One of my favourites, too. Yours is looking great. Very nice. -
Nice build. As mentioned above, I too think Superbirds and Daytonas make odd looking drag cars. Still very cool, though. You did a nice job on this classic kit. Good job on saving the decals, some of those JoHan decals don't age well. Your masked paint lines are nice and crisp. Well done.

Welcome to the forum, Robert. There are a couple of threads discussing 3D printing, and several forum members are quite proficient. Good luck with it all. -
If I was going to use silver as a barrier, that's the way I would do it. A light coat of primer to prepare the plastic for paint, then your coat of silver. At that point, you can paint your body colour over the silver, or another light coat of primer over the silver first, then paint. Depending on how smooth everything is, you may want to do some light sanding of the silver/primer before laying down the final colour. However, if you are worried about paint build-up, you could probably get away with no primer at all. Paint your silver over the bare plastic, then your colour. Something to keep in mind; If you are doing any masking, sometimes the tape can pull the colour coat off the silver base. It might be best to test on scrap plastic first, before committing to your project. Also, be sure all coats are well cured before advancing to the next step. ...or, you can paint with acrylic, which should not experience bleeding. I'm not aware of any good hobby acrylics in a spray can, though, and some non-hobby paints labelled as acrylics can still be hot enough to promote bleeding.

Cool to see a six banger Camaro. Nice details. I really dig the paper floor mats. Nicely done.

Very nice. Good looking conversion. Your collection of unkitted American cars must be quite large. Cool stuff.

That’s looking great. You’re nailing the look. Nice engine, too.

Cheers, Mate. Message on the way. -
Coming along very nicely, Jason. Been eager to pick up one of these kits, so I am keen to watch this build come together. Looks like a nice kit. Love the colours.

Cool build, Mario. One of my favourite movie cars. Your colour looks like a great match for the original. The movie car was a yellow/green colour, possibly cintron yella, which can look yellow or green, depending on lighting. In movie post production, the crew responsible for adjusting the colour of the film thought the car was yellow, and the film was tinted to so the car would appear plain yellow throughout the film. Many scenes of the movie have an unnaturally warm colouring as a result.

It's great to see one of those old Renwal classics getting the full detail treatment. Nice save of a rare old kit. The silver paint reveals the flowing lines the way I imagine Exner envisioning them. Enjoyed the magazine articals, too. Lovely work.

Good to have you aboard, Matthew.

I would guess (key word) that you could thin them with any of the common products used to thin hobby enamels and lacquers. Self levelling thinners from Gunze or Tamiya, or hardware store lacquer thinner should work.

Badger 105 Patroit needle
Bainford replied to dragstk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Nothing specific, just a good visual inspection, sighting along the assembled airbrush and checking concentricity of parts. Looking at your photo it appears as though the needle collet is jammed against the body, too. Might just be the photo angle though. Either way, your decision to contact Badger is the right one. As others have said, they are very good to deal with. Curious to know what the problem is, when you get it sorted. -
If you need darker blue, some police kits with blue lights may be an option.

Badger 105 Patroit needle
Bainford replied to dragstk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not normal at all. Something very wrong there. Something is bent or out of alignment, or assembled wrong. A bend 1.5” back from the tip would put it at the needle bushing. Looking at the photo, something is definitely out of whack. The back of the body itself could be bent and holding the needle off centre, but it looks deeper than that. On mine, the needle is biased to the bottom, but not by any force. Reaching through the window, the needle wiggles up and down effortlessly. Remove the back of the body and check the concentricity of the needle holder assembly to the housing. Everything should be centred. Look deeper for bent parts, especially in the needle holder/trigger area. The head is pretty robust on these, but worth checking for straightness there too. The airbrush may have been dropped at some point, even before you got it. -
