Wrinkle Wall Rear Slicks
Rick L replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If the wrinkle was cast on both sides of the tire depicting one direction of force and lettering were cast on both sides of the tire you would mount the tires in the same direction. That way one mold could be used for either side. -
Question regarding Grex TG3 airbrush
Rick L replied to karbuildr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As with any gravity fed airbrush, the paint runs throughout the gun. So it must be meticulously cleaned. Check out the Grex cleaning video online to see if your capable of working with such small equipment. Good luck. -
Back in the early 80’s I molded the 5 battleship class hulls and a bunch of superstructures for an part time model maker. He advertised in a veterans magazine for replicas of the WW2 battleships that sailors served on. The model maker would have me cast the correct hull, specific structures and ship them to him. He worked out of his house on Cape Cod. I had to check this guys operation out. So I decided to deliver his first order personally. Turns out he had the most spectacular view over a marsh on the Cape Cod National Sea Shore. He was building models to supplement his Navy pension I was a very jealous young man.

Question regarding Grex TG3 airbrush
Rick L replied to karbuildr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I like my Grex. I’m slightly arthritic and the pistol grip is smooth for me. -
Very pretty. Thanks for sharing.

Also look up leather punches.

Good luck with that kit. I had that very kit years ago and it had terrible fit issues. Never fond of ERTL kits after that.

Some painting aid suggestions

The white plastic salad bowls, served at informal parties are made of polystyrene. A little heat with hair dryer can put an indent on the bottom. -
A very simple but clean build with super color choice.

Looks like plenty of room for an air mattress and kayak. -

One problem with the USPS is the delivery drivers themselves. They’re paid hourly. Do you think if they have a light load they’ll come in and punch out early. NO WAY! They’ll find a nice quiet cubby hole behind a gas station somewhere and take a nap till it’s time to check out. I know of a postman who naps behind a social club in my area almost every Wednesday around 2:30 and doesn’t leave till 4:00. -
Why the concern? Can’t you just prime and paint over it?
-
A little time consuming but If you start with fine polishing cloth and work your way down to coarser grit you won’t damage the clear any more than it’s damaged now. Then you can work your way back up in grit to a satisfactory level. If the scratch is deep you could then go to sandpaper proceeding the same way.

I bought this felt material at Hobby Lobby. The best way I can describe it is in powdered form but I don’t remember what it was called. I remember painting a base color then using 1/1 combo of Elmers glue and water, brushing it on then dumping the felt onto the seat. Tamp it down VERY lightly all around, let dry, then tap out the excess.
