  1. This is so true, it's ridiculous. It holds true for making scratchbuilt parts, too. The first one is made quickly and easily, with a pleasing result. It takes six (at least) tries to make a mate for it that is as good as the first. Every time!
  2. That must be why they changed their funny car kit graphics to generic livery. I have two of the Pinto kits, both with the generic "Crazy Horse" box art, but one of the kits has the Mickey Thompson Titanium Pinto decals in the box.
  3. I use Bob Smith almost exclusively for CA glue, though I will also occasionally use those cheap single-use tubes often seen in grocery and hardware stores. Anyway, the Bob Smith CA is great stuff. It is available in several viscosities, from extra thin to gel. The viscosity, or thickness chosen will largely depend on personal preference. I generally keep a bottle of extra thin and a bottle of thick on the bench, though it is the extra thin that gets used 90% of the time. The stuff tends to thicken up after the bottle has been opened for a couple of months (all CAs will). I also use (and highly recommend) the Bob Smith CA accelerator or 'kicker'. Though it comes in a pump spray, I load some of the stuff into a pipette for application. When not using CA for a long time, or for storage of new product, keep it in the fridge for extended life.

    Junk.

Excellent work all 'round. Great detailing and weathering. You have an excellent eye for realism. Great photography, too.
  5. Very nice work on the Woody. The framing bits of the body replicate the look of wood very convincingly. Overall a wonderful build. Nicely done!
  6. Cool vid, thanks for posting. I haven't seen anything on this machine in decades. As for the amazing sound, it is impossible to appreciate the sound of any performance engine unless it is under load. Putt-putting around the show field is kind of cool, and it all sounds a bit rorty, but I would love to hear machines like this at full song under load.
  7. A Lotus with an automatic box... Nnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
  8. Murphy's Law states that the likelihood a cat will eat a vintage model part is directly proportional to the unobtainability of a replacement part.
  9. Great tip. I've used this method as well. It is also great for attaching head light lenses and other lenses.
  10. There is nothing there of collector value, but there is lots of good building in those boxes. Build away.
  11. Yes, it looks like much fun indeed. Have a blast!
  12. Several years ago I wanted some Shelby stripes in white, but Kieth only offered them in black. I emailed him and asked if he could run off a set in white, and he obliged me. There may have been a premium charged for this, though I don't remember for sure.
  13. I recommend hardware store lacquer thinner for all enamels and lacquers used for hobby painting.
  14. Actually, I'm going to withdraw this comment. It appears that this was only true for cars imported to the American market.
  15. I'm seeing the lack of side marker lights. Also, I believe the wheelbase change was something in the order of 57 or 59 mm (though I do not recall exactly)
  16. Actually, the car in the photo is a pre-'68.
  17. The Merc looks great. I really like the colour. I have one of these kits in my stash, and every time I see one posted on the forum I get the urge to start mine. It looks like a fantastic kit, and yours turned out nicely.
  18. I've been enjoying this build, and appreciate the detailed information provided by several members. I have one of these that I hope to tear into soon, so this is all helpful stuff. Your model is coming along very nicely. The carpeting in the interior looks really well done.
  19. Nice build. These cars have such beautiful lines.
  20. Tough looking Dodge. I like it!
  21. Very sad to hear. His rivalry with Prudhomme in the 70s was fuel for the imagination. I loved that stuff as a kid. Thanks for the memories, Tom. R.I.P.
  22. Nice and clean. And I agree with the post above; well done on those tricky decals.
  23. Another awesome large barge. Very well done.
