  1. I think the context was related to the SoCal housing boom, and how this particular subdivision was booming. Head over to www.shorpy.com and browse away. You could easily spend months going through all of the images, and best of all, they are all large, high-resolution images. Build ideas galore, not to mention all the detail you can pick out to add to your projects, too.
  2. Thanks, that's an oldie. ?
  3. Is the AMT Trailmobile Moving Van the only original 1/25 scale AMT trailer which has yet to be reissued by Round2? The reefer version of the Fruehauf 40' trailer is due out within the next few months in Coors livery, but the others I believe have all been reissued, some multiple times.
  4. Because, Cycolac. I found in interesting that Cyclolac as still being used in 1968, but with the mention of Marbon Chemical on the box, which, IIRC, was one of the partners in the AMT Speed & Custom shop/projects, and what the bodies of the Piranha(s) was(were) molded from.
  5. I think this is a White truck (hard to make out the script lettering on the hood side)? Quite the custom made grille guard, too:
  6. Recently completed eBay listing for the 1/32 Revell/AMT 1/32 '56 Chrysler New Yorker: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Revell-AMT-56-Chrysler-New-Yorker-Deluxe-1-32-Vintage-Model-/284166909161?nma=true&si=yzuKnimeATEx%2FZXWtarHjQVcT44%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  7. The Monogram cases seem to be the most detailed, but the accuracy and fidelity of the others is questionable, especially the AMT Blazer/Jimmy case. It might be best if the silver case remains a mystery forever, though. ? Thanks for the images and info. I have scoured many eBay listings and the 1/24 Monogram Jeep CJ-7's case is decent, too, but I don't think it's a 205. Moebius Ford pickup cases didn't wow me, and the MPC Dodge pickup and Jeep CJ-5 and Commando cases aren't great, either.
  8. The '55+ Pontic V8 architecture is the same, differing in bore, stroke, and accessories, so an early 287 block, heads, etc will look much the same as the largest 455 V8. No idea if the Monogram '80/'81 Turbo 301 T/A's engine was accurate in the first place, but the base is accurate for a '70. Good info here: https://www.enginebuildermag.com/2018/01/history-lesson-pontiac-v8-power/ It was mentioned long ago here, in a topic likely no longer in existence, but the MPC Boss Bike kit... ...was heavily modified and turned into the Ice Cycle: I recall pickup up the mis-labelled RC2 era reissue of the Ice Cycle, posting images of the contents, and someone mentioning some of the extra/unused parts (the frame IIRC) were from the Boss Bike.
  9. Thanks, I updated my post.
  10. All good. It gets messy when there are two identical kits from two previously separate and distinct companies, and the then-owner, RC2, made no effort to retain any distinction between the two. I think the same or a similar thing happened with the '75-ish Nova release, too. I had the Mustang GT Road Racer version of the AMT Mustang II kit a few years ago, and I think it would make a great reissue, though the kit itself wasn't overly impressive. Hopefully that can happen within the next few years.
  11. 1/25 Revell '31 Ford Model A Sedan includes two longboards with integrally molded skegs:
  12. Here's a better shot of the headliner part on the 1/16 Revell VW Kafer Sun Roof kit: And the aforementioned 1/16 Revell VW Karmann-Ghia, which to my knowledge, has never been was also reissued in 2013 (Thanks, Daniel):
  13. There are posts going back to 2010 stating exactly what you have said, but very, very few posts in which people have actually created their own. Considering the O.P. didn't ask for a tutorial or links to posts in which people created their own from scratch, then purchased a kit-supplied board, I don't think it was too much of a stretch to suggest seeking out others.
  14. Sure, it can be done, but unless you know the various shapes and nuances of the hundreds of different types of boards, not to mention the skegs (thanks, Jairus), you are in for a lot of work. It's not that expensive to collect many of the different varieties found in kits, really, so while you can make your own from raw materials, I suspect this is one of the cases in which most will opt to buy one which is pre-made, so to speak.
  15. AMT-PP30 1/25 Firestone Drag 500 Big Slicks Parts Pack
  16. I thought someone here mentioned not long ago the MPC Mustang II is a bit of a hodge-podge now, mixed with the Pro Stock kit, last issued as the Fire Fighter? The AMT Mustang II it has been long OOP, and it's sibling Capri II, too.
  17. Below are a few pictures of the various transfer cases I have collected, but if someone more familiar with the correct identification (i.e., Rockwell T221, etc.) of which real parts these represent in scale would be immensely helpful. Pic #1 Column 1: Red TC: 1/24 Monogram Chevy Stepside 4x4 Silver TC: Unknown Red TC half: Unknown Column 2: Off-white TC halves: 1/24 Monogram Dodge Ramcharger? Blue TC halves: 1/25 MPC Chevy Stepside 4x4 (still found in '84 GMC 4x4 "Deserter") Column 3: Blue TC halves: 1/24 Monogram Ford F-150 "High Roller" White TC halves: 1/25 AMT '78 Ford 4x4 Pickup Column 4: Red TC: 1/24 Monogram Ford Ranger(?, has slightly slimmer input stem compared to stepped input on blue Monogram TC to its left) Red TC half: 1/24 ???? Does not match the other two 1/24 Monogram TC case parts, has no input stem at all (see last image) White TC halves: 1/25 Revell Jeep J-10 Honcho
  18. Teaser pic of the final packaging on Instagram means it should be here every soon.
  19. They have a few pops up to be notified, but AdBlocker Plus can take them out. Nothing harmful. Go to the Spot Model site, where the price is listed. $200 kit and $1081.05 for the detail set puts the admission price at almost $1300, but insanely detailed with 180+ machined aluminium parts.
