Casey replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The roofline is too low, and the rear corners of the roof too "sharp". -
Surprise, it's out:

They are lower parts count snap-together type kits, created by Monogram in the early '80s. Typical of Monogram kits from that era, you should expect one-piece or molded in place front suspension, simplified (but separate) rear suspension, and simplified (but separate) engines and opening hoods. Basically, they are a slight step above a promo style kit with molded in everything and molded shut hoods, but a parts count in the 50s or so. From the '84 Monogram catalog: Here's a decent look at the parts breakdown for the Nova kit:

Hilborn 4 hole injector scoop in 1/24 scale

Looks like the existing two-piece injector scoop on this build up. That center decals stripe, where it crests the center bulge, will be a challenge to lay down flat:

I specifically asked Ed Sexton about the ,made-in-Japan tires in at the NNL Milwaukee either right after or shortly before the 2014 reissue of the Hawaiian Charger F/C/. He stated the facility in Japan at which the tires (and slicks, blower belts) were molded was destroyed by the March 2011 Fukushima earthquake/tsunami, hence the need for all new tires and matching wheels. I think we touched on this before, and B&B Tool and Mold Ltd. was the company (or at least the remnant of the previous company?) at which MPC had their mold work done, and maybe Aurora, too? Can't recall the specifics, but there's the topic: Here's a link to a 2008(!) article on B&B Tool & Mold (Mould?), for reference: https://www.thestar.com/business/2008/12/17/tooling_firms_plead_for_auto_aid.html

It is, and would be the kit I'd recommend before the other two. Miles, the 1/12 '67 was created in the late '80s when Monogram and Revell had just about merged and were putting out some of their best kits ever. The 427 tri-power big block Chevy in the 1/12 '67 kit is quite nice, and has optional race style parts, too. That said, the other two are still both very good choices, so maybe availability will be the deciding factor in this case.

1/16 Volkswagen Transporter Samba Bus
Casey replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not sure if you picked one up yet, but for anyone interested in doing so, here's where I bought mine. It took the full 14 days to ship after I placed my order, and there's no tracking for your package when you use the cheapest two methods, but it arrived almost exactly one month after my order was placed: https://www.shop4megastore.com/model-kits/vw-t1-samba-bus-cars-116-level-5-revell-model-kit I looked on eBay for a few weeks, and didn't want the newer Technic kit with the working lights, so this was a good option for me. Erik, did you purchase the panel van version, too? -
Any up dates on the Moebius chevy II gasser ?
Casey replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Take a look at what has been or is soon to be released by Moebius, and you (should at least) quickly realize the Chevy II kits have little to no chance of ever seeing the light of day. It took almost a year for the flatbed trailer to reach the retail level and being announced, and the Chevy IIs never got past the one-off 3D printed stage, so I would place my bet on the folks from IN before those from CA if I wanted to see a first gen Chevy II in 1/25 scale. -

Any news of Revell do something this year !
Casey replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It likely won't be out until late fall at Revell's current leisurely pace. We still haven't seen the Chevy custom van kit which was announced in 2020. Better grab a Snickers... -
Ford F-3.5 COE
Casey replied to Casey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Ready to roll. I used the rear brake drums (not shown) from the AMT Ford C-600 kit, which filled out the rear inner wheels nicely. Still need paint and some detail sanding, but, mostly there: -
If it's physically in someone's hands and they are able to read the kit description, it's hard to imagine that persons glossing over the scale which is also *right there*...The size of the box alone should give anyone with a half0decent idea of scale some pause if they've never ventured out of the bi-scale comfort zone. The only issue I have is the pictured injector scoop is not included in the Vega F/C kit (but is found in the Garlits R/E T/F dragster, IIRC), and the windshield notch smaller than pictured, too, but those are very minor things. Looking forward to seeing what Atlantis is including for tires and slicks, so, hopefully optimistic at this point.
-
The Lil Coffin's whitewall inserts are molded with the rest of the kit. Both the Lil Coffin and Boot Hill Express were last released in 2013 and 2012, respectively, and molded stateside, so unless new Revell kept them, there's a very good chance Atlantis has them. I suspect the former, though, so I wouldn't be surprised to see both run again within the next few years.
-
It doesn't work that way. Plus, the Lil' Coffin wheels have ejector pin marks on the outside face of the rim...no thanks. The 1/16 Green elephant Vega F/C, 1'32 '82 Camaro Z/28, '69 Nova SS and '57 Cadillac are all available to pre-order now: https://atlantis-models.com/model-vehicles/
