  1. That's good info regarding the tires, thanks. The Goodyear Gatorbacks are indeed much nicer, and more appropriate for the car. Nice to see those tire mold still exists, too. Here's Chris'/hpiguy's unboxing video: And a still of the parts, showing the pre-tinted clear parts. I thought that was a thing buried in Revell's past, but, it seems fitting for this particular car.
  2. I wouldn't hold it against them if they did exactly that. Here's the reissued parts pack turbine engine:
  3. That's an excellent description of them. If these 1/16 reissues prove to be popular (Atlantis' words: "We are currently packaging all the H1494 1/16 GE Vega Funny Car. Most preorders have shipped and the first run is nearly sold out."), perhaps they will add something extra for the/a third kit.
  4. Life vests in the watercraft-- usually the law for boat, but less a requirement for inflatables--, but likely not worn by the occupants, especially if it's powered by oars. We had an inflatable, two-person raft we took camping with us in the early '80s, and while we did bring life preservers with us, we rarely wore them, because we could swim and the lake allowed no motors. Are you using the dinghy/raft from the AMT Toyota 4x4 kit, by chance? As mentioned, 4-wheelers were not a thing until 3-wheels were on their way out. Using a 3-wheel ATV instead will lock in the early '80s time period for sure. Use an open face helmet, which were more common that the more expensive and better full-face helmets. We had a blue sparkly one much like this which I wore riding a Yamaha Enduro 125:

  6. I stand corrected. Nice international effort by Revell, though. ? I think those'd be too large for this van. The Arii wheel and tires sets are 1/24 scale, and in this case, I think the small scale difference would be very noticeable. Possibly, but at 1/24 scale and 14" or so, the ID would likely be to large to work with the kit's wheels. The 1/24 Monogram/Revell Chevy Van included the old Monogram Goodyear GT Radial tires, which are a 65 or 70 series tire, IIRC, so maybe too tall and not wide enough to get that '70s "fat meats" look. With the molded in fender flares on this kit's body, anything less than an 8" or 10" wide scale wheel will not look proper IMHO.
  7. The Cragar Mach 8 wheels never really caught on for whatever reason, so ditching them would be an upgrade IMHO. While the choice of Cragar S/S, Keystone Kustomag Klassic, or 5-slots might seem ubiquitous to some, they work well on a retro style van, and it's not difficult to find sets of each in whichever offset and width the builder desires. Same thing with tire choices. We knew the tires in this kit would be the garbage two-piece tires the kits has always included, so again, kit and aftermarket selections abound. Would it have been nice to have one-piece tires included? Sure, but with stateside-molded kits, Revell is going to be limited to the tire molds they have on hand at the IL molding facility they use, and the tires have to actually fit the wheels in the particular kit in question, too.
  8. Agree on both, but to be thorough, I felt it needed to be mentioned. Jesse, I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly) you were comparing these to the older style Revell slicks which were molded in Japan, so I would agree these are a definitely step up from those. Still not on the level of the Aurora 1/16 F/C slicks and tires IMHO, but more than capable. These new slicks and tires should be a direct replacement for the older semi-soft style Revell tires, too.
  9. AMT 1201 - 1963 Chevy II Station Wagon with Trailer Previously disclosed by Steve Goldman here:
  10. I think the jury is still out on the former. The fronts seem to wide, the tread pattern too modern, and there's that molding/fit issue with the inner slick sidewall I mentioned.
  11. The "walls" of the slicks are thick enough that I feel confident they will not sag nor collapse over time, provided they aren't in direct sunlight, a hot attic, etc. The inner sidewalls of the slicks do not quite fully nestle down inside of the outer halves of the slicks as they should, so you will want to address that if you value proper fit and finish.
  12. Content images of the Atlantis 1/16 Green Elephant Vega Funny Car kit here: https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/1606/atlantis-h1494-green-elephant-funny New tires and slicks are acceptable...maybe. I hoped for better.
  13. Atlantis just shipped the first batch of the 1/16 Green Elephant Vega F/C, and the 1/16 Jungle Jim Vega is up next, so your wish will soon be granted.
  14. So, I guess that worked? ? I was surprised to see two(?) reissued a few years ago, but not the 1/16 flatbed trailer. Maybe soon?
  15. I wonder if something happened to this mold, as we've only seen the AMT version multiple times.
  16. Pretty sure the 4x4 specific parts are gone for good on that one.
  17. Most recently, the 1/25 MPC '79 Pontiac Firebird T/A:

  19. New months, new releases...and Chad. ?
  20. I would love to see this one reissued, by whichever company currently has possession of it. Not holding my breath, though... Still hunting for this one, but just have to be patient:
