1937 Ford Sedan Retro Hot Rod - Last Call For 2020!

Very nice! The color combo works really well here. -
Beautifully done! Italeri wire wheels look great on this.

For last few years and until its recent release, Academy Pony has been the most anticipated kit in South Korea because it was the first car actually manufactured by Korean company (before then Hyundai licensed Ford and GM partnered with Daewoo to form GM Korea to license manufacture Opel Rekord/Holden Commodore), and at one point it accounted for 50% of all cars on the road in Korea - so a lot of people at least in Korea have soft spots for Pony. Korea didn't use road salts back then so most of these non-galvanized cars didn't suffer as much of rust issues as they did in overseas.

Simply gorgeous!

Thank you! Looking forward to building more domestics in 2021! Thank you!

Awesome work! One day I'd love to build the same Hasegawa XJ-2.
-
Great work! Masking takes more than half of the effort for this particular kit. Love the black & red combo!
-
Love the 51' Chevy!

Thanks Charlie. Black is my favourite color and I keep having to resist painting another kit with black. Thanks Mike. I'm building another old Tamiya kit right now and it's a joy to build these! These hasegawa curbside kits can produce really good result! Highly recommended!

Wow, just awesome in every way!

Awesome builds! I love the 40' Willys.

Thank you! I hope I have as much time as I had! Thanks! It's really the amount of prep work in between wet coats. Just like the bodywork for real cars! Thanks. I bought Hasegawa Miura P400SV for the next Italian build!

Wow, amazing! Looking forward to your builds in 2021 as well!

That 442 Olds is absolutely amazing. I need to buy one for myself..

Thank you! It was a joy to build it. Thanks! The final wet coat without dripping the paint is always the key part for me. Thank you always! It's the one that I want to build it again! Thanks. I too enjoyed seeing your builds. Happy new year! Thanks! I highly recommend the Jag - it's probably one of the bests kit that I ever built. Thanks! I'm already building three at the moment! Thanks. First couple were a bit sloppy but I'm getting the hang of it! I feel like I didn't do justice finishing it up! Should've masked then painted instead of using BMF Thank you! Thank you! I used an airbrush for the first time for the Golf, and I'm pretty excited to mix my own colors. Thank you! Thanks a lot!

I love them all, especially the sunny truck with the perfect stance and wheel choice. Looking forward to see more in 2021!

2020 was the year I came back to modelmaking after taking a long pause since 2010. My initial goal was to complete all the ones that I bought in 2009-2010 but I bought more kits than I had initially as I was buying tools.. and ended up making 10 total. So starting from July, here are 10 kits that I made - I already bought 11 more kits for 2021 and looking forward to building them! 1. Tamiya Porsche 993 GT2 Clubsport 2. Tamiya Jaguar Mk II Saloon 3. Aoshima Toyota Chaser MX41 4. Tamiya 1600 Beetle 5. Revell Monogram 1970 Roadrunner with 440 Six pack 6. Hasegawa Nissan Fairlady Z432 7. Hasegawa Porsche 944 Turbo Cup 8. Fujimi Enthusiast Lancia Stratos Stradale 9. Tamiya Porsche 930 Flachbau 10. Revell Golf Mk1 GTI

VW Mk1 Golf GTI stanced with Turbofan [1/24 Revell]
e30lover replied to e30lover's topic in Model Cars
Thank you! I've been following some of the builds featured on that tumblr site! There are a few that influenced my wheel choice. Thank you. There's a very subtle pearl flakes but it's nearly impossible to capture with the camera! -
VW Mk1 Golf GTI stanced with Turbofan [1/24 Revell]

Thank you! Airbrushed clear definitely feels better than spray painted coat! Appreciate it! Thank you! Mk1 is one of my favorite dubs! I wish the wheels were slightly narrower and not staggered! Just couldn't justify ordering then having to wait 1+ month to receive aftermarket wheels.. -
Hi all, I managed to finish another kit for 2020 - Mk1 Golf GTI. It’s a fairly new kit from Revell Germany and has Fujimi EM rivaling details (full suspension, engine and interior details without absurd amount of fragile parts) I loved the way that engine compartment, underbody, interior and body all assembles together, as well as how window trims are molded to clear window parts. As the stock kit came with rather plain looking 13" steelies, I decided to make a "stanced” look with one of my period correct spare wheel set (Racing Hart’s turbofan style wheels)from Fujimi mk2 GTI kit, paired with stretched tires from Aoshima. They’re a bit too big and wide for my personal preferences, but I think it does a decent job reenacting the build that you would typically see at H2O/Waterfest/SEMA. For me, this is the first kit ever using airbrush setup which definitely took some time to get used to. The build details are: - Started with Tamiya grey surfacer then sanded with 2000 grit - To simulate real car's dark metallic blue, I laid 2 layers of Mr Color C328 blue with XC08 moonstone which gives very subtle pearl metallic effect (which you can mix or overcoat) - Laid another 2 layers of Tamiya X-22 clear with 3000 grit between every coat to minimize orange peel - Once it’s been dried, I used the usual Tamiya compounds to polish the body - Omitted rear badge and side stripe, as well as plastic fender flares - Body was masked off then side trim was painted with tamiya flat black - Grille was painted with tamiya red, then brush painted with tamiya acrylic flat black and silver - Added a few vacuum hoses, ignition and battery wires as well as fuel lines to simulate k-jetronics in the engine bay Hope y'all enjoy!

Both are equally fantastic. Looking forward to seeing more in 2021!

Awesome color combo and the paint looks immaculate!
-
Thanks for sharing! Love seeing all of your builds and my favourite one among all of them is the blue LeSabre!

Great looking pair! Love the thick sidewalls on the skyline. RS style BMW wheels look nice on the silvia as well.
