  1. Yes, I think it's one of MPC's better (and maybe the best?) 1/16 scale kits. Definitely nicer in the the details than the recently reissued 1/16 MPC '79 Pontiac Trans AM, and AMT '64.5 Mustang and '55 Nomad. Round2 hasn't reissued it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen within the next few years.
  2. Much like the Revell Jeep Honcho, it's a good starting point, but so much work is still needed due to design simplification or error.
  3. A few more newly listed reissues: AMT 1141 - 1/25 1940 Ford Coupe AMT 1142 - 1/25 1972 Chevy Nova SS "Old Pro" AMT 1143 - 1/25 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS I would bet on full retro box art for the Old Pro Nova, and fauxback '70 style box (ala '70 Monte Carlo and '70.5 Camaro) art for the '70 Chevelle.
  4. Considering it isn't happening to everyone, it's not something the forum is causing. Check your web browser's security setting first.
  5. The downtown Milwaukee skyline has changed a bit since the above picture was taken:
  6. Good ideas, guys, thanks. I decided to skip making a new steering support bracket and stick with the box stock piece, but I still need to address the fuel tank. I haven't made a ton of progress, but have kept busy off-and-on by sanding and preparing all of the parts for paint-- mold seam and ejector pin mark removal, etc. I also replaced the styrene foot loops (not sure what the correct term is) with brass tube as the box stock pieces had some deep ejector pin marks:
  7. That's what they volunteered to do-- moderate the discussions on this forum. Sometimes it seems action is taken too quickly, but I have seen (and been a part of) topics when action was taken too late and things escalated very quickly. Because Gregg trusts their judgement and their ability to decide what's best for the forum membership as a whole. An individual mod's decision may agree or disagree with their own personal opinion, but again, it's about what's best for the forum first.
  8. ...you don't understand that art is neither good nor bad, and that no single person can decide what is and what isn't art. The above is more or less what I learned from Harry discussing this very topic on the forum a few years ago. I feel he had a pretty good grasp on what it means to be an artist, and I certainly learned a great lesson from him.
  9. It's entirely possible it is. Get out your magnifying glass and sleuthing hat...
  10. So it was you who co-wrote the screenplay for The Sandlot.
  11. Those appear to be very old Revell and Renwal molds seen previously in this Craftsmanship Quarterly article: https://craftsmanship.net/parts-recreation/
  12. I don't think I would recommend that part to anyone. I don't have the part on hand anymore, but the 1/16 Revell Chevy Stepside 4x4 kits probably have the closest thing to a Dana 60 rear, but I want to say the front and rear differentials/axle housings are more like a Dana 44. I suspect the 1/16 Revell Jeep kits have Dana 44s, too. *edit* Eh, maybe not...hard to tell:
  13. It's been surprisingly (from my selfish POV) long since this kit has been available at the retail level. I've got the '98 and '99 issues of the stock and custom versions, and it looks like 2002 was the last, and maybe only, time the stock version was reissued, so it's been about 16 years or so. I can forsee a few being sold for parts on eBay after the kart and excellent inline six-cylinder engine are removed, though. Since this month is truck-heavy at Round2...:
  14. Both would be sales flops, IMHO. The '32 Ford 3-Window...maybe.
  15. Anybody open one yet? Still curious about the tires.
  16. I'm 99% sure they are the 11.00-22 tires like so:
  17. The tires in the Revell '66 Penske Racing/Rebel Racer/Stars and Stripes Vette kits are all the same, and identical to those found in the Revell '32 Ford 3-Window kit. I think the front tires might look too small on the '66 Impala, though. A large, full-size car like that would need a slightly taller tire to properly fill out the wheel wells IMHO.
  18. Definitely agree. I had to look hard to find a Revell GMC Syclone kit a few years ago, and the earlier Monogram versions of the S-10, as well as the most recent 3'in1 Revell Lowrider kit are easily north of $50. I'm going to throw in the Revell '72 Olds Cutlass convertible kit(s), even though the Hurst version was released not all that long ago. Excellent Olds V-8, great GM A-body chassis and suspension, and a good donor for updating the JO-HAN '70 Olds cutlass 442. Maybe the Revell Ford Thunderbird SC Coupe kit, too? Really a beautiful kit, and though it's a bit of a one-off subject, I think that adds to it's sleeper appeal. Zero chance it gets reissued within the next twenty years, too. It's sibling Mercury Cougar...maybe, but I don't see as much desire for it as the T-bird.
