  1. Actually the early Pinto's came both ways, the one with the trunk was a Sedan, the ones with the hatchback were Runabouts, they did make one small window runabout, in early '71 model year, these were released in 1970, & were only available with the 1600 motor, & drum brakes, they also had a mechanical scissors type hold up for the rear hatch, not the hydraulic rams, the window was smaller than the sedan windows, & the hatch had chrome ribs across it ala Nomads under the rear window. These are rare & hard to find.
  2. I put a 302 (5.0) in a '72 Pinto Runabout, a full size one! it was a real ball to drive, you pointed it with the gas pedal, I left the 50 series 13"tires on 7" wheels, with the 3.55 gears, it would smoke the tires at 70 mph when you stood on it, & it kicked down to second gear (C4 trans). If I did it in 1:1 scale, I know you can in 1/25th.
  3. I'm one of those that just has to have that "new" kit as soon as it hits the LHS shelf, only to put it back for later,(most of them from the past decade have yet to be started) only to find it less than a month later at Kmart or on Ebay for a couple of dollars less. Think I'll ever learn? Nah, not me,, to old & stubborn, besides, the first time I wait, it will go out of stock, not be released again for at least a decade & all other sources will want at least one arm, one reproductive organ, (left) & an option on the next grandchild.
  4. They would have if it was one that GM was using for ad photos, really think they would just pull an average production car for one of those?
  5. This is either real, or someone went to a lot of work to add wavy bodywork to an otherwise excellent model.
  6. My mistake, like I said all I saw was about a 15-20 second view at the end of the show ( it has this much as a tag when my DVR records Raceday) & with the generic valve covers it jus' looked like a Rat.
  7. I know it's not out quite out yet but was I the only one to see what must be a test shot or something on Gearz this week? It isn't that far from the original '32 Highboy kit, different interior tub, moon tank out front, big ol' Rat motor w/sprint style headers, windshield frame is different,& of course the fenders, & the "up in the clouds" stance. Can't wait 'til Revell gets the real McCoy to us.
  8. California didn't screw up the air, we are apparently the only state that is taking care of it. I say this because I can look through just about any place on-line that sells auto related things, & I can find fairly new (90s) cars & trucks that in no way will ever meet any emissions test, federal or California, & these "pseudo Pro Street" things are street legal & licensed in most instances, unfortunately in our fine state they won't allow us to put a 460 in a Ranger pick-up with two fours on a tunnel ram,& nitrous, then try & put it on the street. Even in the counties where you don't have to smog check your car every year, (most are every other year) would these things even make it past the "visual" part of the inspection. Just be thankful at least a few places still want to leave something for our Grandchildren. Have you seen a picture of the sky in China lately? anywhere in the country? that is what we would look like if left up to our own.
  9. My first thought was,"Why would someone put a faux "Rolls" kit on a Chevy Fleetline?"
  10. there are several I know I will pick up, but the Challenger one is a must have, the one I built in the 7th grade didn't survive the attempt to power it with 4 of Revell's sp600 slot motors. Maybe this time I will leave it box stock, jus' for the nostalgia of it all.
  11. Those wire wheels are also in the release with the yellow car on the box top, also the up top in still there also.
  12. The Grand Sport is an Accurate Miniatures just re-boxed as a Revell kit, still in AM bags.
  13. Rom, just a thought for you, but waaaaay back when I used to do a lot of 'glas fabricating, we used to fill an area with expanding foam & when we were done you would use acetone to remove the foam & you had a finished part. You could use the same method to fill your block & heads for making a master, & when done just drop them in a container of acetone, foam removed, clean parts, & best of all no epoxy residue to try & pick out. Just an ideal
  14. Gotta say model this time, the door lines just don't look quite right.
  15. My Grandson saw the picture when I opened the thread, & now I have to get a kit I really had no plans for, the first thing he said was " Oh Boy! a "Doc" model!" (from the Pixar film "Cars")
  16. I'm going against the grain on this one, I think it's a very well done MODEL!
  17. The world is rapidly losing the masters of the "Rodding World" Dave will be missed, "Street Rodder" will not be the same.
  18. What with the way the "spy network" runs, this may be the reason AMT dropped their plans, the way I heard it, AMT had plans for this car to be released decades ago, & dropped it then because Revell was planning a release also, & it never appeared. Talk about a long delay in releasing a kit!
  19. Don't think those DZ's would make a very good Pro Touring wheel, to much flex, especially with the weight this behemoth would be carrying.
  20. Since this is a "hardtail" as long as the fender isn't touching, there wouldn't be a problem.
  21. Either this is a really anal builder, that rolls his models through dirt on the way to the table, or his kids have been playing with it. Or the obvious,, that it is REAL!
  22. The AMT early Riviera has a great set of wires too. Are These Hearses for "Little People"?
  23. Does anybody mold/have a pair of those tires that are on the trike in the last photos?
  24. Just for those of us on a limited budget, how much should I beg the little woman for tho get this baby?
  25. My grandson saw this while I was looking, & now I have to get one to build him a "Doc" from Cars.
