  1. I'm not planning to do one of these but it looks like a pretty good kit. Thanks for sharing Mark, always nice to see your work.
  2. I also have migrated to Vallejo metal color. Considering how little you need to cover they are not really expensive. They also mix well with Model Color, so for example if I want to do a light metals blue I will mix a bit of Model Color blue into the Aluminium Metal Color. Very versatile and they brush well.
  3. Pascal, such a beautiful build. Hard to believe you can achieve such exquisite detailing at this scale. Bravo!
  4. Imaginative, fun and beautifully made model. Finally a Fiat that could sell!
  5. James, for 1/24 -1/25 scale cork tiles are another way to go. Needs painting and weathering but that's what we do!
  6. Very very impressive work Harald. So much to absorb here and it's all wonderful. Thank you for sharing
  7. Rich, absolutely top notch build. Love the colors (gotta get some burnt iron) and your paint, decal and detailing work is so so very nice. Superb!
  8. These should keep you busy for awhile! That big Pontiac 2+2 looks really nice, but then again just about every GM car from that era. I miss Bill Mitchell.
  9. Auto racing is about going as fast as possible without losing control. This...this is just slipping and sliding for the purpose of slipping and sliding...
  10. Beautiful builds John. My knowledge on the topic of drag racing on a scale of 1 to 10 is ...aahh ZERO but these are a delight to see. Your paint, trim and detailing are all so beautiful. I am most impressed by the scratch build fuel lines, they add so much realism. Thank you for sharing these.
  11. Nicely done Bruce. Isn't that the year Williams would grab poles but somehow tires degraded quickly during the race and Ferrari would invariably reel them in?
  12. Bruce, Dave, Trevor, Noel, Larry and others, thank you for your interest in this build. Sharing and exchanging views about our builds is a big part of the fun of scale modeling. I am surprised how much interest including a Sunbeam Tiger in this build has stirred interest from many builders. Perhaps because it is not frequently built as a model. If any of you are interested I think Mike's may still have a few kits in stock.
  13. That blue really pops Ray. First time I see one of these Fujimi kits. How does that kit compare to the Revell?
  14. Thank you all. This was a fun build with no expectations because it was fictional. Now I have to get my game together for the next build with Andy looking over my shoulder...
  15. Yes Andy, time to get going on CSX 2196. This was my first Cobra build so learnings will be applied to the one for your group build.
  16. Chris, this is exquisite work. An absolute joy to follow progress of this build. Bravo!
  17. Really good looking model Bruce. I have built this one too and I agree it is a very nice kit.
  18. Many thanks to all for the feedback and support. First time building these 2 kits. Special thanks to JC, Rich, Gramps and others answering all my questions when I was investigating building Cobras. First time also doing a fictional build, really it's because I did not have a way do do an exact replica for the Tiger so that's that. Going back to studying details into replicating a real car. Again a Cobra csx 2196 (entry #1) for Andy's 64 Sebring group build. This one will be anything but OOB for sure...
  19. Hi Gunnar, I use Vallejo primers, about 10% thinning with water, about 3 thin coats. After a few days polish with 4000 to 12,000 cloths. Vallejo acrylic colors, thinned with Vallejo thinner to a milk like viscosity, again 3 thin coats. No polishing. Clear is Tamiya acrylic X-22, thinned with X-20A and retarder. 2 thin coats. After a few days polished 6000 to 12,000 cloths, then Tamiya fine and finish compounds. Regards, Pierre
  20. A fantasy Sunbeam Tiger build turned into a duel when I decided to add a Cobra build to the mix. The Cobra is also a fantasy build but more rooted in reality because I based it on csx 2026 in 63 Sebring spec but portrayed as a fictional, down a few years, privateer racer. The challenge with the Cobra was starting with the Sunny/Minicraft/Revell kit. The kit has series 1 chassis but more or less a late series 3 S/C style body. I did my best to retrofit it to look the part by slimming it down and adding the Sebring spec flares and reshaping the nose opening as well. With the Tiger I just had fun and built big fender flares. My first time doing body alterations...lots of learning in the process. Many scratch built components or detailing stuff from the formidable aftermarket sources, all detailed in the w.i.p. section. All finishes brush painted using a mix of Vallejo and Tamiya products. Thank you for watching
  21. The transkit is amazing to start with but the finishes you have applied and the very intricate wiring and detailing you have added...wow...homerun!
  22. Time to complete this project. Exterior trim (glass, lamps, fuel filler etc), then bringing together chassis, body and wheels. Calling these two done! Complete set of pictures will be taken tomorrow for posting under glass
  23. Very nicely done Tim. This is a hard kit to work out into a model that really looks like the real car. So so much better than my own effort ( the 2 I have built are now in the scale model graveyard) Beautiful detailing and paint finishes.
  24. Thanks Trevor. The GT40 tires have much better proportions vs the kit tires. Only problem is now I have a GT40 without tires...
