  1. Did anyone here attend the Chatsworth show on Sunday? Any photos to share? I know it was kind of in the shadow of GSL but I figure someone must have gone there.......
  2. Here's a link to my Fotki site for GSL 24, held last weekend. Pictures of probably all the models on display, plus some of the modelers who attended. http://public.fotki.com/Scott-F-Hess/gsl24photos/
  3. Neil, Start saving anyway. First Weekend in May. Here's a link to my Fotki page for GSL 24: http://public.fotki.com/Scott-F-Hess/gsl24photos/

  5. I agree. The Revell chassis should be a lot better than the previous versions.
  6. Closest similar detailed chassis would be the AMT 62 Thunderbird. It would probably need to be stretched a bit. These cars were both unit bodies, developed together, using shared components. These days you would say they share the same "platform".
  7. From my observation (I owned a 78 Zephyr 2-door sedan for several years, as well as two hatchback Fox Mustangs) the trunk stamping is basically the same for all these Fox variations. They all have the round spare tire well offset to one side with the fuel tank hanging below. Rear shock mounts intrude into the luggage compartment a bit but they are covered by plastic trim in wagon and hatch versions. I can't remember what level of detail exists in either the MPC or Revell/Monogram hatchback Mustang kits, so can't comment there. The 87 Turbo Coupe kit might be another chassis source for the Fairmont.
  8. Exactly. Looking good, Jim. I, too, am looking forward to your progress on this build.
  9. Very cool. The wheel and color choice is perfect. I like the way you shaped the rear deck too.
  10. Dash in the real vehicle is 57 or 58 Mercury.
  11. A few minutes with a razor saw, some evergreen and a rummage through the parts box........
  12. There were Cougar station wagons, but they didn't arrive on the scene until 1977 and again in 1982. No 69 wagons though.
  13. This is a good swap, but the 67-68 roof is different from the 65-66 around the back window.
  14. Stolen from elsewhere. List of new releases for October 2012.
  15. Steve Perry (Calnaga Casting) casts a 429, with a toploader trans: http://www.calnaga.com/Store.html (go to page 2)
  16. I still have some ten-cent Testor's bottles. I probably wouldn't use the paint in them though.....
  17. I will be driving up the 28th. Bringing Ron Ramsay. Gonna try to leave early enough to make it to Hollywood Jim's seminar.
  18. Most Japanese cars sold in the U.S. in the late 60s and early 70s, when they had door-mounted mirrors, had little chrome pieces on the fenders to cover up the home-market mirror mounting holes.
  19. My 2007 Fusion (2.3 4-cylinder/5-speed manual) calculates to about one MPG plus or minus what the display shows when I fill the tank. I reset the "average MPG" display and the trip odometer when I fill the tank. Average is about 25-28 MPG in mixed driving. My commute is about 60 miles each way, 65% mountain roads, the rest on the freeway. I have seen the display as high as 49.9 MPG coming down the grade between Mammoth Lakes and Bishop, CA. I don't baby it. This car now has 107,000 miles and still drives and handles like new. No major problems. What's fun to watch is the "instant MPG" display in my 91 Taurus (3.8) engine. It can show 99 MPG when coasting. Of course it drops to zero when you stop.
  20. 71 Ford LTD 2-door. 68 Mercury Montego MX 2-door hardtop. 72 Mercury Montego GT.
  21. OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
  22. Motor Trend called it the Fastbagon......
  23. Um, no. Not even close.
  24. Copier paper boxes have served me well. They hold 6-7 standard AMT kit boxes and one small Jo-Han box each. Fewer if you pack the larger Revell kit boxes. And they have a separate lid.
