Built this a little while ago, and just cleaned up and finished the convertible top. Showing off my new photo area too....? Box stock, Testors red out of a can, rubbed out. A very basic kit but builds up real easy.

Never saw these kits before and must admit, not my style at ALL. But wow does that car and accessories look awesome! Especially the suitcase with the dough. Thanks for sharing and educating about a kit I never was aware of!

Patrick, these are good tips. I just have so much other things going on right now that it is confusing where to put my time, so I procrastinate. On the matter of getting back to modeling, I started a "background" of a garage (takes up a lot of space on the bench and had to move a lot of stuff to work on it!) so that I can take nice photos of my models. The foundation of that is now done and details can come later, but now with the cleaner bench, I organized the stuff at the same time, and ready to get back to it. The weather is going to pot and that helps get the mojo back as well. I will post up the background in some other threads and move forward!

1/25 AMT 1965 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe
steveracer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It was pretty simple and only about an hour at most to make the shape. I traced the passenger side window opening onto tape. Created a template. Placed the template on the driver side opening. Sprayed a dust trace coat of black primer. Removed material to create the more accurate shape. No material added. Created a rain rail from the smallest evergreen rod - which is .5mm I may rain rail the passenger side too, as it looks more accurate for depth and dimension, but we will see how lazy I can be. This will be just a box stock build, nothing fancy.- 90 replies

Sadly, I rarely go to Ebay anylonger. Used to be the go to place. Reminds me of K Mart. -

Bob Johnson. Awesome, just awesome insight. Thank you. I have so many parallels to this, it is just great to read. -
this time I am stuck, after finishing a truck and then not being able to go to the model show last weekend. So I have been looking at this forum for hours this past week, and looking at the new contest car s annual. But nothing is tripping the trigger. It is still nice enough outside - kinda - to be doing outside work,, but the early dark evenings still doesn't have me going. Building a new spray room in my garage, but the modelling has been not happening. sigh.

1989 Australia Rally Toyota
steveracer replied to MarcoTJ's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
love to see a classic rally car build. And built with such care and attn to detail to boot! Didn’t Carlos Sainz roll one of these ever so spectacularly on the AU rally? did the kit come with gravel tires? My new Buffum Quattro has the wrong tires and in need of gravel Michelin’s. great build. -

So my buddy is not feeling well, and said he had or has (?) Corona...not sure exactly so he didn't go. Then wife shows me the corona stats for michigan this morning at 7 am as I prepared to attend. Needless to say I was not "allowed" to go to the show. Waited 2 years for this show. I am more than bummed. Please post a link to photos of the models at the show. Please post something other that that facechat stuff, so us that refuse to be beaten into submission can view them. Hope everyone will be safe.

Molotow pen modifications
steveracer replied to Painted Black's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used my pen, the 1mm pen is what I have, and to get more juice out of it I had to push it down onto the work table. that works fine some times, while at other times a whole spill of juice comes out. That allows me to use a brush though, which is a nice perk. But I don't trust the pen after some usage.... -
Awesome! Same for me but I have been modeling a bit longer. Working on models is better than watching a lot of nothing on the tube as well! Good to see you are enjoying the modeling process, and your subject is quite interesting!

Miles, that looks very nice! Did it really only take you a week to complete once you got back on the horse? One other question, I see the back panel is smooth. Does the kit come with a ridged panel as an option?
