Actually it's a simple issue the ones that don't show & have the distributor shield are cars that came with a radio, some of the big block cars that came with a radio, have both the distributor shield, & shielded wires like aircraft do, they are inside a stainless mesh that appears like braided lines, & would be well represented by braided line that would come out to approximately 3/8 inside diameter line, these also have a metal end that goes over the plug end of the wire. The ones that have visible ignition systems, are radio delete cars, & most of them are aimed at competition only.

I hate to burst your bubble, but it has probably been 60+ years since GEORGE Barris actually built any car, even the Ala Kart came out of Barris's shop, but was built by several other customizers of the time, that have gone on to be major constructors in their own shops, George was, & still is the business end of the shop, & is a real promoter, & has quite a few ideas of his that are somewhat questionable to some of us, but the Barris name is still a major name in the industry. And they do/have made models from some some of the best in the industry, Gene Winfield, Bill Cushenberry, The Alexander Brothers, to name just a few, & these like Chip Foose actually built & worked on the cars that came out of their shops.

'32 Ford roadster gluebomb rework. April 26: back on track
horsepower replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice Gee Bee there, what scale/kit is it that has always been one of my favorite Golden Age Racing planes of all. Nice deuce too! -
There are 5 chrome wheels, 4 with baby moon caps for the Polyglas tires, & one without a cap for a spare that would be visible in the "hatch" area.

I'm going real! Nice reflection of someone in the C-pillar. -
I may not be looking at the box correctly, but isn't the second Limited Edition Release of the '62 Impala from Revell an Impala SS? couldn't stand it, it's kit 85-4281

If you don't need them I am looking for a set of the four spoke chrome wheels that are in this kit, they are close enough to the old Appliance wheels that I had on the Pinto that my wife & I had as our first car. Those are about the last parts I need to start on a model of it. I wish I had that back, it was the most reliable car that I have ever had. Fast too, with a minor tune, long tube headers & a 2 1/2 inch diameter exhaust system it sure surprised a lot of V-8 powered cars locally.

There was also a "La Bamba" version released if I remember correctly, & the early 2000's issue that has the custom pieces in it also.

Just to let the people know that complained about the running boards not fitting tight up against the body,on the real cars they didn't fit up against the body, there is an apron that "curls" up to the body from the running boards there is about a 3-5 inch space from the top of the boards to the bottom of the doors. the kit is right on in this issue.

Revell '41/'43 Willys Pickup Gasser
horsepower replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Are my eyes failing me again, or does the Grease 2 version have a quick change, while the other versions appear to have the "early gasser" style Olds/Pontiac rear? -
Nice cars, really brings back some memories, I built a full size '74 that I had a killer 400+ horsepower 2.8 V-6 built for, when the 'Stang started showing its age I pulled the motor, trans, & headers & transferred them into a '74 Pinto Runabout that was sitting with a very tired 2.3 in it. The Pinto was almost 100 Lbs lighter, & made for a really fun car to drive, it was actually more fun than the V8 '72 Pinto I built that car had to much torque, & nose weight you actually steered it with the throttle, especially in the rain. But my wife sure had a lot of fun with it on the Freeway, the only give away was the two exhausts sticking out the back, it even ran the B50 x 13" TA Radials on 7" wheels with a 3.55 gear, she could smoke the tires at anything up to 65 mph by just standing on the gas, & kicking it down to second gear, it had a C4 trans in it & would chirp the tires in every shift even when you were just cruising.

The one in the Phantom Vicky isn't Mustang II/Pinto, it's an aftermarket front end, Kugel, Fatman, of Heidts possibly.

'32 revell ford roadster > ROUGHROD ....
horsepower replied to crazyrichard's topic in WIP: Model Cars
you might think about taking a larger drill bit, & "countersinking" the "speed" holes from the back side, do this by hand slowly just enough to thin out the body shell around the hole to make it look like it's actually sheetmetal. -

I liked it in Purple. -
When I showed this to "the little woman" she took one look & said it was the most convincing model she has ever seen. Then like me she said it would probably be one of those models that a person would have to go to the bank to get a loan to buy, & the possibility of a local hobby shop actually stocking one would be as likely as Wal Mart putting it on their shelves. That said, how much will it run? Or is it one of those "if you have to ask you can't afford it" deals?
