80's Dodge truck kits?
Casey replied to Furiousgeorge's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looks like the 1/25 scale cab and bed are back, with grilles for 1981, 1987, and 1993 versions: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284376343384?hash=item423626a358:g:fA0AAOSwwUpg9K6w -
After you mentioned the differences, I was curious what the decal sheet looked like, and it appears Round2 included both '78 and '79 style Free Wheeling package stripes, correct? Just tint the clear parts limo dark and boom, it's a '79. ?

Monogram '53 Corvette vs AMT '53 Corvette?

It should be in a 'tin' box, like the others in the USPS stamp series, hence the slightly higher price. -

Revell/Model King '53/'54 Chevy gasser
Casey replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Does Atlantis own the former-Revell '53/'54 Chevy molds? Per your comments regarding the "openable" doors: -
FUN AUTHENTIC MODEL: AMT’s 1/25 1977 International Scout II features a reduced parts count making it a simple enough project for modelers with less experience, but with enough fine detail to satisfy seasoned builders alike! SPECIAL FEATURES: This Retro Deluxe kit stays true to the original with its vintage packaging but comes with an expanded decal sheet for even more decorating options! It features off road vinyl tires, a highly detailed 345 V-8 engine and transmission, authentic front and rear axle assemblies with “snap-lock” free rotation axle pins, and more. QUICK SPECS: 1/25 scale, over 53 parts, and approximately 6.5 Inches long once assembled. Parts molded in yellow plastic, clear, and chrome-plated parts. Deluxe expanded decal sheet included. Paint and model cement are required. Skill 2 rating, for ages 10+.

Atlantis 1/16 Green Elephant Vega Funny Car
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I do. It's unclear to me what the kit's age has to do with my opinion regarding the all-new tires and slicks, however. Considering the tires and slicks are all-new, created in 2021, and not limited by 40+ year old design and technology, I hoped for better. Are they unusable garbage? No, not at all, but "fine", "okay", and "good" are, well, just that-- they could have done better. Aurora had much better one-piece slicks in 1973, so a two-piece slick with a sloppy inner sidewall is a step in the wrong direction. -
Chris, I think I recall you finding the trans you were seeking, but I found this (what I think is a) Roto Hyrdamatic auto trans from a JO-HAN ________ (not from the '63 Olds Starfire kit), so I'm curious (A) which kit it is from, and (B), which 1:1 trans the part is supposed to represent....let's throw in (C), is it accurate, too, while we're at it. First four images are of the red JO-HAN part: Below, a real 1962 Pontiac Hyrdamatic "Slim Jim" (I think): Next, the Oldsmobile Hydramatic "Slim Jim" (I think):

Here are the instruction sheet and an original(?) Monogram release, both of which should provide a good idea of the parts breakdown: https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/247/monogram-p411-dragster

They've been used in both the Tony Nancy Dragsters and '64 T-bolt kits, too, IIRC, but I don't believe Atlantis acquired any tire molds as part of the Revell molds acquisition. Looking at the original Revell instruction sheet, you can see exactly which parts from each parts pack are used, where they are located on the built model, etc.:

"Holy Grail" Models?
Casey replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
True, and you're going to end up scratchbuilding and kitbashing 75% of the model anyway, but still, it's way less offensive than the monster truck version. Now, I'm guilty for having purchased and built the Swamp Monster version in the '80s, but I keep waiting for an original version to pop up on eBay...just need to be patient. ? -

Respirator for 2k Clears (Splash Paints)
Casey replied to DiscoRover007's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's irrelevant what anyone else uses. If they aren't using the proper equipment, it's a moot point to ask. If you have a chance of breathing in a 2K vapor, you need a supplied air supply hood. Anything less is, well, you hoping the chemical reaction which turns two components into one doesn't take place in, on, nor around your alveoli. -
