  1. Nice job on the patina, looks like it's on the way back from one of the local tracks. (lol)
  2. read closer, he won the Ranchero as an award, driving his '33 Willys, that had the Caddy engine in it. If we got the car that he won "Little Eliminator" with it would be nice, an early version of the Willys Coupe that we already have, if I remember it was basically a stock body unlike the release that we have now (the one with the "cammer" motor.
  3. It's actually the Revell '34 Ford fenders that fit so well, the kit used for the model I'm building as a street rod came from the black molded one, it's the Hot Rod version I think, or the same fenders come in the burgundy '34 Ford roadster kit also.
  4. I came into this build really late, as I could have saved you a lot of work on that SHO motor, waaaaay back when SCCA ran a truck series, Saleen Racing ran Ford Rangers with the SHO motor, connected to the stock, Ranger 5 speed trans, now for the work saving part, they somehow turned the intake plenums 180 degrees, with the intake portion facing front, I don't know if you can still find any pictures of these, but they look like they came from the factory that way, its a real shame Ford didn't pick up on it as an option, it would have definitely made for a real street sleeper.
  5. I know that most manufacturers would let you do that, I don't know about any of the others, but if you tried to order a combo that they considered "non-resellable" Ford would not accept the order. I know of a lady that worked with my wife that tried to order a 1978 T-Bird in black with a green interior, & they refused the order saying that if she were to trade it back in at a later date the it would not be a car they deemed sellable.
  6. If it's in 1/25 scale, couldn't you use the Revell '37 panel Delivery for a lot of the stock parts?
  7. Being from Redding, the home of bothe Roger Whipp, & Don Hammon, I got to see quite a bit of this car, personally I was really disappointed when the switched from the early Hemi to the "Baby Hemi" Daimler engine. I looked like someone left it in the dryer to long.
  8. Know where you're coming from both with the thumb, while working on a boat in my younger days as a body shop owner I was using a 15 lb. slide hammer & talking to another person not paying attention to the placement of my upper hand, when I pulled the weight up to hit the stop imagine my surprise so find out my thumb was in between the two, popped my thumb on both side like a ripe plum! For the back just recovering from a disc removal, installation of a titanium cage (2) & two titanium rods to hold the vertebrae apart while the bone grows enough to fill in the space, still have another 8 months in the brace before rehab starts. Hope you get back on the project, it's really looking good & I could use some of your work as an instructional.
  9. I can already see a TON!! of Dale Jr. cars on the forums.
  10. you can get some pieces you might need to finish off the interior & boot area from the AMT '51 convertible kit, both same basic body from firewall back, & both kits are same scale.
  11. I think it would look really nice if you sanded off the body reveal around the rear fender openings & used some appropriate sized half round stock to raise the line to match the radius of the rear tire a little better, just a little trick that will actually make the body look much closer to the ground visually.
  12. I've always intended to actually build one of the half dozen or so that I robbed the tires & wheels out of, but I was gong to separate the front fenders & hood assembly at the line just above the side scoops to make it more like the C-3 'Vettes.
  13. Wouldn't the guy from "Graveyard Cars" have a conniption over this one? How would he ever restore that one, it has neither a born on date or a died on date.
  14. I have had Pinto's & Mustang II's since they first came out in '71, My first Mustang II was a '74 2.8 4 spd car, I had the 2.8 re-done by a local engine builder it was a super runner right at 350 horsepower, after the Mustang got sort of worn out on the body side I took the V-6 out & put it in a '74 Pinto runabout, the Pinto's were almost 1000 lbs. lighter, it was the best runner I had, I did build a '72 Runabout that had one of the high compression 302's in it with a C-4, & the V-6 was better to drive due to the weight balance, but the V-8 was most impressive as I kept the D50x13 rear tires on it. You could stand on the pedal at 70mph, & kick the tranny down to second & it would smoke the rear tires until either you ran out of balls or it got fast enough to shift. The V-6 had enough power that it would pull 7000 RPM's in 4th gear, no idea how fast that was as it ran out of speedo around 5500 rpm.
  15. Ask & you shall receive! it's on the shelves now, your're much luckier with your wishes than I am, all I want is the '71 Ford Pinto from AMT it is the only sedan version released all others were "Runabouts"
  16. The Revell '55,56 had the early cast iron PowerGlide not the one anyone would want for a modern drag car. You would want one from a '62 or later kit, even though the '58 kit has a TurboGlide, that kinda resembles a PowerGlide, but was more of a variable speed trans than a two speed.
  17. Like he said, the only bad news for those that want to put it in a Hot Rod, is it only comes with the auto trans,,,,for now.
  18. worst hemorrhoid ever?
  19. I don't know if you can find it,but the Wimbledon white color was available in the Testors line.
  20. S'suuuse me, I didn't pay enough attention to the body styles in the Galaxie kits, I just remembered seeing the Sizzler name, & remembered the box form my mis-spent youth. But now that I rack my "Swiss Cheese Brain" I remembered having both the Sizzler & Long John kits, & it was the Long John that had no chrome just the silver molded plastic, not even a chassis, the valve covers & such just plugged into the body.
  21. There has been a lot of speculation over the "new" Slingster/Sizzler kit, if anyone remembers the Sizzler, molds name etc. were purchased by Galaxie & are still being sold by them in 1/24 scale. I would imagine that there was some sort of deal preventing Revell/Monogram from releasing this kit in it original form, thus it has a new name, & is now in 1/25 scale.(which is more preferable to some modelers)
  22. If they had just put in a set of 59-60 'Vette tailights I'm sure the more proficient modelers among us could have figured out how to cut the rear quarters so that they would go in, they work out super on the 1:1 version of this GM body series.
  23. My kit has one Goodyear, & one Racemaster, & I waited & order after the first shipment thinking I might get lucky & they would have this problem corrected,,,wrong!!
  24. The front suspension in the kit is a totally new piece with the axle location in it much higher so it will lower the front, the rear suspension comes with lowering blocks on the rear springs, & different panhard bar so you can locate the rear suspension lower.
  25. KACHOW !!! That is lookin' good, should do the version of him after the race against Doc, with all the tumblweeds stuck on his hood, or maybe the "Radiator Springs" version with the painted coves, metalflake paint & wide whites, after all most of the ones that are built are just the generic version. Oh yeah there's the one in the three wide finish with Lightnings tongue sticking out to make him longer for the photo finish. (My grandson reminded me of that one by bring all the different Lightning die-casts in for me to look at after he saw the Mater build up.) There is some "striping" in the Merc kit that can be used for Sally's "Tramp Stamp"
