will come back with updates shortly if everyone is healthy. I have cheated a little with some other low ambition projects in the summer cottage during the summer. status as I write this:
  19. An RPB Piraya fiberglass body made in Burträsk in Sweden on a VW base plate is my suggestion. Burträsk is far up in Sweden three to four hours from the Finnish border.
  20. My answer is partly a combination of points 3 and 4 It's a nostalgia trip back to a more innocent time and the less complex world, yes. The second part is partly like point 4, I get to express my ideas but I don't have to own and with that take responsibility.
  21. I am looking for a picture. Sometime in the early 90's, a reader sent in a picture to American Rodder Magazine (I'm pretty sure) of their 32 roadster with home built fiberglass body that they built from the dimensions of the AMT 32 roadster. It would be fun to see that picture again in short.
  22. The joy of building comes high for me, if it is not fun, nothing gets done. To ever build an AMT 32 from its limitations is like a subculture in the model building world, I failed 25 years ago but now I am reloading(collecting parts) that to build a few parts count soft details not correct roadster.
  23. Great project, I've read through the whole thread now. This picture is like the essence of the whole build, an ingenious solution to a problem I've been pondering, one brass-tree plasticard, thanks for the help. Edit Now I have read through the thread one more time and it really feels like you are visiting someone's friend's garage. A truly inspiring project.
  24. Yes yes yes, because I know that cars and motorcycles that have been in movies sell more historically. Tasteful Iron Sportsters has been seen in many movies, in the Johnny Depp movie Cry Baby there are two Sportsters, a model K(flathead) in most scenes while in the driving scenes it is just an iron Sportster. Personally, I think that a prerequisite for getting decent numbers is that a kit contains all original parts, ie the original parts of the 1:1.
  25. ”The 2000GT made its most famous screen appearance in the 1967 James Bond movie You Only Live Twice, most of which was filmed in Japan. Two one-off topless models - fitted only with tonneau covers to simulate functioning convertible roofs - were made specially for the film. It is claimed a targa had been considered to accommodate the burly 6' 2" Sean Connery. This retained the original car's fastback profile but eliminated rear side windows. Purportedly, Connery's head stuck out of the top and a roofless version was fabricated in just two weeks for the movie. The car was mainly driven by Bond girlfriend Aki (Akiko Wakabayashi) in the film”
