2014 Moebius Kit Announcements
Brett Barrow replied to Art Anderson's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Been a while (if ever) since Moebius hit a release date. Not knocking them, I know how things can change and delay a project. I think spring is a bit optimistic for the cars, probably see the pickup in the spring, and the cars sometime this calendar year (yeah I know that's a little broad, but I'm trained to under-promise and over-deliver) . I have the final MSRP on these ($34.95 for the truck and $32.95 for the cars), that's usually a good indicator that the basic tooling is finished. I think they did intentionally keep the cars under wraps until they were further along than they did with the pickup. -

Lovin' the red stripe in the grille! -
Yeeooowch. SRP for Model Master sprays is $6.20. Tamiya Putty is $4.60 SRP. They're gouging. I bought both of the "special" TS-83 Silver and TS-84 Gold Tamiya Sprays when they came out, I just had to see why they're so much. They're sort of like the high-polished Alclad shades but in a can, and not quite as reflective. You have to use a gloss undercoat like the high-polished Alclads. Are they worth $21 bucks a can? Nope.

It is what it is, a 45 year old annual model. Most annuals of the era (regardless of the company they were from) had molded in headlights. -
Wow, I put the jinx on, huh? Still doubt both #1's make it.

Well, the Chiefs are out.... What a crazy game!

Ooooh.... nice! Did you add the rear cove molding with strip styrene or just carefully foil the edge of the panel? If you used styrene strip, what size? -
Never really been into big scale, but after seeing the pics, now I want one! It's hard to tell from the pics, but which interior does this have, the Custom/Houndstooth (vertical pleats) or regular (horizontal pleats)?

Since realignment in 02, only 2 #1 seeds (03 Patriots & 09 Saints) have won the Super Bowl. More #1's (9) have lost their first playoff game than made it to the Super Bowl (8), so I doubt we'll see a Broncos vs Seahawks matchup, and I feel pretty strongly that neither team will make it. Personally I have a strong feeling about the Eagles making it to the Super Bowl (I would, I'm an Eagles fan) teams that have to play their way into the playoffs tend to go deeper as of late. Eagles vs Chiefs? That would be a good story line, Andy Reid being the Eagles' ex-coach and all...

Ok, it's settled... That's how I'm going to paint mine. Love that color with the white interior! Looks great! -
These were right on the tail end of the "big-box chain store era" as I like to call it. Wal-Mart and their ilk would buy enough of any new Revell kit to insure that it would at worst break even, so they tried a few long shots that were very likely staff members' personal favorites (I have a good idea who would have been behind the Indy Cars). But now that the big-box store safety net is gone, I think these would be a little too risky in today's market. As I've said before, Revell needs guaranteed slam-dunk home-run choices when it comes to new tooling, it's just a reality of today's situation.

A co-worker (my boss, actually) wanted me to teach him how to use BMF yesterday, and we used a fresh "New and Improved" sheet and I was really impressed, it's been a while since I've used any BMF and this was the first time I've used the new version, it went on and laid down smooth very easy, it didn't stick too hard where I didn't want it, the excess peeled up in one piece (instead of in little tiny chunks), didn't tear even with a cheap old hobby knife (his, not mine!), I only had to redo one piece due to my own cutting mistake. I never found BMF that hard to work with before, but the new improved stuff seemed to work much better for me than I remember the old stuff. -
Models in the movies
Brett Barrow replied to ReptileGuy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Few years ago I sold a bunch of models to M. Night Shyamalan's production company when he was filming Signs. They were supposed to be used in the kid's room, but I don't think they made it into the movie. They were mostly Lindberg anatomical models, I think they bought the whole line of those, plus a couple car and airplane kits. -
so how do i fix my boo-boo?

All Mr Surfacers have a white cap. Only Mr Surfacer that is actually white is Mr White Surfacer or Mr Base White. Shoot the Pearl White over the White. If the paint on the hood isn't too thick, just paint over it. If you have to strip it, 91% Alcohol strips Mr Surfacer/Tamiya sprays. -

A Facel Vega is my dream kit. Ma's Resin was supposed to be working on one in resin. Love to see one in mainstream plastic. -

Hey maybe it's all just a big conspiracy to sell more aftermarket parts? They say "Keep making mistakes, and we'll keep making corrections!"
