  1. That is why I love Jay Leno. He throws his money at his cars for the rest of the world to look at and love. It was said that he was part of a group of guys that put money in a replacement head for Duesenbergs. They needed patterns that my brother in law worked on 10 years ago or so. You are correct that the newer software might be easier but unless you are using products of the same company (or one that is designed to scan in one spot and then 3d print in another) that might be the problem from the guys I was talking to. I will have to send out a question to the guy I know that works with surfacing now that it has been a few years. Things change by the day with Tech.
  2. I will say that a two part epoxy floor paint will smell like the dickens. painting a 60 x120 building with the doors open still smells bad. Hopefully what you are getting Andy does not smell as bad as the stuff we used from Sherwin Williams. A great product btw. Sure cut down on dust and cleanup is easier. Just a reminder if you forget to turn off a light let it go. Walking on wet paint is like walking on ice with a fresh powder of snow. The kids at work were hopping I fell . LOL
  3. From what I have been told the 3d scanner only gets you the points but does not get you the surfaces to cut into the molds. Now again I have been told that a simple (compared to a model car) gallon jug like laundry soap would take almost 40 hours to do 1/2 by connecting the dots. You are correct in the way it could be done and I agree it should be done for older models for a new tool but it is not always as simple as we think it is. Sure wish I would have won so we could find out how easy this would be to do.
  4. Yes you can use super glue thin medium or the gell Just do not use it for the clear part or the chrome. It May fog the clear and the chrome. . Spend some time in the Question and Answers section and look around. the tips is also a good section. Good luck with your bench .
  5. Mine as well Rob. I had a cousin born during the Blizzard. They took a very large front end loader down the street to the house so my aunt could get to the Hospital. We had a snow drift that was up to the top of our Barn in the yard. Taller than the Bus we had for a camper. Started as an ice storm that switched to blowing snow here at the border.
  6. Welcome aboard Mike. Nothing says you have to paint your first few models. I am providing kits for my Nieces boy's. they are not painting yet. Just learning how to sand and glue so it comes out looking like a car. Seems to be working for now. Their mom is a clean freak so painting for now is a no no, until they learn to put things away all the time.
  7. Welcome aboard. A couple of guys on here are from New Zealand.
  8. Ray would dipping a piece of round stock make the dots better. Like a stamp? I think you need to ditch the radio for a smart phone also. Her friends may not know what that radio is. LOL
  9. This is why I have fish. If a body falls in the tank they just swim around it.
  10. The last few weeks have been bad.
  11. I the hands of a master. Still looking great Geoff .
  12. Funny thing about this saying, Why are you not allowed to be happy? Just wondering if you let her park in the garage? I would tell her that the SQ footing of the extra room is coming out of her half of the garage and use that. Sorry When I started my Rant I forgot to say I build on a desk in the Dining Room. Paint outside
  13. I have hard wood with a throw (low nap) rubber backed carpet on top for the chair. Most parts hit my big belly and bounce to the hard wood under the desk. So that I have to get on my hands and knees to find it. Next to the wall in the floor is a cold air return. The previous owner of the house put window screen under the vents. What a brilliant idea that turned out to be.
  14. Very well done !!! The pair look even better together.
  15. Mike this should be put in the Question and tips area. It more than likely will be, If you look in that section or the drag section there are many good pictures of what you are talking about.
  16. When I was a kid one of my dad's fellow coworkers had a Bump side with a Perkins Diesel. It was just a 2x4 though.
  17. All this does is make everything in the collective stash of model fans worth a bit more money for a few years.
  18. 78 - 80 Cutlass would be a nice start, and a Monte after that. We need these in styrene for the guys of my age group as a lure to build again.
  19. Very interesting and creative. I hope they found a way to keep it from fading.
  20. Just strain it out before you decide to replace it. Just remember it is colder out and unless it is inside your house it will work slower even if it is in the basement. I have some I have used for several years, I just ad to it every now and then.
  21. Harry the spots are too as in way too small it the parking lots today. Not everyone drives a smart car. They just have not figured that out. Around here they have to have a required amount of parking spots to match the square footage of the building for retail store. Yes the second half was fine. They fired the OC and have been a much better team. When the other teams D is telling you they know all your plays it says volumes. New GM not sure as of now about the coach yet.
