  1. on the Jeep, I had to cut off that anemic 4 banger and give it a proper small block Chevy (from one of the '84 GMCs) the trans is from the Jeep. I wasn't using the Blazer wheels so I decided they would look nice on the Jeep. Still have a set of finned valve covers for both engines. The other '72 Blazer is off the shelf all in black for a future build.
  2. Nice! I've always been a huge fan of the 2nd gen. Blazer. They should re-issue one of these kits. These trucksare starting to really take of in popularity and value. ?
  3. It seems like I always have 10 things going at once. I can't focus on one thing at a time like normal people.
  4. i also stole the steering wheel and gauge decals from the GMC. A little paint detail in the interior. I can't take any credit for the body paint. Mine usually don't turn out that nice.
  5. Chief Brody needed a set of Ground Hawgs on his ride.?
  6. That looks really good. Who makes that one?
  7. I thought about repainting it hugger orange but it seemed like a lot of work. And I already painted the Boondocker Blazer in hugger orange. Had to change the top to Flat black. It just looks better.
  8. This started life as a so real diecast blazer. I broke the suspension trying to remove the wheels. I gave it the entire undercarriage of the GMC big game country truck. And gave it a new lease on life.
  9. Big fan of the '67 GS 400. My sisters boyfriend came in the house one day and said come see what I just bought. It was the exact white one with black vinyl top black interior, automatic on the console and air cond. and had that really cool Star Wars air cleaner. Some people think that was fiberglass but it was heavy plastic. The other thing that was different was that it was a post coupe and it had the plane wheel covers. It had the B pillar. He wound up putting those Cragar SSTs on it. We went everywhere in the car for a few years until it fell victim to a drunk driver one Halloween night. Total loss. He was lucky to walk away. this was the early 80s and the car still had that new car smell inside. It was one of those Little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays stories. What a great car.
  10. Thanks. I think I'm going to switch to the q-tip thing.?
  11. I did countless decals when I was a kid and I don't seem to remember ruining too many. I was alot more ham fisted back then ? . I haven't heard of the hair drier tip but now I will have to try that. Thanks.
  12. That's the stuff I've seen before. I think I might have to try that stuff.
  13. I ruined them when they tore apart when I tried to blot the excess water off them with a piece of paper towel. You would think these windows would be easy to do given that they are flat and supper smooth. I was terrified to try the body graphics because these are curved and not as smooth. I used the testors decal set (its a 2 part deal) The first part is supposed to aid in the initiaI application of the decal and the second part seems to sort of set it after you have applied the decal. I have heard good things about that other decal set. I went on youtube and watched several videos for this. I'm using room temp water with a tiny drop of clear dish detergent in it, soaking it for a minute and letting it sit on a clean paper towel for another minute, wetting the surface down and sliding it on. That part seems to go smoothly. I, being as delicate blotting it so why am I destroying so many decals . At first I thought maybe the decal sheet was too old from the vintage kit but I took the third decal from the re-release kit that came out a few years back and it was just as brittle.?
  14. Having ruined 3 of the side window decals for a vintage Boondocker blazer?, I would certainly appreciate any tips on applying the rest of the feathers decals. The body is already painted but nod cleared. Can I spray clear over the the decals after they dry ? Also, Anybody have any extra side window feather decals that they aren't going to use. lots of stuff to trade.
  15. Thanks Mario. My days of riding these things are long since over. my back hurts just looking at this thing. My cousin built more of these bikes he told me a story where a friend of his just built a hardtail and insisted he take it out for a ride. He said " when I went over the train tracks I knew the party was over". Ouch. ?
  16. Thanks Tony! People seem to like the paint. I'm glad it came out as good as it did. I was determined to use the glitter paint but when I couldn't get that to work correctly, it turned out pretty good. I'm definitely going to stick with that Testors Extreme lacquer for future projects. I wish they had pleated the timing cover. The chrome look paint I used looks more like aluminum. I thought about Moloto pen but decided to leave well enough alone. Next time I have to remember to take pictures earlier in the build.
  17. I love to sit and listen to the old war stories from the veterans. Especially the WWII ones. It was just a different time back then. They have a local cable station where I live that runs a show that does just that from time to time. My grandfather served with the Marines then. I believe he was stationed on Guam. He was one of the lucky ones who made it back home. I was too young to understand when he died but my Dad will sometimes tell stories of my grandfathers time in the war.
  18. I meant to say that installing the exhaust proved to be a nightmare. It must have auto corrected and changed it to nighte. ???
