Cobra csx2196, the photo 427. Posting on Sebring 64 group build (pages 11-12) in the w.i.p. other section. I know nothing about the new NASCAR so your build has been a good learning. Seems like a decent kit.

Paint looks good my friend. You can do black you can do anything! This is much harder than the little light blue thing I'm working on at the moment...

Superb looking 250 SWB! Nice to see a different type of red on a Ferrari. I wish I could build one of these but they are so rare. Thank you for sharing your w.i.p.

Tamiya Pennzoil Nissan GT R34
Pierre Rivard replied to Paul Waymouth's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
This is really nice Paul. Always great to see one of your models sitting in your awesome shop. The Pennzoil livery gives this modern racer a bit of a classic vibe. Very sharp! -
I said I would put a driver figurine in entry #1. Easier said than done. I had a figurine of unknown origin in my spares but it was far from an easy fit in the small Cobra cockpit. After a lot of cutting and reshaping of limbs here it is. Took 2 days but here it is. I think if I pull it off at the painting stage it will add to the build. Something I really want to repeat on future builds If I can find a source for more figurines. Anybody know the color go the great Ken Miles' racing suit at Sebring in 64? Thinking off-white or powder blue....not sure.

Very nice Tony. Beautiful build!

Your efforts really paid off. Such a wonderful way to do a model. Not just a model but re-creating a scene during the race. 9 tire changes...ouch!
-
Beautifully done, both of them. Nice to see some models of early NASCAR days

Andy, the cockpit has come together in such a beautiful way. Amazing considering the scale. The whole dashboard on this thing is what, maybe 1.5 inch wide?

Update on entry #1 Cobra csx 2196. Now that I have the engine & chassis integration issues relatively under control I have proceeded with the basic body modifications. The car was pretty rough going into the race after rush overnight repairs following an encounter with a tree during practice.... what... there's a tree at Sebring? Anyhow, I chose to model the body without the rushed repairs... or how it would likely be at the start of practice. In summary, adding wheel opening flares, hood scoop, enlarging the nose air intake a bit, adding the 3 extra nose vents and 2 on the hood, adding side vents, relocating the fuel filler opening and adding the "suitcase dings" to the deck lid. Pic of the car in the race and my body. I'll prime it and see if more work is needed.

Looks very very nice sir. I love the darker tone of the gold color you chose. Hope you'll show more pics.

Tommy, your build is just fabulous. Looks like this kit has a lot of great details in it and you really pulled it off. I doubt you'll ever get something half as nice coming from Salvinos so it was a great call to go to Hurd. Stunning build!
-
Beautiful build sir. This one is on my wish list and your's will serve as inspiration.

Coming together in a most wonderful way Andy. All the creativity and engineering so many components add up to a stunning model. Now...finish this one and let's get going on the 64 Sebring group build!

Stunningly beautiful. I'm sure the original did not look so good! -
That's a very good looking Plymouth.

Really exquisite detailing. Looks like you are near the finish line on this long journey.

Wow Gary, what a fabulous collection! All models I wish I can someday build, with the Porsche at the top of the list! Again and again you provide inspiration for the rest of us. Thank you for sharing this collection -
Wayne, this is a beautiful build. I love your presentation with the car on stand and wheels off. The detailing on the engine is great the way you present it. Obviously some very nice detailing and upgrades make that engine most lifelike. Well, well done sir!

Beautiful detailing and the finish on that british racing green body looks so nice. -
Work has started (slowly) on entry #1, CSX 2196 cooked up by Ken Miles. Series 1 leaf spring chassis stuffed with a big block 427. First step, I wanted to lower the ride height on the chassis by 2 mm, making sure to do it with suspension tweaks, not chassis to body relations knowing engine to hood clearance will be a challenge with 427. I like the way she sits now and will work out the fender openings & flares accordingly. Speaking of the 427, that's a big boy! So far I gave kept the kit's trans and the engine comes from a Polar Lights Torino kit. To make room the passenger tub footwells need to be narrowed and I still need to find a carb and filter combo that will clear the hood.
