Cool project, and very nice work. Weathering looks great. -
Oh man, that's looking good! Very nice, Bruce. You're cooking up one cool Cobra.

This is looking really good! Everything looks right. Love the headers, and the sliding window is awesome.

A real stunner, Steve. Just beautiful. Colour choices are inspired. Cheers.

Airbrushing - intervals between coats
Bainford replied to fcriscuo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Like Greg, I try not to leave paint in the cup more than 5 minutes or so. I paint with a small cup, so there's not much paint in it anyway. If I'm going to be away a few minutes I just dump the paint and blow a little lacquer thinner through it to clear it out. When returning to paint, shoot a couple seconds of paint through before pointing the airbrush at your model to ensure any standing lacquer thinner is evacuated. Something to keep in mind is that of the common types of hobby paints, acrylic is the hardest to remove from inside the airbrush bits once it has set. It can be very stubborn stuff. -
The second cool '34 I've checked out this morning. The tire/wheel combo gives it attitude. Love the colour.

This thing is looking great. I'm really digging the direction here.

Interesting. I never knew this was an option for buying kits. I just had a look and there are indeed some good deals there.

Question on AMX funnycar
Bainford replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a photo of AMX-1 in my collection of internet car pics that rolls on a slideshow whenever I am at the bench. I always though it would be a cool project, and have given some thought to a chassis. As Dave mentioned, the AMT Vega or Gremlin funny car would likely provide a suitable chassis. I have also thought that the MPC Wild Willy Borsche or Pure Hell altereds might work, or perhaps the Atlantis (Revell) Fiat altered, though haven't done any actual sizing up of things to check suitability. This particular car was in fact built on the chassis of an ex-Fiat altered. Any of these chassis will likely require modification to fit the AMX body. -
Forum website has been sluggish for the last few days
Bainford replied to peteski's topic in How To Use This Board
For the last couple weeks it has been worse than ever. 30 seconds to a minute for some pages to load, and often some photos don't load at all. It is every bit as bad as dial-up used to be. The forum has become very frustrating to use. -
I needed an improvement over the kit windscreen wiper for my Lotus build, so I threw a few scraps together and came up with this. After a couple evenings I finally got it together. The connection between the arm and the blade will be trimmed at final assembly. It could stand to be tidier and it may end up serving as the prototype for a better try, but at the rate this project is progressing I will likely end up using it. Big improvement over the kit piece.

Nice clean 'Bird, Bill. Looks great in blue. It's always good to drag a long running project across the line.

Absolutely avoid any enamel clear if you are concerned about yellowing. Generally speaking, acrylic hobby paints are non-yellowing. Although I have no white cars coated with Tamiya clear, in my experience the Tamiya acrylic clears don't yellow. For that matter, I have had no yellowing problems with Tamiya lacquer clears either.

Very impressive. I am quite enjoying this build.

Too many squirrels running around in my head.

Lots of cool stuff, Terry. I'm really digging the Galaxie and the Cheech & Chong Chevy. -
Hello Joseph. You have posted in the section "How To Use This Board". Back on the main forum page, just below this section, is the section "Welcome! Introduce Yourself" Click on that, then when the page opens, click on the blue box on the right called "Start a new topic". A new window will open and you can type your introduction there. We'd like to hear a couple lines about your model building experience and what type of model cars you like to build, and maybe where you are from. Oh, and welcome to the forum.
