Hot Rod Journal is one of my most favorite magazines. Their website the jalopy journal https://www.jalopyjournal.com/ may have a few photos as well.

Great detail shots. Now I want to purchase that ICM Model T kit. -
Wow...very impressive model and build...Never had the pleasure of owning one of these Moebius kits.

With the those wheels, tires and bomber seats, this baby is just begging for a flat head... Looks damn cool.

Love the 60 Ford Starliners that appear at our local car shows and it appears your build is going to be delightful...

Love 39 and 40 Fords. This 4 door sedan is spectacular. Does it still have the flathead V8? -
Outstanding idea and build.

My 1960 Corvette
Kenmojr replied to Kenmojr's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Me and my Corvette at a local car show in 2014. My two passions in life, my 1960 Corvette and the St Louis Blues of the NHL. Photo snapped by a friend. -
I've been following Rod Halligan on Instagram and Youtube for a couple of years now. He is an automotive designer who uses Blender and Rhino 3D Instagram https://www.instagram.com/rod_halligan_1/ youtube He used to have a lot of Blender youtube tutorials on modeling cars mostly Porches and Ferraris. But he also modeled hot rods and the Duesenberg Mormon Meteor, however he removed all his tutorials when Ferrari was opposed to Rod using the prancing horse logo on his 3D creations, Rod took down all the 3D modeling tutorials and left youtube. However he has recently returned but with no car modeling tutorials. Rod is a gifted 3D modeler. I also like Andy Luck who models cars in Blender and a very talented 3D artist. I also follow him on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/andy.luck3rdfeb/ and on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcYqDLSZZVs_4Ng7_0Vsduw where he has lots of car modeling tutorials. We are also friends on Facebook and chat regularly. He has been a wealth of information to me. Andy is also a friend of the gent you owns AMF model cars. https://www.instagram.com/amfmodelcars/?hl=en

Perhaps there should be a room or section - not sure which they are called here for "3D Printing, modeling and Computer Talk" as this is a very complicated and broad topic that also involves computer hardware, software, 3D modeling apps (3D Max, Blender, Lightwave, Silo3D, Cinema 4D, etc) vs CAD programs (Autocad, Turbocad, etc) vs Sculpting apps (Mudbox, Zbrush, 3DCoat), polygonal modeling vs nurbs & curves, graphic cards come into play as well as it seems most prefer Nvidia over AMD because of CUDA support, 3D scanners vs photogrammetry and which photogrammetry software (Meshroom, Reality 3D, MetaShape, 3D Zephyr, etc), what type of 3D printer FDM, SLP, etc. I can see this thread going into multiple directions. Just my 2 cents and sorry if I offended anyone, not my intent.

Sketchfab has a few cars. Some are free. They have both 3D scans of real cars captured via photogrammetry and models that are created completely from scratch in Blender, 3DMax, Maya or CAD apps. Most are downloadable in OBJ format or FBX. which can be converted in some 3D apps to STL. This raw scan is on $9.99 Rusty Bakery Wagon (Raw Scan) - Buy Royalty Free 3D model by Renafox (@kryik1023) [e3f7073] (sketchfab.com)

For free hand drawing, sketching & painting I use ArtRage which is on sale presently for $47 https://www.artrage.com/artrage/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwjIKYBhC6ARIsAGEds-LHVn6phlnUFNGq2RVgoaKcqDo3L0DzyuFYQvWY3zemON7JujsUEWwaApJUEALw_wcB I also use Rebelle 4 although version 5 is not. I used Rebelle on the 1954 Chevy. https://www.escapemotions.com/products/rebelle/about A few pro artist, especially comic book and manga artist are using Krita which is FREE. I've tried Krita and it's a nice program but I go back to Artrage & Rebelle because I know them better and not because they are better. https://krita.org/en/ It is recommended you have a Wacom tablet and stylus attached to your Windows or Mac computer. At first I did not like the Wacom attached to my Windows computer but after two weeks I would not go back to drawing with a mouse. The stylus nicely replicates the pencil, pen, brush feel depending on which tool you are using in Krita, ArtRage or Rebelle.

This is a scifi illustration I created a few years ago, all digitally... "Evening Flight Over the City" It was influenced by my youthful fascination with Marvel Comics artist Jack "the King" Kirby and Heavy Metal artist Moebius...

Cool thread. I've used my Nikon D7000 and a piece of photogrammetry software "3DF Zephyr" to scan in a few of my diecast car models. Because of their shinny surfaces, cars are very difficult to convert to a 3D mesh. And the resulting 3D mesh is very rough and requires a lot of clean up or even may need to be retopologyzed.

But looks much worse in Blender when I disable the textures. I've ben told by the 3DF Zephyr crowd on their forum and also on discord, the bumps and holes are caused by light reflecting from the shiny surface. I am no expert in photogrammetry, just a novice want to improve my skills. I do have 15 years experience working in 3D apps like Wings3D, Hexagon3D, Silo3D, e-onsoftware's Vue, DAZ Studio and now Blender and MOI3D. Any feed back, opinions or tips would be much appreciated.

Exported mesh from 3DF Zephyr as an obj and imported into Blender 3.1 Mesh looks ok with textures on but not great or acceptable IMHO.
