  1. Here’s the two Pintos I’ve built. Have a couple more in the stash I’ll get to eventually!
  2. Here’s my build of Monogram’s snap kit 1982 Corvette, from the recent Ollie’s Special release. It’s a quick slump buster of a kit that goes together nicely although it’s not super detailed. I airbrushed it in Tamiya X-5 green with XF-93 light brown for the interior. This was my first acrylic airbrushed body in a couple of years (been using Tamiya spray lacquer for some time for bodies since I get way better results), so it’s not my best work but looks ok. I think I’m not thinning out the paint enough so there are a few orange-peel spots. The green is not factory for ‘82 and the windshield trim should be black, but I think the green over tan and silver trim gives it a nice luxury look. Late C3’s are oddly my favorite Corvettes style-wise although I know they were lacking in the performance department.
  3. Just finished this MPC Jeep CJ-2A! It’s the Godzilla movie kit that I picked up from Ollie’s a little while ago for $12. Like most classic MPC kits, there’s lots of detail and build options, but also questionable fit and finish and tons of flash. My kit had several warped trees including most of the military parts, so Surrey top it is! The hood was very warped too so I got it as straight as I could. Paint is Tamiya TS45 Pearl White (first primed in gray to cover the green plastic, then white primer) with Krylon True Blue for the seats and wheels. Top is Tamiya white primer and XF-8 Flat Blue. The top supports that come with the kit are way too short for the height of the windshield, so I used toothpicks with Tamiya black wash. Overall it goes together ok and was pretty fun to design.
  4. @ea0863 Rims came with the kit! Along with two other wheel choices
  5. Here’s my Revell Honda Civic EK Hatchback! These Tuner Series kits are a ton of fun with lots of custom options. I built the Integra and Civic coupe as a kid when these kits were new, so this was definitely a nostalgia trip for me! I recently bought the entire series from eBay now that I have adult money; my allowance back then did not stretch far. ? I built this one with a more modern JDM/tuner look than the fun-but-gaudy 2000s style the kit represents. I painted it in Testors Extreme Lacquer Purplicious to vaguely match the best Honda color ever, Dark Amethyst Pearl. Interior is in Krylon gray. The racing seats came from the SVT Focus from the same series, in Rustoleum Gloss Apple Red. These Tuner Series kits build up very nicely. Revell seriously needs to reissue the entire series, I would buy several of each. That red Civic coupe is the very one I built when I was 12, in full early-2000s-tuner regalia. I brush painted that one in Testors Acrylic; body graphics were kit decals applied long before I knew Tamiya Mark Fit existed. It’s one of my better childhood builds of the surviving few, but the camera is definitely hiding a ton of blemishes. It’s fun to see how much my skills (and taste) have improved!
  6. I think you have your headlights mounted wrong, that’s why they look huge. The chrome part should mount to the inside of the body from underneath, just the clear lenses should be placed from outside of the body. Aside from that it looks great!
  7. Ok I didn’t expect a response this fast, Revell is sending me a new wheel today and have already generated a USPS tracking number. That’s customer service!
  8. @Stef Thanks! I’m not too worried. Worst case I can resin cast one or use something from the parts box. It will be a while before I get to this kit. Out of the couple hundred of new kits I’ve bought (I open every single one to check it out), just these two Revell’s have had missing parts. Only one kit had a crushed body A-pillar mysteriously in a perfect sealed box, funnily enough the AMT 007 Mach 1. The rest have all been perfect so probably just flukes!
  9. I finally ordered my copy of the Revell Boss 351. Received it today and immediately opened the box to check it out. I’m glad I did, my wheel sprue is missing a wheel! It’s still sealed and there’s no loose wheel in the box. Has anyone else found parts missing from their Boss or Mach 1? I have submitted a service request from Revell Germany, hopefully they will get back to me soon. I’m confident they will; my McLaren 570s from a couple years ago was missing a headlight lens (also from a sealed bag) and they sent me a replacement pretty quickly.
  10. It’s purely for looks. It’s the younger generation’s version of this: Like all automotive fads/customizing styles, there are terrible hack jobs out there done cheaply, and there are high dollar work-of-art builds done as a statement.
  11. I organize mine by vehicle type: sports cars, exotics, trucks, muscle cars, mustangs, f-bodies, etc. Then they’re roughly arranged within that group by vehicle model year and brand. All Japanese/European style flat boxes are stacked by size of the box since they come in non-standard sizes. I’m thinking of starting a spreadsheet to keep track of them all, since I’m running out of single-box-depth shelf space in the basement. Then I can start stacking them two boxes deep on my shelves and still find stuff. And maybe pick up my pace of building/slow my pace of buying ?
  12. Not really a backstory, but all of my builds are done as if I myself owned the 1:1 version of that kit, then this is the colors/wheels/mods I’d want it to have. I definitely don’t have the funds, space, or time to own the real versions of these car kits, but it’s fun to imagine I do in scale!
  13. Revell’s 2000s era late model custom car kits are so cool and due for reissue. I have most of the Tuner Series kits, but I think I need to pick up some of these Uptown kits.
  14. I have the UGEARS marble maze kit, with 400 pieces. It’s very complex but well engineered. I’m halfway through it right now and enjoying it. I’ll have to pick up one of their car sets next!
  15. Yeah they were 12.99 each, not sure why the sign said 19.99.
  16. Lancaster PA Ollie’s has the usual leftovers, and a new load of Barris kits. I’m not really a Barris fan but I picked up an Ala Kart and a T Buggy, along with the Joker car.
  17. Here’s my boss’s Shelby Charger from a couple of years ago. He fully restored this one to replace the one he had back in the day.
  18. @Chuck Most Yeah the taillights are loose in their sockets. It doesn’t look too bad but they definitely need to retool those taillights.
  19. I built a factory fresh one a while back! You’re right, it builds up beautifully. Not a single sliver of flash on the parts trees either.
  20. Here’s my build of the recent release of AMT’s ‘65 El Camino Camper! I liked the custom fluted glass-looking grill/headlight cover so I decided to go custom with this one. In my mind, the camper manufacturer built this custom show truck to promote their new El Camino Campers! It’s painted Tamiya Light Green with Tamiya Pearl White for the bumpers and interior. The cab carpet is Tamiya Dark Green, and the white paint on the camper shell is Tamiya white primer. The decals came from the recent release AMT ‘65 Bonneville, and the wheels are from the parts box (I believe from the MPC “Bad Company” Dodge Van). I drilled new axle holes in the chassis to lower the stance. This is a very basic promo style kit but it has some cool custom parts, and 10 pad printed tires. I had a lot of fun with this build!
  21. Here’s my build of the Monogram/Revell ‘99 Mustang Cobra, converted into a convertible using parts from the Monogram ’94 Cobra convertible. This is something they should have done themselves, the parts are all there except for the body shell. I have a WIP thread if you want to check it out. I had some troubles with paint and breaking the windshield frame, but overall an easy conversion and I’m pleased with my results!
  22. I have finally finished this one up after several frustrations. Right after my last post, I broke the windshield frame. And then I got a glue fingerprint on the paint. So I decided to strip the paint AGAIN and start over. While stripping the paint, the windshield frame broke completely off. So… I shelved it for a while. I decided to start over with my spare fresh body shell, cut the roof off again, and transferred the roof base trim from the first one. My paint job went pretty well this time, it’s not perfect but it looks pretty good! I’ll have it posted under glass shortly.
  23. Thank you Round2!! Been wanting to pick up both of these but not for the inflated eBay prices! Now for that MPC Fiero…
  24. Here’s my build of Aoshima’s ‘92 Range Rover! It’s a pretty simple curbside kit that goes together great and has plenty of detail. It’s painted in Tamiya TS-2 “Dark Green” with three coats of Pledge floor gloss (TS-2 is a matte finish). Thanks for looking!
