1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet with Hardtop [Fujimi Enthusiast]
e30lover replied to e30lover's topic in Model Cars
Thank you so much! Appreciate it! Thank you! I really love the maroon color. Thanks a lot If I were to do it again now I'd probably lay a clearcoat! Thanks! apart from dark navy and green, this is my favorite color for 356! Appreciate it! Thanks! It's somewhat tedious to build and I recall putting the body onto the underbody was a bit challenging but I'd love to do it again if I can buy another kit! Thanks! It's a pretty amazing kit to build. hood and rear engine lid fitment isn't great for most of these so lots of dry fittings are required! Thank you! Thanks a lot! -
Amazing builds! Looking forward to seeing more in 2021 too!

Lovely looking wagon and boat! The colors are perfect!
-
Love seeing all of them! Keep'em going!

Incredible build! Sky blue really suits well on the car. Chrome work and gold accent look really amazing.

Here’s another Fujimi Enthusiast Series I built in 2009 while rest of my projects are on hold, waiting bunch of aftermarket wheels to arrive. It was caked in dust and couple of pieces broke off during the move, but I was able to find most of parts and gave it a light polish. I’d say this is one of the best Enthusiast Series kits. They even made parts for piston and crank, as well as seat adjuster handles! The fitment and plastics need a lot of dry fitting and work to get it right (if I were to do it again, I’d strip out all the chrome parts and clean them up with sandpapers) and it’s fairly fragile to build it as suspension bits are very realistic and there isn’t much room to put enough glue. Build details are: Tamiya grey surfacer, then wet sanded with 2000 grit Three coats of TS-11 Maroon, then polished with Tamiya compounds without clear and TS-14 black for the hardtop Interior was painted with Tamiya Italian red over grey surfacer BMF’d window trims It’s one of the kits that I really want to build another - especially 356A 1500GS!

Just beautiful! Amazing fabrication and also equally amazing color & paintwork!

Very nice rare kit done in unique color combo! What did you use to drybrush the tires?

I had to really rush the painting before getting a cold rain! Looking forward seeing your box stock build! Thank you! Appreciate it! -
Love the conversion and how understated and realistic it is - amazing work from paint to chrome trims!

Thank you! Lots of custom ordered 930s had red interiors. It's one of my favourites! -

Appreciate it! Thank you! Black is one of my favourite colors! -
Thanks! I think it'll suit really well. I personally haven't used the wax, but based on the review, it works just like an automotive wax to "fill in" the microscratches that might stay after the polish.

I personally use Tamiya 3000grit sponge and never used micro-mesh cushioned abrasives, but it sounds like a pretty similar material and should work out fine. I also apply fairly wet final coat to make sure I have least amount of orange peel without having to lay too many coats. I've used TS-39 for my chaser build: -
Nice stance and great photos too!

Love it! IMO Impala looks the best in black.

Thank you! Black suits on pretty much any car. Thank you! Thank you! Back then I was into polishing solid colors w/o clear. In retrospect it's pretty inefficient because you can never know until you polish through the paint. Appreciate it! Thank you! If I were to do it these days I'd add more brown to simulate the typical oil leak -

Thanks Rob. I wetsand with 2000 grit between almost every major stages (after primer, after base coat/before clear) then once the clearcoat is cured, I wetsand with 3000 grit sponge then apply tamiya compounds (all three of them). -

Thank you! Color hides a lot of flaws! Thanks! Thank you! My current lens setup makes the photos a bit too soft for my likings but I'm working on getting another lens! Appreciate it! -

Thank you! Appreciate it! I'm setting up a new paint setup with airbrush so we'll see if that improves!
