world endurance championship
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks stitchedup, but that was 2024. 2024 was available on Max. at this point, I am assuming no change, but the lack of finding anything on the 2025 season has me questioning it. My last resort is YouTube. they will carry the series, but I don't need another subscription. -
Black wash for grille?
rattle can man replied to Steamboat's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thinned, cheap black craft paint. thinned Tamiya is my second choice. both easily removed if needed and durable. I've tried panel line washes (takes multiple applications), thinned Testors (If you use thinner to remove from areas you don't want it, you risk damaging the finish), and india ink in isopropyl alcohol (can react with finishes). -

world endurance championship
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tried google, duck duck go, and Norton search engines. All I get is listings for 2024 or other countries, even when I use 2025 in the search. -
Yes, finding craftsmen you can trust is getting hard. the shop I took my vehicles to was an old school (as in he could work on a carburetor as easily as he could modern EFI). Two stall shop and always a lot full of customer cars. Always at least a week or two before you could get the work done, but it was done right, and cheaper than a dealer. Since he closed shop, I haven't really found someone I trust.

Being a non-GM person, I would think any small block Buick engine (215, 300,340, 350) could be used. 340 was only available 66-67 according to that famous pedia, If you are okay with 3d printed, at least one of the businesses that post in the aftermarket section has one (not sure if I can post which one).

I missed that you did an engine swap.

The photo of the street on the right looks better than those in town here. County does a much better job. -
sun cured body filler?
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wouldn't worry about the sun warping it. what Bill said is correct. I probably won't try it, at least what they have on the shelf. The blister packs are yellowed, not clear. That tells me it is old, thus it might not give me a good impression and then I miss out on something good. If I do decide on it, I will use it on some scraps first. -
Tinting Windshields for Gassers.

transparent acrylic paint on the inside? acrylic floor polish tinted with food coloring, (again on the inside)? the reason I say acrylic is it is less likely to affect the clear plastic by hazing/ frosting, etc. it -
Engineers and product designers absolutely need to have experience repairing things before they graduate. then maybe things would be easier to repair and maintain. maybe no more having to remove a wheel to change the sparkplugs.

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
rattle can man replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Waited an hour in line for them to serve 8 people. asked them not to attempt delivery of a package since they cannot get up my snow covered driveway. I was going to pick it up today. It is now out for delivery again. -
sun cured body filler?
rattle can man replied to rattle can man's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I was just looking at it as an inexpensive option from a store that sells cheap stuff. But I was wondering if it really works since this is in a clearance store and I've never seen it anywhere else. -
Has anyone tried name brand, sunlight cured body filler? I've never heard of it before. I guess it is just similar chemistry to any material that sets with UV light. A small, local shop that is a clearance/ liquidation type of store has some (likely at or near expiration date).

Them. And, at least for today, almost everyone in town here.

Modern version of a board track race car 20-30s
rattle can man replied to Stanward VonDiederichs's topic in WIP: Model Cars
nice looking build. There are Fronenac speed parts for model T four bangers in the AMT 1927 model-T phaeton kits (at least thin the XR6 double kit. Laurel and Hrady, and vintage police car versions for sure) and there were Model A speed parts in the double kit of the Ala Kart and Model A. From Revell. the 31 Model A sedan and '29 model A pick-up have four banger speed parts. Both Revell kits used the same parts, possibly Ansen? -
looking good! strangely, I like the look of the body with no front fenders, and the roof sitting that way makes me think chop the top.

city patching potholes. Use a leaf blower to get the snow and standing water out, shovel in some cold patch and move on. no attept fo even level it,, so the next time they plow, it's rinse and repeat. -
people. but not the people on this forum.

Michaels getting rid of models?
rattle can man replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
earlier this year my local Michaels did clearance out all of their model kits and supplies, along with a huge chunk of the other craft stuff. There were 0 kits for about two months. They have completed a reset of the store and the shelves now have about the same amount space dedicated to models. But the selection is limited. -
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the fires, including first responders and their families too. I know everyone whose house/ business burned will have some tough choices ahead of them. Hopefully they find the cause/ culprits, the looters, the drone operators and the scam artists sooner rather than later.

I love snow, just not people who don't have a clue on how to deal with it. We got 14 inches of snow a week ago. As of today, some two-way streets are still only one lane wide (even at traffic lights), turn lanes not plowed. People saying their streets haven't been plowed (with security video to prove it), but city says all have been done once, working on second passes. They have moved onto repairing the patches their plows ripped up with ice and water still in them. Gave up on getting someone to plow my driveway Friday and a postal truck slid off of it into my yard tonight. Winter was so much easier in Alaska. Everyone respected it, drove and planned accordingly. Just put down sand (road salt doesn't do much in double digit below 0 temps) and plow only major snowfalls. The pavement will be there in a few months. Along with the mosquitos.

Wasn't the engine in the AMT kit supposed to be a 413?
