  1. To show ya'all how ole I is , I remember seeing ads in Car Craft for those bubble taillights from Honest Charlie in Tennessee and J C witney for about 14.95 a pair ! Oh yes , I also used to have a Bel aire Ht for a short while . Ed Shaver
  2. Gerald, uh not to be a dummy but whats the harm in using yer own name .... Seems pretty good to me .... but thats only opinion . Ed Shaver
  3. Chiming into Art Anderson's well put post , I have to add that through out history Ford was famous almost to a fault about adding and deleting certain things that never made it to any catalouge except to the poor parts counter man sheets ! Case in point has to be Ford trucks where in the yokes of the driveshafts were changed 5 TIMES in 1970 alone ! Hey, I bet Chuck Most has seen this situation several times . Meanwhile, the paints from Chrysler changed , remember them Muscle boys ? Common , rivet counters , RELAX , BUILD SOMETHING AND SHARE IT WITH US !!!! Ed Shaver
  4. Tim, I think the comparrisom shot does this pair well. I'm still going to do mine stock though as I just don't care to do street rod models . I built real stret rods in the winter when Custom Van business was slack back in the day ......... Ed Shaver
  5. Chuck does it really snow that much over I- 80 ??? I don't really know as I never had any runs through " Big Sky " country. I did however get stuck in Flag staff Arizona on I - 40 . Ed Shaver
  6. Yep , I gotta agree with the Zimm man , Bill Borgen certainly was an influence here . Now bout the zany signs Bill used to do ....................... Ed Shaver
  7. For what it's worth , the " OTHER MAGAZINE " reviewers thouth these kits , ( Bonniville convertable and the Nova were the best thing sice P. F Flyers tennis Shoes !) Whew. ...! I then stupidly went out and threw down nearly fouty five dollars on The Bonnivile Ht as I used to have one . When I opened the box, I wanted to die ! Not only was the chrome bad but the miss -shapen top was a disaster ! I think a couple of years ago a model builder actual corrected the Bonniville , what a project that turned out to be ! he was also going to do modifications to the Nova , but I never saw the completed job . He did say that there were several fit issues . Fit issues, Hey I want to know whos paying offthese " Reviewers over at " The Other Magazine " . No wonder I havent bought a copy of that so called piece in several years ! Ed Shaver
  8. Budd, is this where the Alexander Bros met Mark Gustovisision ? Kinda looks that way if you look back at his ole Dream truck ....... The results are most interesting , yes , I'll stay tuned . Ed Shaver
  9. You 've made a lot of interesting progress since I saw it last on The Model Builders ........ Ed Shaver
  10. Chuck, this is high praise commin from OLE George . he dislikes Fords ya know . Iffin he thinks a Ford kit is good , better hold onto it ! Ed Shaver
  11. Nicholas , now go for it ! I believe ya might have a career on yer hands . Ed Shaver
  12. Eelco I know where you are comming from with the Volkswagen Bugs . The only problem with them was the lack or shall we say poor design for a heater . I worked on many of them over the years replaceing the rusted out heater boxes on the bottom of the motors . I had a couple of Chevrolet Corvairs . Anyone care to remember the famous " Gasoline powered heater that was on a 1960 model ? Ed Shaver
  13. J B , I think your version looks a sight better than the origional ! Ed Shaver
  14. Sitting here reading these opinions reminds me of Motor Trend and even beyond that Car an Driver automobile reviewers from back in the 1960's . Oh they would laud any car built in europe or Japan as the next best thing since tennis shoes ! Give them an American car, Phooey ! Hey ya'all rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously !!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  15. Spyder , First I don't want an argument here but first the Crown Victoria has probably the best brakes of any car I ever drove ! Handleing isn't too darn bad overall either . By the way , I have owned several Corvairs and I would put handleing up with any of them too ! For trunk space , humm ever seen the inside if Chrysler's Dodge Charger trunk ??? Have ya ever had to wrestle out people outta de back seat , I have on tooooo many occasions ! The Crown Victoria is also more roomy too. I'm 6'3". Yes , While I can agree with ya on the roomynes of yer Avitar Corvair, I can't say the same for a Dodge Charger . Besides , the Charger looks and feels like a sardine can and it's electrical system history .............. Humm lets not go there ! Ed Shaver
  16. Porky , if I didn't know better it certainly looks like you were able to find an origional A M T kit to do the pieces from . Ed Shaver
  17. Randy you are sooo sooo correct !!!!! Bondo is really a very cheap product to try and work with, even their " premium Gold is only slightly par in my opinion . " Go spend the big money on the Evercoat or the Dynatron two part fillers . Heck go to N A P A and try their Tec Glaze . You may have to got to the N A P A stores that mix and sell paint though as not all stores have that product . Still they can get it in a day from their warehouse . I actually still do some body and fender work as Im retired for the most part now . I came up learning to use tin/ lead ! Ed Shaver
  18. Personally I have always liked the Linburg/ I M C Lil Red Wagon kit to raid pieces from . The transmission from the Hemi will yield a nice three spd 727 ! Ed Shaver
  19. Charlie , I was next to the owners of M C W all day at the winston Salem North Kustom car model show back two years ago , great guys ! Their product was first rate and If I had not been worried about the piece of junk Chrysler van I had not restarting , I would have bought a Tempest wagon kit he had there . You would have had to have seen the variety of stuff they do actually offer , itt's great stuff! Ed Shaver
  20. Rick , for some reason I couldn't get your link to work . I also cut and pasted it into the broser . it said the link wouldn't match their records , oh well....... Guess I'll watch for the continuing rain .............. Ed Shaver
  21. Common Harry , wheres yer sense of adventure , the thrill of getting there in one piece ! Hey , trucks for the most part are Rear wheel drive ..... Ed Shaver
  22. Ive seriously considered doing such a truck myself ! Problem is I keep getting involved in doing the service station dioramas I do . They generally take a year to do as my time to do a decent job on a model is sometimes limited . Vintage Truck Magazine has in the past featured a couple of Vintage sanitation trucks in the past . I wish I were more help . Ed Shaver
  23. I only wish Revell would do a 69 Delta 88, a real car I might add ................. Ed Shaver
  24. Chuck , first I don't actually know how to view " Others " folders . Now to Catagorize your cars into the types of builds , that sounds plausable . In fact thats the way a organized person would keep track of a lot of projects . Since I don't have too many pictures in a Photo web page I pretty much know where stuff is . If somebody were to access my Photobucket account , fine . Ed Shaver
  25. Iv'e mentioned this before and I'll mention it again , get Goof - Off ! Yep Goof - Off avalible from most any Home Depoit and Lowes in the paint department . This stuff works to preserve ANY Rock Hard Brush ! Ed Shaver
