Seems like some strange instructions and parts fit issues. Anyone else have trouble?

A while back I purchased a mid 90’s Monogram Thunderbird NASCAR kit. It seems like a good kit except the body seems quite thin, it is warped badly and so flimsy it is almost like vinyl. Does anyone have advice on strengthening? Thanks

I started this kit some time ago and ran out of bare metal foil. I then moved and lost all the chrome. The kit then sat in storage for close to a year before finally getting some BMF plus another kit to replace the chrome. The gasser front suspension and the headers came from the Spirit of 57 kit. Wheels and tires from the parts box, Slixx decals finished it off.

Thanks to everyone for your advice. Rustoleum was my primer of choice but lately it’s been spraying on powdery. Also had trouble with their white topcoat so I switched all my paint to Tamiya, but they don’t have a black primer.

Can anyone recommend a good black primer, I’m done using Rustoleum.
