  1. Cyanoacrylate is one of the "C"s in ACC/ superglue. Polymerize in simple terms is a chemical reaction. The gasses created and released during polimerization can further react with other materials in the immediate area. If you ever experienced fogging of clear and /or "chrome" model parts when using ACC, this is why.
  2. I'd wonder if your glass lid has a thin layer of plastic to help keep it from breaking or to make it safer to handle if it breaks? To answer your question about evaporation, most plastic model cements cure by evaporation of a solvent. I believe ACC reacts with elements (hydrogen?) in the air. 2-part products usually have a chemical reaction, with some kind of off gassing. I don't know much about the UV cured glues.
  3. If it si outside trim/ gasket on the 1:1. then I would paint the outside to get the correct sheen/ gloss
  4. Somewhere I've seen that you can use the clear part of "googly eyes" as a bucket. I've never tried it.
  5. from what I've gather, Ford used the Fairlane body for Cobra, Talladega, and Torino as well Fairlanes. Cobras and Talladegas could only be ordered with the 428 Cobra jet or Super Cobra Jet engines. Talladegas were built with a C-6, while Cobras could have a C6 or Toploader. Talladegas had the aero nose extension and modified rocker panels that the Cobra did not. Talladegas were all fast backs, while Cobras could be fast back or hardtop. And of course Cobras and Talladegas had beefier suspensions.
  6. After re-reading the post, I realize I misunderstood what was being asked. I thought the question was about selling prints of purchased files. As stated, for access to printers, some file sales sites do have options for getting prints made. Libraries can be a valid option, but my local one has a time limit of no more than 3 hours for a print. And their printer isn't big enough for bodies. I'd also bet there are maker-labs where you can get access to a printer (for a fee plus materials) out there in larger cities. Most of the local 3D printers here are geared toward large numbers of one part.
  7. Shoe boxes really need side trim and bumpers. Otherwise they just look slab sided.
  8. Tracking says Thursday, but it also shows it is in town.
  9. That is why I said could, not will. But the post was enquiring about a business opportunity and I interpreted it as they would be printing items to sell using someone else's file.
  10. It depends on what the seller of the file specify. Some people who sell files specify they are for personal use, not commercial. You could feasibly face a lawsuit if you sell items printed from files you purchase.
  11. I'll be watching. this is my kind of build: different.
  12. If you go with cycle fenders, some older kits had them. Monogram '32 Ford, Black Widow pick-up, and Model T come to mind. Or you could use the tire covers from continental kits.
  13. you could look at cheap, disposable lighters or perhaps markers for the general shape of the tank.
  14. The Cannonball run was also a real race that was run in 1971, 1872, 1975, and 1979
  15. To clarify my remark about the Chevy: I'm a fan of odd engines.
  16. Rule of thumb: locks only keep honest people out. No matter what security measures are taken, the thieves are one step ahead.
  17. I hate spell check. That should be notching the grille shell.
  18. How about using a "suicide" spring perch and nothing the center of the grille around the mount?
  19. I have to say that I don't get how anyone can just sit and do nothing. As for the question at hand, I built a radio with my father when I was a kid. I actually asked him if we could. So radios must be toys too.
  20. I will definitely follow this build. I'm curious about how you will handle the retention straps molded into that NASCAR rear window. Keep them or remove them somehow?
  21. In the end it boils down to 1) demand and 2) what value a person places on it. And as stated before, a bad repair or restoration on one does not mean all examples will have issues. you get what you pay for
  22. I've got it now. That blurry second picture was causing me a bit of confusion.
