I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice this but regular Simple Green doesn't seem to work anymore. It seemed to be the best thing some years ago. spic n span (now mr. clean)seems to still work to de-chrome plastic items but I cant seem to find that super clean stuff. I've been told Castrol doesn't make it anymore.

Unbelievable work Scott! it really came out nice. I've been looking for this one for a little wile now . They really need to re- release this one. The popularity of the vintage off road bikes are really taking off over the last few years. If they ever do I'll be amongst the first ones in line to get my hands on one. I too vaguely remember building this same bike as a kid. Not sure what ever became of it. Love to get the chance to do it again too. Great work! ?

My Willys Pickup
Mike C. replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wow! That looked like it was really involved. the finished product came out really nice. Like the colors you chose. My dad had one of these we used to plow the yard (small construction company) years ago. Had that flathead 4 with the pto setup. my cousin ad I took it out in the woods one night and were running with the trucks with huge lift kits and tires. They were blown away that we were keeping up with them with those skinny stock tires. ? -

I'm usually doing 1/18 diecasts but they didn't seem to make that many a few years back. The original front suspention had steering but it was very delicate and I broke it trying to remove the wheels. It sat apart for a long time and when the GMC went on sale I got one for a lot of parts. I saw on ebay how even the old snap kits were going for crazy money so I felt like I had to save this one. -
Molotow pen modifications
Mike C. replied to Painted Black's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
They are okay for about a few months but after that I found the pen pretty useless. Once the tip dries out, the partys over . I ordered the refill bottle and put some in a small glass paint bottle (availible at most hobby stores). Then I use a toothpick to apply it to detail work. You can use a desposable brush depending on the size of your work. -
I remember building a variation of that bronco kit many years ago. Don't remember ever finishing it . I would definitely buy one again.

on the Jeep, I had to cut off that anemic 4 banger and give it a proper small block Chevy (from one of the '84 GMCs) the trans is from the Jeep. I wasn't using the Blazer wheels so I decided they would look nice on the Jeep. Still have a set of finned valve covers for both engines. The other '72 Blazer is off the shelf all in black for a future build. -
Nice! I've always been a huge fan of the 2nd gen. Blazer. They should re-issue one of these kits. These trucksare starting to really take of in popularity and value. ?

i also stole the steering wheel and gauge decals from the GMC. A little paint detail in the interior. I can't take any credit for the body paint. Mine usually don't turn out that nice. -

I thought about repainting it hugger orange but it seemed like a lot of work. And I already painted the Boondocker Blazer in hugger orange. Had to change the top to Flat black. It just looks better. -
Big fan of the '67 GS 400. My sisters boyfriend came in the house one day and said come see what I just bought. It was the exact white one with black vinyl top black interior, automatic on the console and air cond. and had that really cool Star Wars air cleaner. Some people think that was fiberglass but it was heavy plastic. The other thing that was different was that it was a post coupe and it had the plane wheel covers. It had the B pillar. He wound up putting those Cragar SSTs on it. We went everywhere in the car for a few years until it fell victim to a drunk driver one Halloween night. Total loss. He was lucky to walk away. this was the early 80s and the car still had that new car smell inside. It was one of those Little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays stories. What a great car.

I ruined them when they tore apart when I tried to blot the excess water off them with a piece of paper towel. You would think these windows would be easy to do given that they are flat and supper smooth. I was terrified to try the body graphics because these are curved and not as smooth. I used the testors decal set (its a 2 part deal) The first part is supposed to aid in the initiaI application of the decal and the second part seems to sort of set it after you have applied the decal. I have heard good things about that other decal set. I went on youtube and watched several videos for this. I'm using room temp water with a tiny drop of clear dish detergent in it, soaking it for a minute and letting it sit on a clean paper towel for another minute, wetting the surface down and sliding it on. That part seems to go smoothly. I, being as delicate blotting it so why am I destroying so many decals . At first I thought maybe the decal sheet was too old from the vintage kit but I took the third decal from the re-release kit that came out a few years back and it was just as brittle.?
