“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 66 GAPP & ROUSH PRO STOCK PINTO
M W Elky replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Unfortunately neither issue has a feature of the cover car , but here’s a couple pictures from the super ford pro stock article I hope this helps you out -
Wow that’s an awesome kit bash project. I’m really digging the Tom Daniel’s paint scheme and the clear red hood scoop really pops . Well done .

Man this is one fine looking vette gasser and a great kit bash idea . Those contrasting greens look fantastic with a nice choice of period decals . The use of the steel wheels on the back really stand out nicely. This looks like a really fun project . Well executed

“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 66 GAPP & ROUSH PRO STOCK PINTO

This is the sought after mpc gapp & roush kit . The paint is testors metallic blue enamel. With replacement decals from chuck bohner . This is a really nice building kit, and a pretty accurate 70’s era pro stock . It would also lend itself to some advanced detailing . It would be really nice if round 2 reissued this one so that every one can get them for a reasonable cost. Until next time thanks for looking ? -
“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 65 Phil Bonner’s 1964 A/FX FORD FALCON

Hi John I didn’t think the trumpeter kit was to bad as it worked out for this project. This was the only trumpeter kit I’ve ever had. I did use the trumpeter chassis plate. In my opinion the rear wheels are a little too far back in the wheel opening. Thanks for the congrats . That write up was a really great surprise for me. -
One of my all time favorite Sox & Martin cars well done ?

Gorgeous paint nice work

There are some great combinations here. If I had to pick a favorite it’s the Java express
-
The paint on that 68 Shelby is just stunning well done
-
Very cool stuff here you have a great imagination

They are all so impressive, but that big foot truck is my favorite. I can remember when it stopped at are local ford dealership. They unloaded it off the trailer changed the wheels, and crushed some cars. It was just awesome.
-
They all look great however that VW camper is really something. We had VW vans in our family business to deliver flowers in when I was a kid .??

These c-1 corvette kits can be built as so many different kinds of racers especially drag cars . The stance looks great and I really like the color and the grills cut out. It looks perfect

A slightly more accurate Grumpy's 66 nova

It came out great ? I did the same thing with a $5.00 glue bomb ? -
This was built from the revell jungle Jim kit . The wheels were left overs from a polar lights funny car . The white paint is topped with a heavy coat of pearl clear. The decals came from woopiekat , and at first glance looked a little intimidating. However they went on very nicely and fit perfectly. His decals are definitely missed as he had such great subject matter and great quality . Until next time thanks for looking ?, Mike

WOW this is a perfect kit bashing project. It has me inspired to use chassis under an early corvette body. MPC kitted this chassis with a mid 70’s corvette body, and called it the vette gasser

I see a couple of demons and some Mach one funny cars in my future , and how can I resist the Ford pickups . Round 2 has really stepped it up , and along with the awb mopars Ford pickups, and the possibility of a maverick from Mobius . It may just might be another golden era in car modeling. Oh and having the vintage style box art is just the icing on the cake.

“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 65 Phil Bonner’s 1964 A/FX FORD FALCON

Thanks getting into print was such huge surprise for me . I hope it’s inspirational to everyone -
I started out with the Trumpeter 1964 falcon kit and kit bashed it with revell’s iconic thunderbolt kit . The light blue paint job is from a short cut can of Krylon. The decals were from scale modeling by Chris who sadly is no longer with us as he made some great stuff. The chrome front steel wheels are from the revell 49 mercury. The inboard air duct besill’s were cut out of the thunderbolt grille. The thunderbolt also gave up its complete drivetrain. This was a very rewarding build of an iconic Phil Bonner drag car . Until next time thanks for looking, ? Mike
