And just when I was bragging to the RC guys that the people on the Model Cars forums were a lot nicer & didn't make snide unwarranted personal attacks on people they didn't know I get proven wrong. Sorry, I must apologise to our regular followers, I see that it's a relatively new poster that hasn't caught on to the nice people we usually have here, at least in one case anyway. ;-/

After getting home where I could look at a real picture instead of the postage stamp sized one on my cell phone it's clear that the trunk's open. When we true Northern Californians are back in our clear air we can actually see quite clear thank you. It's when we get away from our clear, clean, fresh air that we have problems.

Brett Barrow: I didn't make my post completely clear, in the pictures on the side of the box the picture of the black far in the top view showing the interior is a '58, but the split picture that shows the front view of the silver car, & the rear view of the black car the black one doesn't have "the chrome spears on the rear deck, it's not a bad picture, they're just missing. Kinda strange?
-
Curiously enough, the pictures of the box side panels show the '59, it's missing the chrome spears on the deck lid. Another goof by the USA printers, or is the black one a custom version. (can't see the rear of the silver one good enough to see if the spears are there or not).
-
Just to straighten out a few minor things, (ironic that people complaining about a major company can get minor things wrong while doing it) all the paper printing is still done by the good old USA, & the '59 'Vette is based on the '58 not the other way around. Guess not even the perfect people that post on forums get it right all the time ;-)

The idea of a parts pack based on'32 parts wouldn't be a bad idea for a "new" pack, with the amount of '32 based kits that Revell has,& the success they have had with them it would be possible to take the different parts from each kit & possibly offer them in one "options" kit. & possibly in a separate kit offer some of the parts to build a stock chassis & another for some of the "traditional" parts like an I-beam axle in a a stock & dropped version, & maybe a more traditional rear axle for an earlier suspension style. See there's lots of possible ideas, & we didn't even touch on the bodies that could be done, like chopped coupes & a Bonneville style roadster, the possibilities are mind boggling,& that's just one kit and there are quite a few that could be used in the same manner.
-
Dave, it'd sure be cool if maybe some of those "projects" included some early Chevelle Malibu's that were mainstream cars & not SS's, & if really lucky, maybe some of those early subcompacts that Ford & GM offered ( have you seen the prices a Pinto, or Vega kit in a "stock"style is fetching these days?

Janis Joplin's Porsche 356C and Janis figure...

I'd go with gloss clear, since most of the artwork was done in one shot enamels that have a high gloss. -
Just remember how you got that effect with the Alclad, it's the perfect finish for natural steel.

Veeerrryy nice! When I was much younger, there were two'50 Chevys in the neighborhood that had this color scheme, brought back quite a few memories.

The Z-06 is the yellow one that's in the "Corvette assortment" at Walmarts that carry plastic models. It's a Revell kit. Beautiful job on a rare car, how many sheets of carbon fibre decals did it take?
-
NICE!! Very good build, I like everything about it, I don't see the dip in the drip rail on the right rear, did you fix it, or was it not in your kit?

My mistake, I went through some of the old articles on the building of this there is only one that says the truck was based entirely on a Chevy pickup. All the others including the ones with actual construction photos explain that the truck is based on a Chevy one ton truck cab that was built on a shortened'55 Chevrolet passenger car frame. You can find more on the build of the Orange Hauler, in an article on the model by Mark Gustavson, that has a link to the articles in the 1:1 magazines that have nice under construction, & finished pictures of the actual truck.

That color appears to be very close to a color that I used on a 1:1 Shelby GT500 a long time ago, it was a Lincoln "Moonglow" color the "Moonglow" colors were Ford Motor Companies answer to GM's "Firemist" metallics.

That looks like it's a great runner, not criticism, but the Orange Hauler chassis is an early Chevy pickup chassis the "car"itself is a '60-'62 Chevy, I think it was actually a'60 if I remember correctly.

Where's the Buzz? New tool Hyundai!
horsepower replied to Erik Smith's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Isn't the Azera the non-export South Korean version of the export Genesis, like Kia has the K-5 in their non-export line & the export version is the Optima. While I'm there, if they're working with Hyundai Motors why not issue an Optima, they are doing quite well in World Challenge GT against Porsche's, Camaros & Mustangs. -
If you want a spectacular use of that paint, use it over a coarse silver like dupli-color metalcast silver base then bury it in clear. I did a 1:1 truck this way about an eon ago it's still astounding when I run across pictures of it.

We could use a few "mainstream"Chevelle models, I'd really like a'64 & '66 Chevelle Malibu, instead of the usual SS models we usually see, I would almost bet that the ratio of Malibu's to SS's was close to 2 to 1. And yes I know that MCW has a'64 Malibu in their line up & I could probably use a mix of Revell & Lindberg parts to build a '66, but the'65 is a different deal altogether. Did I mention that we could use an early Pinto kit that won't cost us a body part or two?

Galaxie Limited's '48 Chevy Coupe
horsepower replied to lordairgtar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I wouldn't mind seeing a '48 Pontiac Torpedo, ( that's their term for the "Fleetline".) And while I'm talkin' "Tin Indian", how about a'50-'51 Torpedo, maybe in resin that would work on one of the apprropriate GM chassis we already have? -
Just FYI House of Kolor offers their solar gold base in an ultra fine base that would be the closest you can get to the correct base in scale the standard base would look like a metalflake in scale The code is fbc01 it is Solar Gold fine metallic base.

That"ridge line" on the rear of the body isn't that bad when you remember that it's the body line for the rear door opening.. -
Scale Finishes Paints & Airbrushing

Same for me, it's just to much of a pain at times to drag everything out, then clean it up & put it all away again. -

The locked cabinets probably have more to do more with the loss of inventory than a graffiti problem, in the time I ran a shop the largest theft problem we had was spray paints, & I know that the large box stores in our area that tried the locking cabinets did so to try & cut down on the dummies that think they have to test the colors in the store. It must have proven to be more trouble in the long run, as all have done away with the locked cases. -
Just thought I'd let you know what the thing is in the second picture, it appears as though there is a bird of some sort flying on the left side of the picture, I'm not a big bird watcher, but it doesn't appear to be a bald eagle. lol
