  4. Irk Irk Irk... Spray Paints aren't what they used to be, wanted to get some Testors 1244 gold to match an old can I had.. The latest (now rustolum) has way more copper in the pigment, not the same color at all. Then the latest purchase cans of Tamiya primer seem to have a much lower % of pigment solids and dry nearly transparent. Also tend to fisheye badly leaving a goopy rough finish. Never had a problem with them before this year. Back to automotive primers.
  5. Stan Mott designing the 59 Impala... Yea I can see that, he's just wacky enough to come up with those tail lights! My ex had/has a 60 ragtop... Alas I no longer get to ride in it.

  7. Cheap and Inexpensive are not = Always bought quality tools and took good care of them. 40 yr on they still work well.
  8. And this was a collaborative project between Mad Mike and myself drafting a 1/8 scale 60/70s Ford Indy DOHC V8 for prototyping. Mad Mike's build is Epic!

  11. Does it have power assist breaks? that thing will be a beast to stop, though you do have 6 drums. Love the logos on the pedals.
  12. white ish is right. Even in the clasic starting line photo you can see how dirty and greasy the tires were even before the race. The other photo has thee advertising writing painted on and the tires have seen better days.
  13. The color of the Wasp has long been a bone of contention among us modelers. Back in the 60s Rod & Custom paper wasp painted it dark orange, the ISM has it painted bright yellow which, I believe, was the Marmon co. standard in the 19 teens. Ray Harroun raced the Wasp throughout the previous year 1910 before it was entered in the 1911 500. My theory is that the color change was due to oil staining from the Yellow to a rusty orange color by the time it was run in the 1911 Indy 500. The photos show the car today and you can see this staining on the oil and fuel tanks and around all the bolts and recesses and even see finger swipes on the underside of the fuel tank even though the ISM probably is more meticulous in their cleaning that when it was originally raced. Still doesn't answer the question of color at the start of the 1911 race. A personal choice anyway, but I do hope you'll do the white tires.

  16. Thank you for looking Ismael. as you can see you are not alone in your appreciation of this wonderful car. I wish that EG had included the Marmon Wasp name in his title he would have gotten a much greater following and we could have inspired more modelers to take up the cause. Over the years i have gathered a sizable reference library of info on the Wasp but I soon discovered that EG's passion far out paced mine. Though I started working on the chassis in CAD my love of engines soon had me developing the heart of the beast. I really need to get back to that project and see if I can get it to a printable stage before the end of this decade. 🙂 Definitely want to follow your build.
  17. I am sorry I missed out on the limited production from Indycals. looks like you are doing a great job on this iconic race car. For more reference details check our EG's 3D CAD layouts at forum under "One of the most famous race cars nobody seems to know anything about" He was doing some fantastic work, unfortunately I think his medical issues caught up with him, I think Indycals missed the mark on the water pump however well the rest of the car came out... Just being picky here. Looking forward to seeing your progress... Model On!

  19. In my opinion the XKE v1 was one of most beautiful cars ever designed. You've certainly don it justice, and red is so iconic.
