What did you see on the road today?
rattle can man replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Teal metallic and white '60 Caddy convertible with color-matched trailer and FED. I was driving, so no pic. -
No offense to Porsche lovers, but I never thought someone could make them even uglier.

Revell Lincoln mark VII pro street.

If I recall correctly, that kit was based off of the matt and Debbie Hays T-Bird. That's why it is a tad short. -
Still no rain. Nothing significant since August.

Scale Motorsport has them. I have no idea if they are the same as the originals. -
I did not notice instructions for the Prestige edition, just the follow-on release with the gray car box. try looking at the other previous releases for instructions. I do have an annual release somewhere in my stash. It had the Yenko Stinger optional build along with some custom parts.
-
Years a go a farmer in NW KS had a race prepped flathead in a ford tractor. It made one of the hot rod magazines.
-
Scalemates has the instructions for the release after the Prestige. Just search instructions for Corvair and scroll down.

One thing I noticed with Bondo glazing putty is a chopped top on a '65 Pontiac I built 20 years ago has shrunk and you can now see the seams. And as for 2-part putties, If you use a product that is not proven by other modelers, test it on scrap before you use it on your model. I one tried regular 2 part automotive filler (maybe 35 years ago, so maybe chemistry has changed.), and as it cured, it created enough heat to warp the hood.

30s cars made into trucks
rattle can man replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As for proportions, what are you after? I will give you that the proportions may look odd, but the kits that were marketed to convert coupes to pickups were designed to slide into the existing opening. I believe the factory '36 Chevy Coupe-pickup used the factory opening with bed extensions added. If the body work was cut away, you can either build a custom bed or utilize a stock truck bed. A used truck bed would probably have been the cheapest -

what about glass form the '55 panel delivery? I don't have either to check, but at least the front end looks similar. -
The bezels are not perfect circles correct? From the pictures I've seen (I am a Ford guy, so I'm not really familiar with Camaros) they look like squares with rounded corners and slightly curved sides. From all I've read on this sight and experienced you have 4 options: 1) hand form some strip stock of appropriate size and shape to fill the gap or create a new bezel 2) make a template and cut a replacement from sheet stock. 3) you could make a clay mold of the area, clean up the flawed area in the mold to restore the shape and cast a new bezel. If the bezels are identical on the left and right, you could try just making a mold of the good side. 4) Use filler to build up the area, then sand to shape.

two Rivian pickups. My first real world sighting. much better looking than the Cyber Truck, but still not what I would call good looking. -

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
rattle can man replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
They get to my door or box eventually. It's getting there that takes forever. An order from Texas took 10 days via 8 postal facilities to get to KS. I could have driven there and back in 2 days. -

Show flyers Plastic undercover show
rattle can man replied to Tom Kren's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
that date is a bummer. If it weren't for an upcoming surgery I would try to be there. I didn't mean any disrespect by asking about the date and location. It's just that locally, I end up missing out on events like concerts and festivals because no one advertises in advance. you only learn about them after they are over from media coverage. -
I did not intend this to be a diatribe on EVs. My intent was simply a discussion of studies.

Monogram '30 Ford Coupe
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you. That will determine how I do the builds in the future. I have an original issue plus the connoisseur series. -
Does anybody know if the stock '30 Ford Coupe in the Special Interest Series (dated 1974) has any of the optional parts from the 1962 6 'n 1? I have looked up the instructions on Scale Mates, but they aren't shown. Thanks in advance.

All of these look good on period appropriate build. modern wheels look out of place on muscle cars or hot rods. Are we talking Raider or Radir Wheels?

still waiting on the link. getting kind of frustrated here. I have used the contact info on the webpage twice since #225 was released and still nothing! -
the traffic law I was never taught: you must stop to merge at a lane closure and cause a major back-up. Then drive 20 through the zone, even though it is posted 55 and no workers present.
