  1. Scalefinishes doesn't respond to emails anymore, so they've lost my business despite me always having excellent customer service in the past. Tamiya has said these lacquers have to go through the U.S. approval process to be sold here. That's interesting you got the Pink Surfacer from China. I tried to get it from Japan, France, and Spain, and none of them would ship to the U.S. if the product is not approved. It's been approved for sale in the US and will be in stock at hobby stores soon.
  2. Hi guys, Just started another project without finishing previous projects! Go figure. I'm building two Revell McLaren 570s models. One will be painted McLaren Mantis Green, the other McLaren Mauvine Blue, both paints from Zero. I'll be using Plamoz wheels and detail sets. My first order of business with any Revell model is the body, and more specifically the doors on this model. The real car doesn't have a separation between the parts of the door, but Revell, probably for molding and build sequence reasons, created two parts for the door skins. To fix this, I've removed the top of the door at a natural seam and glued it to the separate part. I will fill the separation with putty and reattach the completed part after everything is painted and decaled with carbon fiber, and it'll look like the real car.
  3. I've always had great communication with Jameston until about a year or two ago when he started a new job and stopped responding to emails about custom and out of stock colors. I get the impression that you'll get your order fulfilled if you just order what's available on the website or go through Elm City. It's a shame, since he's essentially lost my business now that I have Gravity Colors in the USA.
  4. The Tamiya Ceslior or LS400 kits have the 4.0 V8 engine.
  5. Nice job! Daytona's look great in yellow.
  6. You did a beautiful job. I love the color, and your photos really show it off.
  7. You can compare here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10024664 and http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10053687 Also, you might want to get some of these to replace the awful decals. I note there's no SC300/SC400 script. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-18-1-12-1-24-1-43-chrome-metal-decals-LEXUS-VOLVO-2078-/182957049070
  8. Just from my eye. One example I can point out - I think the side window shape near the C-pillar is slightly more accurate on the Fujimi.
  9. Welp. Looks like I won't be buying any new kits this year, unless I decide to go for the reissued Toyota 2000GT and Mazda Cosmos. Nothing interests me this year. Maybe a good thing, as I have too many kits to build.
  10. I have both. I think the Fujimi captures the Soarer/SC400 exterior look better, but the Aoshima has better interior detail (though Fujimi interior is perfectly acceptable). The real sin is that the Fujimi kit has the wrong chassis. It uses the generic chassis Fujimi used for BMW and Mercedes at the time. The Soarer/SC400 actually uses a shortened Celsior/LS40 chassis, and Fujimi made an accurate chassis for its LS400 kit, so I don't know why they didn't use it for the Soarer/SC400. Maybe the Soarer/SC400 was developed before the Celsior/LS400. These kits are expensive, for who knows what reason. They used to be readily available on eBay for cheap, but us modelers are now holding onto our stashes!

Amazing work! So detailed. Color combination is perfect.
  12. Cool concept! One of Fujimi's worst offerings in terms of detail and accuracy.
  13. Off to a good start! Just one suggestion - you may want to try a different paint, like Vallejo acrylics or Tamiya acrylics for your interior colors, especially if you brush on the color. You'll get a smoother, more accurate finish. Nice colors you chose.
  14. Looks awesome! Can you tell me what parts you ordered from RBMotion for the rear shocks?
  15. Thanks James! We shall see.
  16. Anyone has intel on Aoshima? They were on a roll with Lambo and Pagani kits, but since those kits, its been pretty quiet and they've only been releasing Japanese-centric stuff.
  17. Same here!
  18. "More detail pictures like the brakes and chassis tree that show just how "enthusiastic" the kit engineers and designers were on this project. And then last week we were treated to this kit description on Revell Germany's own webpage. It was so perfectly on-point that it didn't remain long, but Google has a cache..." Geez, wouldn't it have made more sense (business sense too) to have tooled a 911 and its variations???? Hard to believe Revell was more than enthusiastic about this than other Porsches.
  19. Glad to hear your kit isn't as bad. I think the parking sensors are there, just hard to see in your photo due to shadows and glares. I can tell that particular car has them because two of them are located in the black strip between the exhaust tips. There's four in back, four in front. A couple of people offered good, easy suggestions for fixing this issue. Thanks guys! Rob is right - the blue circle is for the tow hook. I note the front has two, when it should only have one. Probably due to either LHD or RHD configurations, and you have to fill one depending on which you choose.
  20. Nice job, and great color combination!
  21. Nice engine detailing. Can't wait to see more.
  22. Thanks!
  23. Looking forward to seeing more. Radwood is a cool event! Keep in mind that the instructions call for chrome trim around the windshield, doors, and tonneau cover, but that's incorrect. It should be painted black chrome.
  24. Sure. When is the next meeting? Query: how best to replicate the parking sensors? A very small hollow punch tool?
