  1. I'm someone who has been on both sides of the fence here . I started out working in a simple service station and I worked in a dealership once . I do believe though that Tire stores are the worst offenders currently . As a Woman , it's even worse now because Men seem to think Women will buy any lie spewed . Ha ! This one has had more broken fingernails than I care to remember about .
  2. The now defunct PMC model company in New York actually DID make this as a promotional ! I bought one off a member here years back and I'm NOT letting go of it cause It WILL get used in an up coming diorama project
  3. The 3rd gen Econolines were the ONLY one's built with a real frame .....
  4. Steve , I promise ya , it's a very decent offering . I don't do much in resin as too many have been SCAM artists , or the product is simply unusable . In this case , Motor City was up front and the product was exactly what it was implied .....
  5. Tom now retails under the name Spotlight Hobbies ......
  6. You are MOST Correct ! This is another reason I have dropped out of sooooo many IPMS venues ....
  7. Mark, I used to live across the street from where Good Time vans were built . What kind of a van did you have ? I can probably scrounge up the parts from van kits if that is all you need . For what it's worth, I'm also personal friends with Dick Nesbitt who was a product engineer for them in the day . He and I go back to the van era as I was a parts manufacturer myself ....
  8. Dave , YOU just confirmed my longest running suspicion ovret at AMT
  9. What makes today so special ?
  10. As a diorama builder , I'm thoroughly enjoying Henry Ford and his gang . The S W A T figures will play a part in the event I ever do an urban jungle scene .
  11. Dennis , I never got specifics from Mr. Anderson on the Moving van. He just said things were being considered as in Construction equipment . The first piece I recall was the D8H Caterpillar . That was well AFTER Mr. Anderson left AMT and helped found IMC corp.
  12. Scott, you're correct on all counts . I had the moving van . I never saw the Dump truck until years later when these were binging insane prices .
  13. Shazzzzzaaammmm ! I'm looking at the Atlas Moving van model . I had this thing in 1964 when it showed at a drug store . I even spoke to Budd Anderson about doing other heavy truck models and I was told that there was at the time , a proposal to do others . What a WONDERFUL trip back in through the TIME WARP people !
  14. Jeremiah, I use the 8X10 sheets from Bare metal foil co . I have an Epsom Bubble jet printer and MOST printers on the market use such . Yes, you can buy a laser printer and as such , YOU HAVE to use a LASER Decal paper or else !!!!!! You also need to apply a CLEAR Lacquer finish over your work !!!!! For what it's worth , my office is South of Richmond in Chester Va . I don't do any Virginia contests as they're all IPMS and we don't exactly get along . Perhaps we can meet say a coffee shop if you want my help sometime ....
  15. Tom , I DO have ONE suggestion . if you tool a Slide side , why not also do the "Park bench" seats those vans came with . I know I can provide the photos needed of the "BASE " seats . The nice high back Captians chairs were actually a Bostrom seat offering as were the unique swivel bases that mated them for the THIRD gen vans . I have a very nice pair along with BOTH versions of the bases that were manufactured for that van along with several not often ordered options ordered for the Econoline over their history .
  16. EXTREMELY KWELL Tom !!!!! I'm surprised you didn't incorporate the "Pop Out windows into the Club wagon you did . I'm impressed by the color choice as it looks to be Factory in origin !!!
  17. Texaco - Kenosha Wisconsin : Texaco Prefab metal building , Canoga park California : Texaco - prefabricated Sheet metal porcelainized building from late 1950's Southern California : Esso- St Albans West Virginia Gulf Wyanote Michigan ; This one was probably another brand when built ....
  18. Mike , I saw , but never purchased the Palmer kit . Even in 1963, I knew of Palmer's dubious efforts . The earlier L Sabre , a GM prototype shows that quite evidently .
  19. Scot , I'm curious . Did you start with the old Premier kit at first ?
  20. Yes Indeedy !!!!!!!!!
  21. Tommy, I'm always happy to share anything I'm proficient at !
  22. Ace , they get NO Sympathy from me , NONE!!!!!
  23. No such kit I know of ......The tank pictured here is one I scratch built .
  24. Ace , you need to see the hand wringing , gnashing of teeth , tears and pleas for professional therapy I see on Facebook concerning the OLD Re issued to death kits
