What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Dpate replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got some interior carpet into the supra interior tub. This is zoomon's interior carpet, but i think it's the sticky felt material and i think it looks the part. -
I'm confused? Are you talking about abteilung 502?

How big is your... stash?
Dpate replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would take a pic, but I'm not at the hobby room right now. If i had to guess i have about 100 in the year & half I've been in the hobby. After i do my last big purchase from plazajapan once i get taxes - I'm going to be officially done buying kits, and just focus on better tools, and more paint. My hobby room is running out of space because of Lego and kits lol. I'm getting to the point where I rather buy paint, primer, tools, and other things instead of a kit that i like that might never get built. I'm still in the process of getting stuff to be able to actually display the models once built instead of just randomly sitting some where collecting dust. -
This is probably the best liquid mask you'll buy. Can put over any paint, any paint can be painted on it, and it comes up no issues at all and doesn't need water to remove which is weird. I came close to getting micro mask one time, but the shop owner warned me against it and recommended this stuff. I thought it was a sale pitch at first, but the stuff is amazing.

There 2nd or 3rd gen? I've been eyeing this stuff for awhile myself, AK makes good products. Been wanting to try the satin and matte myself. Not sure about the 2nd gen but the 3rd gen i know needs thinning with there acrylic thinner.

Has anyone tried this in their 70's?
Dpate replied to landman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've tried it, but not in my 70's cause I'm only 33 lol -

I wish they would just stop making kits in colored plastic to begin with. Grey & black no prob, but yellow, blue etc is dumb. Just save money and make every kit white plastic or cream like moebius. They should know there market isn't no 14+ kids out here buying these expensive kits and just give adults white clean flash free plastic, but that's only a dream though and not a reality sadly.

Anybody Deal with Hobby Search
Dpate replied to TarheelRick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Anytime i order anything straight from japan i use plazajapan.com LOVE them and never had a issue. DHL or fedex through them and get my stuff about a week and a half. Never heard of hobby search though. -
I've never known folks to think Tamiya's tape is too tacky. If i need to de-tack it i just put the tape on the palm of my hand. If Tamiya tape pulled up 6 layers of paint than even cheap painters tape would do the same thing. It pulled up because the paint didn't adhere to the aluminum plate at all the tape is not the issue here at all. You used paint on bare plastic, and than smoothed it out like a babies bottom lol. The tape pulled everything up because the paint wasn't imbedded into the aluminum plate just sitting on top of it so ta speak.

My judgement on MPC with model cars is rough so no way i would ever consider a plane model by them. Trumperter has one but it's 1/32 scale, and you got tamiya, and i think hobby boss would probably have one. I don't know too much about planes, but eduard has a good selection of P-51 mustangs in 1/48 scale. Here is an example, and i own few bi plane kits from them and they get a A+ from me.

I went to HL couple weeks back with a friend and they had couple new kits they never had before, but nothing to wanna drive a hour trip for. Hobbytown, and two mom and pop shops have took all my business because they sell more than just the run of the mill AMT and Revell kit. Unless there is something very specific i need that the other shops don't have or i can't order it than that soccer mom store is pretty much dead to me lol.

Making Windshields and Windows Clearer
Dpate replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Novus #1 works good, but it wont turn a AMT clear part into a Tamiya clear part. -
BMF under or over clear coat?
Dpate replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do it after the clear, and than polish it up with a good quality cotton swab i.e tamiya or use a good quality cotton cloth. -
