It doesn't appear that in the kit I just opened that there are any parts missing that would keep one from building a "Stock" version the hood is the same hood, & you have to fill the holes in the rear quarters to use the kit "Decal" tailight options, other than that it appears one could put a stock version with an auto instead of the manual, & this one would have dual exhaust. I'm sure if you didn't want to use the kit "headers" to use the dual exhaust version you could fab up a short length of exhaust pipe to go from the manifolds to the kit pipes.

If I'm remembering right the Edsel came with the FE engine, as a standard, & the MEL engine as an option.

I was thinking of using the one out of the AMT '25 T kit (with a littled modification) for one of the Merc's suppose the same could be done with the wagon also. For me this is easy since I have a half dozen of the T kits & the AMT '49 Merc kits to source the proper three speed from.

AMT '40 Ford Coupe Review (1983 Re-issue)
horsepower replied to Duntov's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For those that are bothered by the ill fitting hood it can be made to fit quite easily (albeit a little tedious) just take a razor saw (fine tooth) & carefully cut down each side of the center chrome strip & front emblem then re-glue all three parts back together, the material removed by the saw cuts puts the hood back in proper alignment with the body sides again. -
Does anyone know...

since they didn't alter the original pieces, I don't think there would be a problem with building a stock version, especially since if the auto trans is one of the original type Hydramatic's. This shouldn't be a real problem for Revell, since they already have several kits in their vaults that came with the old style Hydro behind an Olds' motor, the original Willys kit, the Anglia sedan, & the Thames Pie Wagon come to mind easily. Also there is no need to cast that old style hydro, (even though I'm sure somebody has) as it comes in the Parts Pack kit of the Cadillac motor & should be an easy mat to the Olds.

Yes!!! I just hope that the auto is the old style hydramatic, & not a newer style tranny.

When will Revell show us what they got?
horsepower replied to 7000in5th's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was lucky enough to make it to Hot August Nites in Reno this year, & the Barrett Jackson show area had every color that is available in the C 7's on display, & they were actually selling them to select people on site. (I was lucky to over hear a conversation between one lady & a factory rep that "The board of directors will not be interested in the car unless you can have it ready to drive out by tomorrrow morning" must be nice to have that much clout. -

I would be surprised if Revell released the 2014 'Vette, as Round2 has the deal on producing GM promo's it would only make sense that when it is released it will come out first as a promo kit, then maybe later as a full detail kit. -
Me thinks you doth not get the gist of his statement, step out the front door, & look up & down the street, do you see any cars (or trucks)? if so do you see any u-joints on any of these? Assuming that you weren't struck down when you stepped out your door I doubt you saw any unless you crawled under to look for them.

Brass works well, but if you use aluminum, you have the options of leaving it aluminum for a race car drive shaft (mostly on oval short track cars) or polishing it to a high shine for a show chrome shaft or just painting it for the good old standard steel shaft.

NASCAR 2013 Chevy SS

Does he have any plans for doing any of the other manufacturers that you know of? Also is there any body out there that is doing the Gen 6 style chassis & cage, I know the cages are very different than what we are used to seeing, & the chassis itself has a few changes from the C.O.T. also. -
my only deal is that they include the extra cost option continental kit, but not the extra "splash" guards behind the front wheel openings, (when these were shown in the photos on the '55 'vert kit box) & they don't offer the fuel injection, that was the ultimate in options, & also the four speeds were introduced in late '57, so wouldn't that rate as an option also?

It wouldn't actually be a phantom, as Olds' did actually put together a couple of "concept" cars of a Sedan Delivery.

the Ventura is based on the Nova platform, & to my knowledge the eight lug wheels were never used on the "smaller" cars. Oop's, I was thinking of the later Ventura's from the '70s, maybe some enterprising resin caster has the eight lug wheels already

Gary, I'd go with the red dash, & door garnish mouldings, & tan carpet, to me that would just be logical for an open car, that the dash would appear to be an extension of the cowling. But that's just my thoughts, for what they're worth.

'50 Olds or Pontiac Torpedo bodies
horsepower replied to horsepower's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I know it's a strange deal, Chevy called them a Fleetline, Olds, & Pontiac called'em a Torpedo, & Cadillac called them Sedanettes, the guys at GM had some strange ideas, but no commonality. -
Looks pretty good, but that body sure is straight for a "beater".
-
I like it, 'til you look close (that is if you know what you're looking for) you don't even notice that it has Old's front fenders, & Chevy rears. (taillights are the main give-away).

'50 Olds or Pontiac Torpedo bodies

Is there someone who make a kit to convert the Revell Olds' to a Torpedo body style? And does anyone make a '50-'51 Pontiac torpedo body style, body/kit? -

Michael, this is supposed to be a Drag car, you don't need/want a rear view mirror someone might be gaining on you, & in drag racing, it's totally impossible to block & get away with it! roflmsao! -
31 Nash: way beyond "Rat Fiink" Coupe: new project 5/9/13
horsepower replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I don't know about the pictures you are looking at, but from looking at the real car, (which I have inspected very closely as I have watched this car develop from "scrap to show worthy) the engine does sit level with the ground,, sort of, but the severe angle of the chassis at ride height results in the outlandish appearance of the engine in relation to the chassis, it is one of those "optical dillusions" lol. -
I see people that are talking about using the Revell kit to build a full detail conversion but wouldn't it be easier to do most of the chassis work using the AMT full detail kit from the concept, they are still pretty easy to get, & cheaper than the Revell one at that.
