  2. I agree. Some vintage box art would be a great idea, but I think they are keeping it limited to kits which have recently been, or can be reissued. Still, they have a deep vault from which to choose box art: I want nothing to do with building these kits, but the box art appeals to me:
  3. Started as this...: ...then became this:
  4. I would suggest starting here, and reading through the remaining posts:
  5. It's strange, as the runner which connects all four lenses is still connected in my kit, so it's not like an extra set was added during packaging. I thought back to the discussion regarding the extra tail light trim pieces found in the early Mustang kits, and how someone (Mark, Don, ??) mentioned AMT molded an extra for when workers hand assembled the promotional models, sometimes the part was dropped/lost, so an extra was close at hand. Not sure if that applies here, but it is what it is. Guess it's a good problem to have.
  6. Ah, that makes sense. Guess we'll keep our fingers crossed, then.
  7. I didn't realize the Corvette SS Hatchback and California Street Vette were concurrent issues back in 1980: I always assumed the 5-slot wheels used on the CA Street Vette were a separate insert, shared with the '55 "Chev" Street Machine (shown above the CASV, above), but the ET=X wheels on the SS Hatchback seem to have been a one hit wonder, now lost forever. I noticed the Nova has a '70s style hood scoop now, too, which, IIRC, it never had?: The 1/32 '82-ish Pontiac Firebird F/C Pepsi Challenger, is also slated for reissue, though I don't think there's been any announcement made regarding if it'll be a well-known/sponsored version or something generic, with aftermarket decals in the works:
  8. I think for the former you'd be far ahead by starting with the 1/32 Camaro F/C kit, and modifying the nose as needed. But, yes, the Nova body could be stretched a bit to fit over the F/C chassis.
  9. Also noticed a few old time items in the MPC Beverly Hillbillies kit:
  10. Here's the '40 Willys Coupe box top:
  11. The Bed Bug version was also molded in orange:
  12. I don't recall if they specifically stated they bought molds from Round2, but maybe it was mentioned in that other topic?
  13. The 1/24 Monogram '55 Chevrolet...: ...and after the hardtop was permanently affixed to the convertible body shell, it became two* kits: *mostly the same kit, with various parts differences-- wheel tires, exhaust dumps, decals-- but the core remains common. Look on the underside of the body shell, under the tulip panel area, and you'll see two distinct kit number for YELLOW and BLACK.
  14. No, thank you for providing details. If it is from Dan Models we should all have good reason to be cautious. What you received is significantly different than what it should be, and does appear to be of lesser quality than what others have received and what is shown in the listing. Granted, that appears to be an early cast or possibly the master with p/e parts in place, but still, the grey cab you received is not on that same quality level. I would definitely try to get a replacement.
  15. No, nothing has been announced, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for Round2 to reissue it again, as they did reissue it in 2013 under the correct MPC label. The kit Ron wrote about in the original post was released earlier, and packaged under the AMT label by RC2, who wasn't very cognizant of either company's history: Not sure why it says "Brand New Tool", as I am pretty sure it was the same MOC kit as previous issues. Here's what the box of the 2013 reissue looked like: Pics of the original(?) issue, showing the one-piece body shell, hard plastic tires with iffy inner sidewalls, simplified construction and low parts count:
  16. Test shots of the 1/32 '71 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Street Machine, 1/32 '69 Nova SS Street Machine, 1/32 '82 Camaro Street Machine, 1/24 El Camino F/C, and the misshapen ex-Revell 1/25 Jungle Jim Camaro F/C Atlantic shared on facebook:
  17. While the original Unreal Roller box (and reissues, from what I can tell) doesn't actually feature any artwork by Tom Daniel, it certainly has that early '70s Monogram look, which many associate with TD-designed kits. Son Kelly's artwork does nothin to evoke nostalgia as it appears to be all digitally created-- a distinct difference from Tom's original artwork. Now Kelly's art doesn't have to be the same as his father's, but something feels off, and it feels like a lost opportunity for Atlantis to me. I'm sure the kits will sell just fine, but great nostalgic box art never hurts. If what we see on the new box art is what the decals will be, that's also disappointing, for the same reason I mentioned above. Don't mess with the classics, Atlantis.
  18. Thanks. I just found and added a pic of the real dash with the decal sheet, too.
  19. The Fired Up Zinger.
  20. Picked up these chrome parts on eBay, mostly for the SMP (AMT?) 1961(?) Chevy Pickup parts, especially the dog dish hub caps: There were some AMT '63 Thunderbird parts included, too, including the complete parking meter, speargun, Kat from AMT, and helmet: And some AMT '63 Impala asymmetrical custom parts: :
  21. ? Original, Monogram Dog Catcher...: ...and as it exists now:
  22. I should've mentioned the James Bond/007 issue includes two instrument panel decals, presumably for two different interior trim levels: Below is a 1970 Ford Galaxie 500 XL dashboard:
  23. I agree, but it looks like Brian updated his Workbench topic to reflect that it isn't a Dan Models cab. I think Dan Models only sells direct, but it's always possible to buy second hand.
