  1. I've found a place to get prints of the original velum drawings/plans for several of Don Edmund's race Cars I am interested in building a 1/24 version of the four bar car Super Modified from the late '60s I sent Don an email & found that the plans are drawn in 1/8scale but as I said I want to build mine in 1/24th scale the prints run around $48 for a two piece set that are signed. If there is any one that would like to build one of these unique cars in 1/8th scale & might consider in going together to purchase a set of these plans let me know,I can come up with some pictures of one of these cars that ran locally in 1969-1970 for reference as to what the finished car looked like. Thanks, Del
  2. The thing to keep in mind about the AMT bodies is that due to the molding design of the fenders, all of the Deuce bodies are sectioned. The overall height of the body from the lower body lines to the upper belt line is to short for a stock body.
  3. I guess that all those that think this would be a big deal to Big Bill think about the three different sets of rules that were used to determine the champion while he was still in charge. The one that was still in use in the early'70s saw a champ determined by the amount of laps finished yep, finished not led think you'd like that one better?
  4. I just don't think people think before complaining, I bet that most everyone that is complaining about the "winner take all" deal is busy getting ready for the Super Bowl, same deal NASCAR is going to,you work all season to make the chase/playoffs, then work your way to the championship, only big difference is that you don't need to win the finale just be the highest finisher of the four left in the playoff.
  5. I got in late on this one but I have to say real, just has that look.
  6. I have three of the Gang Busters kits, one is almost mint, with some parts that have fallen off the trees but otherwise perfect, one is missing all of the speed equipment for the Hot Rod version, one has a tire mark on the roof, (beware when buying a kit that is listed as "perfect" when there is no picture of the body in the listing)lol,& I have an older resin (could be Replicas & Miniatures) of the Panel delivery parts to build a panel out of one of the half dozen or so of the Roadster kits that have managed to find their way into my "inventory" oh,, did I mention that I kinda like the old early thirties Chevy's? I used to have a '31 coupe, but a move forced me to sell it to a friend,,it's still sitting in his backyard, one of the may he hasn't got around to.
  7. If you can get your hands on any of the Moebius Chrysler kits, or the AMT '57 300, ( or pictures of the kits engine) you will find out where the oil filter went on the early Hemi's, my poor old memory fails me, since my little brother had a blown flat bottom with a 392 in it that had this same filter set up in it, but that's been almost 30 years ago & I've slept since then.
  8. Did ya' notice that the only one that has any of the pricing guide info on his Fotki site is the one that's on Ebay?
  9. At least we know that one of the people that hit the big Power Ball is a modeler
  10. I'd sure like to get a set or two of the early Champ car dirt tires & wheels.
  11. Do you know if they intend to produce any of the wheel & tire combos that Etzel's made?
  12. I hate to say this since your build is going so well, but two things, the two tone Nomads didn't split the roof into two parts, & the rear end is a complete housing, the '55-'64 Chevy's used a drop in center section like the Ford nine inch. The housings didn't have a rear cover, other than those little details it's looking really nice.
  13. That sounds sorta like me,must've been one of my long lost relatives.
  14. Nice to see that the'58 'Vette isn't dead & we get another chance at it again.
  15. There you go!!
  16. I would try copying the decals onto thin paper then use a water based glue so the paper could be buckled then scraped away carefully to expose the base metal beneath. Just an idea.
  17. sorry for the"dud"post, read the next one.:-)
  18. I think what he meant is that other than decals & a tire & wheel change, these sprint car kits are unchanged since their introduction in around 1987. There is a few places where you can get the parts & pieces to update one to current styles.,Great job on those decals, they can be a real thrill.
  19. I know that they don't make it real clear in the instructions, but the "ribbed" area on the dash it these old Olds were stainless, but could be painted in aluminum & it would appear very close, it isn't clear on the instructions either but most of the clock housings in the dash center were chrome.
  20. This kit was originally released as the "Little T" it has pretty much copied the releases of the Big T until the changes on that kit to the rear suspension. The black & gold release went along with the "Black Gold" release of the 1/8 scale T in the mid '90s.
  21. I like your concept, it's coming along well. I don't know what happened on that firewall to floor pan, on both of the Fairlanes I got (the stock kit, & the NASCAR kit) the firewall fit like a glove, I didn't have to do anything but clean a small amount of plastic "weld". I use liquid cement & liberally at that, it softened the two parts to the point that there was a small amount of plastic that oozed out of the joint, after it dried over night a sharp # 11 blade trimmed that away & it looks as though it came fro Revell as a single molded piece.
  22. I like the little Valiant, I'd like to find one of those in the plain Jane sedan version.
  23. That one puts you one up on me for the year, but I do have a lot of started ones.lol Beautiful job, makes one wonder what it would be like if you had used the Revell kit instead of the old AMT dinosaur.
  24. Nice build, & don't worry about the undercarriage or the shine, they are both about what would be expected in the time period had this car been used as a trade in & got a "new" paint job to spruce it up for resale.
  25. Personally I REALLY like the red one with the subtle top chop & one piece quarter glass.
